Annie is very basic to play but at the same time easy to counter because she seems quite telegraphed. Low range on her abilities makes it hard to pull off plays against higher skilled players without flash. Regardless her engage potential and just having stun available zones people away in skirmishes/teamfights. Its funny to see people get deleted by her combo too when she is fed. I like her because her low cds make her not totally useless after she combos someone. But yeah, the low range can make her seem useless into longer range champs/comps. Especially if your confidence is low from previous engages not being positive for the team/team couldn't follow up.
i'd argue the opposite when it comes to annie being easy to counter (aside from the abusably low ability range, you're 100% right about that).
none of her abilities are dodgable; the Q follows people, the W is an instant aoe, and the ult stuns before tibbers is even visible. even though her combo is telegraphed, there's barely any agency there for you to outplay it. using zhonya's or flash is relying on the ANNIE to mess up, by brain lagging into ulting a zhonya'd target or a split second after a flash.
paradoxically, the simplest champions to play are also great against skilled players. reason being is you can be the best player in the world, but if a 4 stack annie Q is flying toward your face you are getting stunned and chunked.
idk, her q and auto attack range is real good, she has no mobility which makes her an assassin xerath
I feel it's difficult to kill without flash if the enemy isn't inting

(Fun Factoid: Being able to move Tibbers and other summons with the button you spawned them with came from me. I made a suggestion in the old Adjudicator forums to re-use the tech Viktor's Chaos Storm uses for summon movement commands and it got internal traction and was implemented. Fun times, you know when Riot actually cared about their players!)

Riot never gave a shit about their own players they don't even care about their own employees
@@karlbastos2800 : They did care and even had small groups of players they would chat with regularly on the forums and in chat rooms in client. PlayWithRiot was a popular spot. Now they are very distant and disconnected from their player base.
And they do care about their employees. At least more than most AAA companies. Maybe not as much as possible, but comparative they do. It is all relative in the industry.

annie is honestly one of my favorite champs to play. she is so simple and can burst champs so easily so people often tilt when you keep killing them

hexflex is only useful for going over walls right? I really find hexflash hard to use. Even with blitzcrank. Seems to be faster to just walk

I still love and enjoy LS’s tibbers build. Rylai’s into Liandry’s with comet and cheap shot turns tibbers walking with someone into super consistent dps. It’s definitely not as good but it’s so much fun

I used to abuse old Rylai's into Liandry's with annie soooo much, sometimes the adc got the final hit on me after I bursted someone and Tibbers just went full chad mode and killed the full health adc on his own lol, plus I got tanky as fuck with that build + protobelt, definitely lacked mana though

as a so/so annie player, so/so being play her often but not maining. I personally run for Lian instead of luden for the burn, lian, flame, rabadon, seal, void, and last item depends on team, but usually hour glass.
at level 6 i can typically kill my laning opponent pretty easily so long as i already have my stun up. I use the combo R Q AA W ignite E AA Q and that usually gets the kill. because of the tibbers being the stun and right on top of them, there isnt much they can do.
I've even stolen dragon a few times by summoning tibbers with stun on the team, stuns them and i yoink. or jg yoinks

I have distinct memories of Annie because I started playing League right as her anniversary skin came out, and for a long time it was my most impressive skin

With Annie I always feel hard countered by spell shield items compared to other mages I can just poke a spell shield down from a distance prior to an all in. She fun though, she is the only champ I play that people will preemptively flash at full health just because they see me too close. 🐻 🔥

Why do you think no one plays her in high elo? I kinda like her kit but not being able to use your abilities, in order to save the stun can be annoying.
Annie is not good in lane. Short range spells with only a slight speed boost on E as her only movement means she’s really reliant on flash. Tibbers is also a huge portion of her damage, so if she doesn’t have flash + R she will be a out of commission for a long chunk of time against most comps.
With all of that being said, she doesn’t necessarily perform poorly in high elo. Tbh, her win rate historically in diamond+ is okay at worst and usually pretty good. I think her pick rate is low because her weaknesses seem much more debilitating than they actually are. Annie can snowball and carry a game, roam and help other carries win, and at worst, she will always be able to threaten a huge 5-man R stun. With that in mind, you can always have a game changing impact on her, you just have to maneuver around her shortcomings a bit.

Annie is legit one of the safest picks. Very basic kit, so easy even T1 can play her alright.
Yep, Annie has always been a pick for people like Reginald and T1. I think most people don't play her because they want to prove they are more capable of higher skill cap champions.

Considering T1 is undoubtedly miles ahead of you in skill (and I don't even watch his stuff tbh) it's funny you'd say "even T1 can play her." Especially since he got his call to fame by being the most iconic Draven player in league, and Draven is among the hardest ADCs mechanically. But hey, continue to judge your betters while you int in silver I guess?
He's great at Draven, which is a mechanically intense champion. Sorry to make you upset with simple truths. Annie is simple to play, if you want challenger in all roles she's a smart pick if mage isn't your main role. If you understood the game you would understand the transitioning of roles and how people adapt to them. T1 does not play mage very well and has just enough intelligence to know he should play Annie because of this. Regi was in same boat.
Sucking off T1 isn't going to help you actually improve at the game. It won't help you rise in ranks either.

Hey Pekin! Couldn't you use Tibbers to stop the Malphite TP at 16min? You said you had no stun there from spells but I thought throwing Tibbers could be an option, because that will have a stun. Or didn't you use it to have Tibbers for a potential drake fight?
not pekin but, tibbers on its own doesnt have a stun. Annie stun comes from her passive, which requires her to use 4 spells, but all his other spells were on cd
