Just a little update on my diagnosing and pondering, going through details and possibilities.
It's really fun to see people fixing these old things, rather than throwing them away. Audio equipment just isn't made like that anymore. I really hope you get it working great again! :D
I replaced the output power transistors in an old AKAI stereo receiver a couple of years back. I couldn't find the exact replacement parts, so i put in some modern equivalents, that have some better performance. and damn did that thing come to life! It sounds way more powerful, yet retains the nice 70's sound. It's very nice :)
+Electricguy Yes I agree! Audio equipment these days is boring, I miss the vintage equipment.
As for this, i'm absolutely stumped, in part 3 of this I replaced all the capacitors, i've tested all transistors, I will replace some anyway because there are some different to what is in the service manual. But yeeah i'm stumped, all this replacing is equivalent to twiddling thumbs at the moment lol. This thing is probably freakin haunted ;o))
It seems you completely gave your AKAI receiver a new leash of life :o) I hope this ends up the same way! I really like the feeling of reviving old amps, it makes them that extra bit special :o)
+MsMad Lemon Exactly! They had much more fun and innovative designs back then! Hence why i usually build my own audio gear instead of buying it, because the stuff i can afford to buy isn't up to spec :P
Ahh i see! Yeah it can be tricky to find the issue sometimes. If one channel of the amp is okay it's easy to use that as a reference when fixing the other. Otherwise your only hope is probably the service manual and poking around :P
My. sister has that same one and has used it for years, no problems...it does look fairly simple to work on...good luck !

first thing to do is to find the service manual, you can just do a google search. I found the service manual for you www.manualslib.com/manual/890873/Marantz-Pm310.html. it has component lists in it, R746 will be listed there.

i've never had a Pioneer one, I think you're referring to the Technics SU-V2? I'm keeping it as a spare
MsMadLemon oh my bad I meant the technics. I currently have a Sony srt 6045 that sounds amazing on my sunsui speakers. I'm thinking of getting something with a bit more power, Most likely a marantz as well, but they are not cheap, they go for 250$ and up where I live. How much did your marantz cost you? Oh Also do you know if it's possible to put those blue led bulbs in my Sony that people put in there marantz? I think people get them from eBay. Thanks

I have ordered the 4 transistors which i'm waiting for. If I fix this hopefully, I will upload another video with all the details.
