  • Today I visit PIK in north Jakarta to try some Indonesian food with only $10. Many of you recommended visiting PIK for its food and beautiful restaurants. This area of Jakarta really challenged me to see how far $10 can go here in Indonesia. For $10 we ate Nasi Rames, Soto Betawi, Sate Padang, Es Podeng, and Kue Lekker. Comment below how much you normally spend on food in one day! 👇🏼

Maybe you're bored by people telling you to eat Padang food, its easy to get, relatively cheap, although people say its spicy, its controable. There are several restaurant chains of Padang food, and not all are from West Sumatra. Most common is the Sederhana Chain, and there is Sederhana Asli (logo has SA on it), there is Sederhana Bintaro and there is Sederhana Lintau. Origninally it is from West Sumatera. The conceptor is living in East Jakarta, Rawamangun, and it is a franchise. The most sought for dish is Ayam Pop, fried chicken with special sambal, there is the Garuda chain, actually this is a Melayu food (Malay) orginally Medan area, there is Pagi Sore, which is from Palembang which is capital of South Sumatera, and its subsidiary/sister outlet Pa' Ciman a restaurant serving food in there are others such as Simpang, there are a couple in Jakarta, real Padang style, you can find in Bintaro Exchange, there are offcourse specialized outlets such as Sate Padang, Mak Adjad in Gunung Sahari which specialized in tongue for their sate, in Kebayoran there is Adjo Ramon, and there is Mangkuto in Kelapa Gading, Pintu Air, Radio in Kebayoran Baru. Well, i just want to say that : If you're looking some delicious food / snacks that cost not too expensive, you can find it in some local cafe or restaurant deep down in those alleyways in Jakarta.
If you need a food-tour guide you can contact Indonesian Food Vloggers Called Gerry Girianza (I Hope that i typed the name correctly) He almost knows every single place of "Legendary" Cafe / Restaurant in Jakarta that Serves Good Food, Drink, And Snacks. And he speaks English quite fluently. In Fact, Conner Sullivan (Another TH-camr that have traveled in Indonesia just like you) have collaborated with Gerry too. Maybe you should go and do some video Collaboration with him later!
