    I have one of these and now I don't have to take it apart and break it to satisfy my own curiosity!
    Love the editing, made me laugh out loud 😂

    I bought a second hand IKH XW034 here in Finland... and it's exactly the same machine, in blue. Great video for helping me look after this planner 😊

      Much appreciated. It was certainly a journey but I’m pleased I did it because I’m convinced it runs better, but now I know how it works I’m more likely to be able to fix it if things go wrong in the future 😊

      I thought I was going to have to strip my Makita thicknesser yesterday, when using a planer jig to clean up some antique teak. The rollers were skidding on the varnish, so I put some anti slip mat on top of the jig, but under the wood. Somehow that mat got into the cutter head (all of it) and it made a poop inducing noise. Luckily everything is fine, but another lesson learned: next time will take the extra five minutes and hot glue it to the jig.

    Thank you Dean, I have really enjoyed this series. I have one of these beasts but I have not used it yet, waiting for the better weather so I can use it outside and not fill my shed with wood shavings 🤣 I look forward to your future capers.

    brilliant series on the Titan planer/thicknesser Dean mate. I have one of these and it took me ages to get it to turn on and stay on. It was down to not having the dust extractor on correctly in the beginning. So I kept my finger on the start button to keep it runnig and turned the thicknesser thingy until it clicked just enough to keep ut running. What happened was it chewed part of the plastic up and it came flying out in the wash tbh.. LMAO but ni it's working fine atm. This is a decent little machine tbh. I got some really nice finishes on lengths of hardwood pallet wood.. The wood was manky looking bcos of the age of it and years of use I suppose but this little bad boy planer cleaned it up to a tee. I also have a huge problem with the fence. I cannot lock it down bcos one of those yellow plastic jobbys cracked. I need to find oneline soon or otherwise I wil have to weld it or someth to keep it from ever moving and I won't be using the 45 angle anyways so maybe I just need to weld it down to the 90 degree angle for good? I'm in the process of kitting out my shop over the Xmas hols. I will be building my proper workbench and making some shelving and cabinets also. Plus some wall mounted tool areas.
    I'm also going to take a stab at building my 1st ever CNC Router too btw. Have u ever used one mate? Check these things out if u havent.. They can do some awesome designs on wood or even maybe a CNC Laser would be a good investment ofr ur business if u get it moving bro.. They're cheap enough to buy on sites now. I bought a Laser engraver for 230 euros but now I have to wait for it to be delivered. They ran out of stock so I have to wait for it to come back in. It's been a month now but i think it'll be well worth the wait bro,, Amazon and Banggood do some great ones if ur interested in looking into that

      Best of luck sorting out your shop over Xmas!
      I know about CNC and laser machines, but I don’t really have the space and certainly not the cash for one - I’d have to do some serious saving to get 300 smackaroos !
      You can always make an adjustable fence for the planer. I did, but there are other videos as well on TH-cam doing it 😊

    Nice work Dean. Matt over at Badger Workshop used to have one and he sharpened his old blades and got loads more life out of them. Might be worth thinking about

    • @WoodworkJourney
      @WoodworkJourney  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh for sure, sharpening blades is a great idea and TH-cam has a bunch of jig tutorials for doing it.
      If you’re like me though and put a massive dent in a blade by being a moron and forgetting to check for screws and nails, the softer cheap blades for these machines can be stuffed

    I'm not going to lie, I puckered up a little bit at 08:30. The things we do in the name of entertainment! I trust you use your blade guard when not trying to get a good shot?

      Yes I do, also I’ll use push blocks ordinarily, but for this instance and the fact I didn’t have my normal stance, I felt safer using my hands

    Dean I just had fun cleaned my blades on my titan haven’t got the setting tool put it all back best I can and
    Not certain a load of black very thin shavings came out and didn’t sound good emergency stop hit they w ere either metal or plastic change the fuse but very loud first time using it so don’t know how loud it normally is.
    I changed clothing 😂😂 almost dived looking for slit trench. I made sure it wasn’t hitting anything and turned it no sound when turning and just ordered new blades and can’t get the setting tool as no spares other than blades and belts. Any advice or suggestions cheers steve👨🏼‍🦽

    • @WoodworkJourney
      @WoodworkJourney  ปีที่แล้ว

      They are hellishly loud, just take off a little at a time.
      I had some black stuff come out when I started as well, don’t think I ever figured out where it came from lol

    Just a thought on the "sound proofing" ....would the insulation work on the outside to dampen the vibration etc.

    • @WoodworkJourney
      @WoodworkJourney  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question, possibly but unless the whole thing was encased (which would cause heat issues) I don’t think so, but I’m no expert (obviously 😂)

    I don't own a thickness planer yet. They do throw off a lot of shavings! I have a small workshop and would need to set it up outside. For now, I buy surface planed timbers. If I need to joint an edge, my table saw can do it.

    • @WoodworkJourney
      @WoodworkJourney  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are definitely a variety of ways you can joint boards and the table saw is a good one.

    Hi can I ask you on your thicknesser the bit your bed sits on when fully down on does yours have a couple of divots and a nylon nut on it. Mine are on right as you face the Titan opposite end to the winding Handel

    Hi Dean, nice series of videos! Quick question... I bought a titan table saw and it only works when I have the ON switch pressed in and the saw stops working when I remove it. Am I overlooking something or is it just faulty? I bought it this week and haven't been able to use it because of this problem. Cheers!

    • @EverymanBuilds
      @EverymanBuilds 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I too have a Titan table saw. You should be able to press ON and it'll run until either the power is switched off, or you press the OFF button. If it doesn't stay on you may have a faulty NVR switch. If you have an NVR with a cover, don't close the cover as that'll trigger the off - they're designed to be bumped closed (off) so you don't need to use hands. Mine does not have a cover on the NVR, but I bought mine ~5 years ago.

    • @WoodworkJourney
      @WoodworkJourney  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Rian Mc I think @Everyman Builds nailed it.
      Sounds like you’re pushing the cover back in after turning it on. It’s meant to be floppy

    • @rianmc4760
      @rianmc4760 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EverymanBuilds thanks for the reply. Unfortunately my NVR doesn't have a cover. It's just the ON and OFF switches. I guess it's just faulty. Hopefully Screwfix will exchange for another one.
