Those maple cookies are standard fare in any grocery store in Canada. There are various brands and some are better than others. Maple fudge (fudge, not cookies) is better.
Lay's had maple-flavored potato chips as a limited special some time ago. They were good.

Oh great I’ll keep an eye out for the maple fudge when I get back to Canada. Ahhhh I would have loved to try maple potato chips. I had some maple syrup Coca Cola in Banff, it was delicious! Is there anything else I missed that I should try?

@@TipsyTofuTravels Have you had root beer? I love root beer, we have a fast food chain called A&W with delicious locally sourced and farmed ingredients and it's also a root beer brand. I keep hearing that root beer is disgusting to people from the UK, and that it tastes like toothpaste or mouth wash... If you're coming to Canada, would ya mind sending me some of your tooth paste that apparently tastes like one of my favourite drinks!?! i'll pay for the troubles. heck ill do a zoom call with ya and give you content. i just want to know why you think one of our top soda drinks tastes like mouth wash and tooth paste.

@@scottjgrant3345 I have tried root beer once or twice, and although I disagree that it tastes like toothpaste, I do think it has other medicinal qualities in its flavour which I am not sure I like.
To me root beer tastes like a drink we have in the UK called Dandelion and Burdock. You may have heard of it but just in case. This is a traditional drink dating back to the Middle Ages that uses fermented roots. Have you heard of this? If you can track down a can of that from the international food aisle and do a taste test you might be surprised.
I am hoping the more time we spend in Canada, the more I get used to it as I do want to try the root beer from A&W (I’ve heard it has a lovely vanilla flavour) and I’ve only had it out of the bottle from a supermarket.

    • @scottjgrant3345

I will look into those products, but i haven't heard of them. Dandelions are one of my favourite flowers, they're treated like a pest or a weed in canada but i love them. so if i can get my hand on a drink named dandelion i would probably consume it and drink it for the brand name alone lol.

I'm back. Totally agree about Coffee Crisp being dry. You need good teeth to mangle a Coffee Crisp, the trade-off is the flavor is quite good. ON the flavor note you will likely notice most North American products, not just candy, have a LOT of extra sugar that you don't find elsewhere. It is probably designed to create a mild addiction to the product. The phrase Double-Double was popularize but the coffee chain Tim Hortons and meant a double shot of Coffe Cream and a double portion of Sugar. I'm glad that you brought up the hershe's artificial flavor. I touched on this in your other video but please compare the American version of a Cadbury product against the UK version or Canadian Version. The American Mirage bar is an attempt to copy the Aero but the quality is not the same. Something I would really love to see is an American do a comparison of American foods with apples-to-apples comparison of the UK or Canadian versions. For example Cadbury products or 7UP etc. Anyhoo, thanks you for the fun video. Cheers.

Thanks so much for your comments! I appreciate it! That’s an amazing idea to compare UK / USA and Canadian Cadbury products. I’m not gonna be in the UK for much longer but please stick around and as soon as I get a chance I will make this happen haha!! I’m very interested in the differences in popular snacks, flavour and ingredients used in food as the UK is still (and I hope it still does) conforming to EU law when it comes to preservatives, sugar and chemicals used in food. Also I wondered if you had any insight into Canadian food and if they have different laws to the USA in terms of what “banned” or harmful chemicals in fast food and snacks? Thank you again

@@TipsyTofuTravels Just a brief insight into my perspective. I am from Canada, lived there into my early 30's then lived in the US for about 30 Yrs, now I am back in Canada. As a rule American food products are usually sub-standard to most other countries and they rely on the following credo, sell the lowest quality and the highest price that people wiill put up with. Americans, not all of course, but typically, have the mind-set that they know it's poor quality but what are you going to do? It is what it is" As for the question about different standards I am fairly certain that govenmental quality standards in the US are , shall we call them, generous.... to the producers, following the same standard of low quality/high profit of said product. Canada has much higher quality standards. As for "sticking around, I've got you subscribed so I'm sure you'll see me pop in now and then. Cheers

That’s good to know, I hoped that Canada would have better laws as I am moving over for a few years myself and want to make sure I’m not eating too many harmful chemicals day to day at home. I watch a TH-cam channel called Food Wars which has the UK vs USA comparisons for fast food, not sure if you’ve seen those but give them a watch if not! ☺️

@@TipsyTofuTravels I believe that I encounted Food Wars somewhere but I have no recollection, I'll have to revisit that show because this is a subject that interests me. I've given up fast food for many years. One thing if you pay attention, although you may crave a Big Mac, again there are differances from your own expectations but if youi give them up for a couple of Months and then go back and eat a Mac or a Wopper or whatever, shortly after eating it you will feel crappy and a general sense of malaise.. that's your body saying, what the hell is this crap you are feeding me pal. All-in-all though definately do some research into the ingredients in American, and to a lesser degree, Canadian fast food. If you're moving here and have any off-the-cuff questions I would be glad to try and address them. From that position I have lived on the East Coast, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, from whence I hail, as well as the West Coast, British Columbia, from whence I lived for approx. 11 Yrs. I have not lived in Alberta. I did some skiing there many Years ago but specific info about Alberta will be out of my wheelhouse. Cheers. Oh, one other little thing, if you are bound for Alberta, slightly, on a geographic scale, to the West of you inf Vancouver, BC there is a very large Ex-Pat community, restaraunts, culture etc so if you're ever feeling homesick there's always that...
