Brother Jared…I was enthralled in this lesson. For me it was the awful state of knowing I needed to repent…then hoping that I might…then believing that I could…then praising my Father in Heaven for the freedom that was so provided through the gift of His Son….I pray in gratitude every day for this gift of repentance….this welding link to our covenants….gratitude for the love from our Fathers heart for all who will follow His Son. We are so blessed…and your gifted teaching has been an amazing light to my understanding this❤️😇. We love you Jared…Keep up the good work brother👍. David

I too have a daughter who has strayed. We pray for her always. We search for what to do or say. So far we have stayed by the tree and just keep loving her. This lesson helped me to think I should ask her about her story and just listen.
You mentioned that you can’t get to everyone who needs help . But your teaching us to “fish” so we can reach those in our circle of influence. Thank you so much!

To think, if not for Covie, how would I have been able to receive the powerful teachings and guidance through the scriptures with you Bro Halverson?!!
God does have great blessings for us within our trials. So grateful for your time and talents shared. Thank you!!!

Thanks brother Halverson for your lessons.
Yes there are verses and phrases in scriptures that bring tears rolling down my face. And yet there are passages too that gives me hope with engorgement to press on through this veil of tears. I'm grateful for your testimony of your family struggles personally and the testimonies of your own missionary experiences. These move me more to rely on the arm of God than my own understanding.
    Thank You

"Baptism is promising to continue the act of repentance for the rest of your life." You said it so quick and matter of fact, but I've never thought of this or heard it before. I had to play that one sentence over and over. Mind blown.

Thank you for giving us homework, instead of spoon feeding us.
It has made the scriptures more applicable to me, so that I can make them more a part of my life.
I am taking more responsibility for what the spirit would teach me than checking off the box of listening to your podcast.

I believe that sincerity is the key. If I am sincere or my intention is honest when I repent that is different from asking forgiveness with the intention of doing the sin again.

My paradigm shifted this morning. When you asked us to think about the present Alma and sons of Mosiah without knowing their story, they would be considered very wicked and having a terrible trajectory. However, you then clued us into knowing the full story past present and future. The follow up question was awesome to me: which words of Alma do you remember? I loved this perspective, and it helped me think about people differently, to grant them more grace. Thank you for your time and talents. You sharing your knowledge and expertise has helped me tremendously.

Brother Halverson, it seems that just reading sometimes does not have the same emotion and thoughts as seeing and being with someone. That would be why we can read about wars and hungers, are touched when we see it on the news and if we hear it in person, then if affects us. We need this personal touch.

I think there were ALSO children of Amulon (and his priest brethren) among those who fled to Zarahemla with ALMA. Those would have had Lamanite mothers, while their fathers were Nephite descendants.

Seems to relate much to my experience, but have been warned all my life to not trust You guys.
How can I observe y'all in a general passive way, without the pressure from your flock to join up before I intensely study the doctrine over some time.
Thank you hope to get to know you as friends from a distance for now.,shalom.

as long as you have experiences that align to these teachings, this is a good thing. For it is the Spirit of God that conveys truth, regardless of the source. As for trust, that comes in increments according as the Spirit directs and guides. The first step is having 'experiences" such as you have had where you find in relation to your thinking, with 'Unshaken' Feel free for passive instruction, indeed, study pray and be obedient to the will of God and let the Spirit be your guide.
In this thing we remain 'friends' and the door is always open and when the time comes according to your intentions, then we will embrace you with open arms as one willing to receive the covenants the Lord, which has been restored on the earth in these last days so that you can partake of the promises and blessings He is extending to you. But this will not be the end, for when you participate in the ordinances (Salvation) of Jesus Christ, you can be the meridian for all future descendants to receive the same blessings because of you love and concern for their welfare, because you have found the true light and knowledge. In the meantime we pray for you that the Lord will inspire you in your search for truth. To this end God bless you

I moved to Provo and had to put my stuff in the storage while I found a job in the medical field. After one month, still no job living in the mountain in my car. After going to Costco in Orem, 3 or 4 churches I could see from Costco. I went to one close to Costco. The young man escorted to the bishop's office. I came in, and he looked at me, looked at his desk, and never looked at the again. He asked. What I wanted, I told him about I'm from Indiana and here looked for a job and wanted a blessing. He asked if my parents knew where I am, and many other questions in a very cold condescending.I felt like I was just Arguing with him. He did gave me a blessing. I felt so stupid and embarrassed that I left very disappointed. 2011😢

I’m sorry that happened to you. That must of been so disappointing. The Gospel is true regardless of the members, thank goodness. I ‘think’ I would have gone straight to another of the LDS churches and looked for a more compassionate Bishop. How did things turn out? Did you find a job and a place to live?

…. We as covenant member are NOT the older son that stayed with the father. The older son represents Pharisees view of self righteousness. We as covenant disciples are the servants that prepare the fatted calf and bring the robe to the returning son and we feast with the returning son. This parable is 99% mis understood and taught in the wrong context by members of the church. Leading to friction to those that want to return back to church and temple worship. What caused the prodigal son to return? What caused Alma the younger to return? What caused Paul /Saul to repent? It was the manifestation of natural causes brought by an earthquake, plaques. That reflects specific judgments that will be invoked by God before the saviors coming. Just think of the millions upon millions of prodigal sons and daughters that will return to us as covenant disciples of Jesus Christ giving the robes of the temple and embracing them as who they are sons and daughters of God. Even up the very last 1/2 hour before savior starts the 1st resurrection.

For some reason I am uncomfortable when you talk about your marriage/wife (it doesn't bother me at all for you to talk about your wife's work in addiction recovery, etc). I appreciate that the prophets don't talk much about their marriages/wives in their talks (and Heavenly Father doesn't talk much about Heavenly Mother). I am sorry if I am off base, but as a woman, I would feel manipulated for you to speak for me.
