    ***HOW DO I PAY MY BILLS IN CASH??***
    Probably my most asked question on this video, so I figured I'd pin the answer! This video is a few months old, but in the past I would take the money for my bills out of the bank so I could keep it "safe" from myself and my awful habit of swiping my debit card without thinking. Then, a day or two prior to when the bill was due, I'd re-deposit the money into the bank. Definitely not the most practical method, but it worked for me for years! All of my bills are kept in a Capital One 360 account now, and if you want an in-detail video about this, check out my video titled "Changing how I do Cash Envelopes" 😊
    Thanks for watching!

      Don you end up affecting your taxes or something? It’s like the bank think you’re earning double the same money if you withdraw and deposit the same money.

    • @alyssamakeseverything
      @alyssamakeseverything  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hau Pia I like to split up all of my monthly payments over my two paychecks per month, and taking them out in cash and physically putting them in an envelope keeps them “safe”, so to speak, in the sense that I won’t get tempted to buy something in the store with my debit card and accidentally dip into my phone bill or something! A separate checking account could solve that issue but I just haven’t gotten there yet. This way works for me, and it’s kind of fun in my opinion 😂 but I totally get that it’d be backwards for some people!

  • @Rosalye
    @Rosalye 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    That’s a lot of effort. Why not just direct deposit

    • @Clicked_SnoopyFr
      @Clicked_SnoopyFr 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Direct deposit gets you using your debit card and swiping with ease. This cash envelope system makes each dollar work for its purpose. When we want to buy something we just take out a debit card and swipe but it shouldn’t be that way we should have our money budgeted out for everything of the month. Now if you can control yourself and never swipe your debit card just because , then you can do direct deposit and pay your bills that way. But if you are a spender which most people tend to be , then direct deposit and just clicking away to pay bills wouldn’t work. This is a sure method to direct your money to its cause and you can actually see physically what money is left over to spend. Cash is King is ramseys motto.

    • @alyssamakeseverything
      @alyssamakeseverything  6 ปีที่แล้ว +358

      Great question! It can be confusing, I know my method is strange and kind of backwards to some. But I am a serial swiper, I'm very bad at using my debit card and not thinking about purchases, and next thing I know I have no money left for my bills that are due! So for me, taking things out in cash, putting them somewhere safe such as in an envelope, is easier for me. That way, if I wanted to spend that money I'd have to consciously go into that envelope and take out the cash, which obviously I'd never do. But yes, I go and put that money back into my account when it is time for the bill to be paid. In the future maybe I'll have two checking accounts set up? One strictly just for bills, no actual debit card attached to it. We'll see! But my method won't make sense or work for everyone.

    I’m living paycheck to pay check and really want to have this system. But as soon as I get my paycheck I have to pay the full bills with all my money. How did you get it so that you could set aside half of the bill each paycheck and then at the end of the month be able to pay from the 2 times you put money in. I hope that made since.

    I love that you are saving for school and a new laptop. That is awesome!!! I have recently really gotten into using cash envelopes as well... and every time I go to the bank they ask me about it... I get paid once a month so I go after I get paid and take out around $800... in crazy bills. It’s funny.

    • @alyssamakeseverything
      @alyssamakeseverything  6 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Thank you! :) Cash envelopes really are the best! LOL people really are curious about what we do! I basically take out my ENTIRE paycheck every 2 weeks and I get asked if I'm making a big purchase or something, and then I have to explain the cash envelopes thing. I like talking about it so I don't mind too much, but it's definitely a quick way to become "that girl" at the bank!

    • @ell040
      @ell040 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Iulia Cordus usually if you're taking money out of the bank, you can get it in 20's or 100's... getting your money in as few bills as possible. crazy money is asking to split the money you're taking out in different bills, say you want 8 1's and 3 50's or 11 10's, it's crazy because there's a big split up with money... i didn't explain that well but i hope you understand it a bit more

    • @TurtleTymeLol
      @TurtleTymeLol 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s how I do it. I get paid weekly and will round out my bills so the first week I pay my phone, I put about 150 in the bank, payments like 137 or something close. And then the rest of the money I separate for gas food and other things. I don’t pull my card out for anything anymore.

    • @owleyes71
      @owleyes71 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I have 2 checking accounts, withdrawing and re-depositing cash just seems like way too much effort. I have a main account that gets the direct deposit, and I transfer over however much I need to the other checking account that is called Bills. All the Autopays come out of THAT checking account. Anything that's left in the other checking account is for things like groceries, gas, etc. I also transfer over automatically a certain amount into my savings. Works pretty well.
