16:50 "You never doubted a word of the creed or the christian confession, but you didn't realize that it was all about a Person. It was not a description of a system. It was a description of a person! And now that you've come to know the person, and because you've come to know the person, you've come to an assurance of your salvation."

Yes, great book and presentation. Timely for me today as well, when I visited someone struggling with these issues. Much appreciated insights.

The love of God for sinners is beyond any love that we can know and experience amongst humans. He is Love. Thank you Rev S Ferguson for your sermon on legalism and the love of the Father.

The statement made is, "Where sin abounds, grace abounds all the more. Isn't the logic of that that if there is grace to cover all our sin, then it doesn't really matter whether we slip or fall. There will always be grace to forgive us. And so, there is a laxity in relationship to obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ."
The problem is, we need grace to abound all the more, because of our tendency to fall back into sin. Even if we want to overcome sin, we still need this grace. If we 1. know that we should not fall back into sin, but 2. do actually fall back into sin, then 3. we will be berating ourselves for our lack of spiritual will-power to avoid sin. So we desperately need this grace that releases us from condemnation, and encourages us to cling to our living hope, Jesus Christ.

Every time we fall, we should remember His grace and run to Him, every sin reminds us of the one who saved us

At the end of the message when he is quoting Romans 5:8 he says the "the Father demonstrates his own love", when the verse actually says (in my translation) "God demonstrates his own love".
