Great vlog Will and I love it when you show us around these villages. Really makes you wonder what pleasure people get from fly tipping their crap into the canal.

It's not just a pleasure of the brainless it's the rich and wealthy as well. A posh row of houses were caught on camera dumping their garden waste in the canal. Not this canal another through Leicester. Hopefully I will show that in my later vlogs. Take care.

I was in Harborough last night (18.01.2023) after an engineering shift on the railway locally. Knew there was a marina in the town and very familiar with Foxton I thought? I wonder if Will as dropped a blog on it?? Little did I know!! Your one of a very few who have. Nice one ☝️ Will, you answered a couple questions I had.

Those swing ridges are a pain in the arse for single handers. There is a solitary bollard either side of the second one to tie onto which saves a half mile walk either end, useful as you have effectively closed the road but it's not easy. Coming back up I ended up following another boat with crew!! Good video cheers

Yeah it's so hard on your own. I've done them before and I put my front end on that one Ballard and run to the front etc. You know the routine. Not easy. Thanks for commenting bud.

Hey Will, just come across your channel... subscribed! Really enjoyed it, thanks for sharing your travels with all the lovely countryside and old architecture. I’m currently converting a minibus into a camper, in order to explore our lovely country by road, but deep down would love to explore it from the canal. Just need to convince the missus! Thanks again mate, look forward to the next video 😊

Ahh cheers Sheldon. Welcome aboard. Seeing this country by canal is probably the best way but not the quickest. I see lots of vans parked along the canal network. You can still enjoy it from a van. Good luck buddy.

Now that would be a ride of a lifetime, if you could get all the gates on the way down to open at the same time. Get a friend on a rope behind you and they would be able to water-ski all the way down, that would be one for the photo for the album ! Ha Ha.

Gallows Hill Bridge 8, Grand Union Canal (Market Harborough Arm). The factory has been embroiled in a long-running controversy over bad smells being emitted from the site. Fed-up people living nearby, on the A6 near the McDonald's roundabout, have complained to Harborough District Council about the smell which prompted the council to issue a warning letter to the company in 2008. JG Pears started operating at the Gallow Hill site in 2003 and it was previously the site of a glue factory.
The company receives animal fat and bones from butchers' shops and meat processing plants to be rendered so it separates into animal fat for use in soap and into meat and bone meal for pet food'.
