Jessica, I appreciate your openness and honesty about real life. You are easy to relate to. You have such a warm heart and fun nature. Your family is so very blessed to have you looking out for them. Your whole family is supportive of each other. Even though all of you work hard you live a beautiful life. God bless your family. Thank you for allowing us to be a small part of your life and the beautiful Alaska.
Years ago, I served my grandmother a bowl of soup and she said it was waaay too much. She said she only wanted a cup. I went back to the kitchen, poured the entire contents of the bowl into a large cup, and she was completely satisfied.
Thank you so much for another great video. Jessica, I really admire your transparency and you're honest to your viewers about your real life situation and being on an actual realistic budget. So many content creators seem to have these endless budgets and buy all of the shiny new things in the biggest box full of stuff you've ever seen et cetera. I appreciate the fact that you're candid about life situations that have happened and how you're dealing with them I applaud you. Keep on keeping on Sister Sledge and God bless❤
I created it all on a large budget but we had it then. Simply not the case right now and I’m so good with it. I like when I have thousands to spend but I’m in such a happy place right now I was so thankful to have just $400 for the whole month too.
Jessica you looked like a kid in a candy shop! I would agree about the dishwasher for Megamama. You will not regret getting the tomatoes in bulk, I am in Wyoming and can't grow enough tomatoes either and get 2 to 3 boxes a year from a Utah farm. Have a great weekend
Thank you for your encouragement and constant reminder to be grateful. I am inspired to take advantage of stocking and using the pantry with your example of planning and prepping. You and your family are a blessing to me and mine.
@@modernhomesteadalaska I could not agree more. Wish I had learned to can and preserve food then! By the way at one point I lived outside of Wasilla :) I'm learning so much from you Jessica!!! 🥰
I Always watch Jamerrill , you are right she needs that dishwasher lol 😂 love Rosarita refried beans. Love basil . Thank you for sharing! Love your videos ! 🌸🛒🌸
Thank you for taking us along to the Costco business center. That would be nice to have in our state. I am looking forward to your processing, canning, etc. of all the things. God bless you all!
Hello Jessica🌸. Thank you for taking us along today on your Costco haul. I love that store wish we had one. We have BJ’s which is better than nothing. I love that you share the prices because I’m one of those people who tries to keep prices in my head so I can make my decision on what I buy. Thank you so much. Have a blessed weekend my friend. See you again soon. Take care✌️🇺🇸💖
Hi sweet one! I wish we had a Costco business center close to us...I love seeing all the products they carry! No to the quail eggs. I really love Costco!!!! Great video! Big hugs and many blessings!
I truly do appreciate your opinion of the products you have already bought. I like to hear other's thoughts on items I haven't tried. Until we visit again.. enjoy your girl's night❤️🥰
Those metal bowls were so cheap I would of gotten one or two of each size amazing I knew you bought the quail eggs your face showed it when you saw them lol 😂😊 enjoyed your haul just stumbled on your channel 😀
I love watching Costco hauls. We don't have a business center near us. My son-in-law called this morning and was going to Costco so I gave him my list of all the paper goods I stock up for the winter. Tomorrow I'll be reorganizing my closets and shelves. Will love to see how you prepare the tomato sauce. Enjoy the girl's dinner!
Hi Jessica and sweet family! That was so nice of Wyatt to come rescue you. My brother in law used to raise quail and I love quail. That was a great Costco trip, wish we had a business one in our area. I hope everyone has a very blessed weekend! ❤
I love watching your videos. I love that you shows the good, the bad, your amazing family. I want to start canning but I have to wait and see if my mobility issues get better. I love watching your cooking and freeze drying videos
Hi Jessica. Last week my stores had a bunch of things on sale and I stocked up my pantry on those things and next week my focus is on winter medication for when my husband and I get a cold plus soups and things for when we do get sick. We live in a 5th wheel in the north east of Nevada. Having a garden here is sometimes hopeless because the dirt is horrible and the heat. I have tried several times and before I can get enough of something it bolts. I love your videos. Much love to you and your family
You can freeze dry Basil then blitz in a food processor with salt to make Basil Salt. Take an ice cube tray and grate or use food processor to make ginger in usable size. Mix the ginger with a little neutral oil and the freeze. Pop out of the ice trays and store in a resealable bag in the freezer.
You can also freeze the ginger whole and grate it for individual cooking and toss it back in.. apparently you don't even have to peel it when u freeze it. I am not a big ginger fan but I have seen a bunch of videos😂😂
Great prices on the food storage items at Costco. Thanks for sharing, I hope they are here in Michigan. I would also love to have that wheel of Parm. Maybe we can split it. LOL. Oooohh, I love shopping at the Asian markets. Does anyone else feel like it's Christmas after a good food shopping haul.
Thank you for sharing. What a great idea with the tomatoes! It was a goal to put up sauce this year. But as you know in Alaska that could be a challenge. But I love this idea. 💚
So pleased you bought the 'stickin' quail eggs! 😄 Life is about experiencing the unknown. I love watching your channel, Jessica. You are so down to earth, and the love you have for your family is wonderful to observe. Thanks for sharing your life.
Look forward to seeing you process all those tomatoes, jalapenos and ginger! And, no matter what any commenter says, it ALL counts! Today I was able to get 2 free pounds of butter and froze them. Will be very happy to have that "little bit" come winter! Glad you were able to get help with the tire in that rain... Wyatt is a good man!
Hi Jessica, I can relate to seniors thinking about the amount of food. I worked at a senior center cooking. We only served federal guideline portions. They would all say it’s too much food. They would always want to take the rest home. They would count a few bites of everything as another meal. It’s a senior citizen thing I guess.
Myself I try to buy 2 at a time or more when on offer for the pantry. Jessica have really enjoyed your videos on helping us to build a pantry 👏👏👏👏👏👏🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Love from the UK x
I have a question totally off topic.. I was wondering how you liked your freezer that has the drawers in it. Do you find it holds a lot . I am considering buying 2 because i am always worried about my upright door opening because something has moved inside. Thanks for your awesome videos.!!!!
Roma tomatoes are the best! Salsa, sauce, ketchup, paste, soup and diced…. Ive made them all. I used to do about 80 plants a year and i would get over a 1000 lbs every year, I would sell half of them and process the rest!
I watched your video of the Costco haul where you were looking for a storage rack for you black and yellow bins. I found a rack especially for those that you build super easy. Wish I could download a photo of it. If you google DIY storage bin shelves you might find it. I’m going to have my husband build it for me for my decoration storage 😀
Yeah I did see a thing like that! I only wanted the rolling one so we could move it around, we are building a storage room and drywalling and finishing our basement this winter, so we were trying to do something that didn’t require my husbands help, but I think I’ll wait for the room then build storage like that idea! Thank you for sharing
Have you tried to grow your own basil? It so easy to grow you can put it in a big pot or 5 gallon bucket so you can bring it in from the cold . I grow all the types cinnamon basil, sweet basil they grow like weeds!!
I recently bought a 13 qt stainless steel bowl and it doesn’t fit in my cabinets! 🤣 Thanks for helping your mom, Wyatt! Living Traditions Homestead has made pickled quail eggs. Thanks for all the info, Jessica.
when my kids were lil I found a roll of meat wrapping paper in my garage from when I was a meat cutter n it was the best I roll out on drive way ,patio ,grass n they'd finger paint on it paint their feet n walk on it the dogs would get involved it was great. n I'd put on dinner table n tape to bottom of table n we'd do arts n crafts on it when to hot cold raining whatever outside oh n dye Easter eggs on it to many uses for the paper
My granny did the same for us when we were kids . But the paper roll was 3 times that size.. I think it came from a printing place?? We would do whole body drawings and all sorts of crazy paintings and airplanes and everything under the sun❤❤
I get the sharpie industrial, they are a little more but writing on something and it lasts forever. I use it for my plant labels because they will last in the garden without fading off.
I got a large bag of ginger and freeze dried about a third and then pickled some . The freeze dried is awesome just like fresh for cooking. 😊 any ideas for ginger? Teas, cough syrup, cookies wouldn’t mind trying new things with ginger.
Yes I used a teaspoon and removed most of the skin then shredded and then cut into tiny pieces as well for different dishes. Worked great for my needs. I hear you don’t have to remove the skins it doesn’t effect the taste. I grew it once was nice long grass looking but the root didn’t grow for me. You can purée the ginger and pressure can it too not tried it yet. So much to explore with ginger. @@modernhomesteadalaska
Watched another channel who purchased one of the entire lambs and showed how to butcher. It was intriguing. It was another Alaskan channel. They said the quail eggs were dog food. Hope you buy the eggs to try.
I do pints in qt jars but I can 3/4of a cup 1 cup to much n siphons out n beans to dry.so now I do 3/4c in qt then when ready I just bacon fat in pan with onions fry til how I want then add beans smash n fry same time famiky love my beans I sometimes add splash of whorshire sauce n knorr chicken bullion just a tad
You might want to consider a "cold Room" instead of refrigerators. We are installing one on our ranch . They take an air conditioner and a special added device that keeps the AC machine lowering the temp. A lot of homesteaders consider this option because you can hanga deer or whatever because it is a whole room. Our room will be 8 x 16
I don’t know if you have tried freezing avocados. I mash it all up scoop in freezer containers. Sometimes I make it all guacamole and freeze into containers.
Just a question, have you ever freeze dried tomatoes to later make tomato ketchup/ sauce from that? I love Costco, it takes me 2 hours to get there so me and a friend go every 3 months and go to other shops around Melbourne on that day.
