Yes, with something like a museum I wish Lego would, as they say, "go big or go home". I get that they can't make everything into a huge $200+ set, but there's so much untapped potential with this concept that I really think it would be easy to make an unforgettable set if they tried to actually make a vaguely convincing museum, rather than something the size of a museum lobby with a couple of "exhibits".
i hate how directly behind the gold nugget and above the gold shield thingy there is empty space, like they could have put a 4x4 map or another 4x4 painting . like ugh
This set is more about the cops vs. the robbers. It is called the museum BREAK-IN after all. The building they're breaking into is secondary to the "playability." My 7 year old son doesn't really care what's in the museum. He watched the CGI Lego video featuring this building on Lego.com and recreated the break in and chase. He could care less what's in the museum. We combine this set with Set #60009 Helicopter Arrest. The criminals escape to their hide out and there's usually a shoot out.
Although the inside of the museum is a bit simple, but I think it is a good set overall: play value is very high, helicopter with a light brick, cool police van, six minifigures, and a cute robber's escape van. I think they could have put the light brick underneath the helicopter instead of on the side, so it doesn't look bulky on the side.
I just ordered this set from Wal Mart. It is my first Lego set as an adult "Aside from a few small Star wars sets" I am getting it next week and looking forward to building it as well as displaying it.
Honestly, I am writing this in 2018 and this the newest museum city set, and I know there is capital city set, but that museum isn't even finished yet (under construction) so honestly I'd by this in 2018 purely for the museum. I mean honestly it is a pretty good price too.
Not really a comment on the review, and it's already more than 5 years old, but I really like the dark blue police chopper pilot minifig. They look like the old school swat uniform I saw in action films. I really liked the design I had to bricklink some to form my own lego city swat team... even though I have almost no "city" or criminals to fight to begin with! Haha.
Got this thing as a present. Had the same skepticality as you about the museum being legit. The museum itself is junk, being so small and empty, so I'm probably going to either take it apart or order more parts for it and extend it. The vehicles were pretty darn awesome and definitely not taking those apart :) Glad that this set wasn't a total rip off, compared to some of the others. Thanks for the review.
The museum, in my opinion, is good for the set. Like who expects to get a good-sized museum with like 30 exibits? It is kinda plain, but it doesn't give you too much extra things, lowering the count of parts used and overall. Personally, the little dirt things look kinda bad. I think the could have replaced the vines with a ladder or pipe like in other sets. Even though the museum, the way it is, is really good.
I would get this set just for the front of the museum so i could expand onto it, maybe have an exhibit on dinosaurs, but that does seem redundantly repetitive due to the fact that my science centre is all about dinosaurs, and Bill Nye.
First of all, I think the main goal of the set was just for the crooks to get the stuff inside the museum, not the museum it self, second of all, if they did want to focus on the museum, there's really not much they can put in such a small stall.

The reason the museum was so small is because the main focus is with the robbers and police. If it was just the museum alone, then it would probably be much bigger.

You could probably use the museum in this set as the entrance to a larger custom set, removing some of the inside accessories if you so chose.

That style Cop torso is the coolest. I don't really like the new beat cops other then for giggles

Lego city never has double sided faces! Other lego brands like Star Wars, power miners and super heroes and more
I know this is actually an older set but ... Lego is having a parallel to real life police militarization and that kinda makes me uncomfortable lol
