Great video! So f un and informative. Loved the outtake at the very end. I'm growing some Joe Pye Weed in my backyard pocket prairie this year and am finding it hard to distinguish from sunflower while young and under av foot high. Your description of the leaves will be very helpful. Thank you!
High I’ve watched your lead plant video but comments are off, can I ask do you know the best way to germinate the seeds an what soil conditions are best ?
I started 2 lead plants last month in all purpose potting mix. They have sprouted, and are tiny. They are growing in an unheated greenhouse where it's been up to over 100 inside, and down to low 30s. I hope this helps!
Mine from seed bloomed the second year but they looked like these the third year. SW Ohio. They are very tiny seedlings- water from below in a tray if growing in pots, which I recommend.
@@jdy1054 thanks for the info! My seeds actually didn't take at all! I'm sure I probably put them into the garden as I used the soil for other plants - let's hope I don't have Joe pye weed all over the garden next spring!!
Glad there is someone else that loves Joe Pyne, I love watching the butterflies and bumblebees buzz and flutter around them.

Love this plant. Hoping it'll do well in my suburban garden! I just got some seeds - any idea how long it will take to look like these?

Do you often find ticks walking in the prairie?
Sometimes. I always wear long pants. Can't let ticks stop you. Just do a tick check every night.
Interesting
Do you need to deadhead Joe pye weed
Don, t wonder n such alone and horrible places.
