    Hey, Pat. Colorblind guy here. It's basically like he said, we just have a really hard time differentiating between specific colors based on what type of colorblindness you have. I see blues and yellows perfectly fine, but reds and greens are hard to tell apart when they're close together or mixed in together. It's also hard for me to identify shades of blue and yellow that have red or green mixed in (the different orange hues, purples, etc).
    Also, about 70% of of the oxygen on Earth is created by algae, and about 50% is from sea algae. Forests are pretty inefficient at it.

      yup also another colourblind person here , there's 3 type of colour blindness
      deuteranopia and protanopia is the common one where red and green is very hard to be distinguished
      and a rarer one tritanopia which is yellow and blue
      mine is protanopia

    Quick note: People in the Renaissance didn't think the Earth was flat. Most of humanity has known that the Earth was round for most of history. Heck, Talos the philosopher from Ancient Greece even measured its diameter with pretty good accuracy.

    • @lyrlwestrum3971
      @lyrlwestrum3971 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      +1. By around 400, the Earth was proved to be a sphere. Empedocles and Anaxagoras (ancient Egypt) showed that during a lunar eclipse the shadow of the Earth clearly moves across the moon in a round fashion. Ptoleamic proved it in ~350 BC with his understanding of cones, which was expanded on in ~1600 by Sir Francis Drake.
      People in the past weren't more stupid than us. They had less information, for sure, but they were not more stupid.

    The goldfish one is an untrue statement because goldfish don't just grow to fill the space. They have a size that they grow to. Unfortunately, goldfish kept as pets often have their growth stunted by being kept in too small of a space, which stresses them out and decreases their lifespan. 😢

    1:54 if I remember correctly terminal velocity (the max velocity an object can go) depends on the objects mass, and a Penny is so small It's terminal velocity isn't fast enough to kill someone.

    • @pinkygaming3955

      I asked my brother 😅 whose a professional video game dev and former soldier and majored in physics and he said "yeah you can die from a penny terminal velocity would only apply if the penny was to move itself which it cannot do an objects velocity can be overridden physically if another objects force or mass was greater it could propel the penny using it's own mass as the parameter, If you shoot a bullet from a 9mm it travels at about 800mph if you shot a penny from it then it would also travel at 800mph except the penny would slow down first due to it's face mass being wider than a bullet so yeah a penny at 800mph would kill you instantly a bullet has a 98% chance roughly to kill you in the head, A penny at the same distance would be about 65% only because it'd have to hit you on it's side to pierce the skull so it both can and can't can be true at the same time luck would play a role well we call it luck but luck doesn't actually exist luck is a term used by humans when we aren't smart enough to calculate how something will behave that pennies trajectory could be predicted with 100% accuracy at 800mph humans just aren't smart enough to be able to know what side would hit you but it would make sense physically the best way I can explain that is if you loaded the penny into the gun the exact same way and hit your target at the same distance 10 times that penny would hit that target on the same side of the penny 10 times since the penny can't defy the laws of physics it's mass isn't large enough to do that only galaxies merging, dark matter, supernovae and things like magnetic fields can defy natural laws but only because there is information as humans we are missing again it makes sense we just haven't got there yet to understand how it all makes sense that probably won't happen until around 10,500 or so if humanity lives that long, We're good at destroying ourselves for no reasons humans are flawed by their own progress they can't progress without failing first there's no successful human alive who wasn't a failure first that's impossible." Little tip never ask a genius a question unless you've got 20+ minutes to spare 😅

    The thing with goldfish is that they grow intermittently throughout their life, the degree of which depends on their quality of life. A lot of times when fish are moved to a larger tank they have better water quality and more room to move around so they'll start growing again when they wouldn't with the poor water condition and less room to move. Theoretically if you are extremely dedicated to maintaining optimal conditions a goldfish will grow quite large even in a small tank

    Video idea: "We choose are starters and randomised EVERYTHING, then we fight". How it works is you chose your random starters but you randomise their typing, abilities, and moves(depending on there random type combo). Then you battle. The you rerandomise there typing abilities and moves for a second battle without knowing what types, abilities and moves they have until you enter the battle. This would make the battles so much more chaotic and funny.

    The reason camels store fat in their humps is mainly for energy. The reason camels can travel miles without stopping has to do with the excess fat in their humps being converted to energy for the animal. (They can also use this stored fat as a form of nourishment) This is why you can see camels trekking across the desert for miles at a time (though they will naturally stop to store more energy)

    4:00 We are bigger, yes, but we also grow much slower. Big dogs grow exponentially over 1 single year which comes at the cost of their lifespan for such rapid growth (usually 7 - 8 years vs small dogs that go like 13 - 15 years). It's like if you could trade lifespan of your heart to grow faster, except they don't have a choice. Similarly in humans though you could look at people with gigantism. The amount of hormones constantly being produced that makes them keep growing way past adulthood uses their organs so much that they usually die quite young.
    4:20 Veins are transparent, it's the skin that gives its blue color (hence the light going threw the skin, colors are reflection of light so if light wasn't penetrating the skin the veins would not be visible/would be skin color)
    5:00 Color cones in the eyes. Humans normally have 3, colorblind people have 2, 1 or rarely 0 cones. Cats and dogs have 2 cones. The animal with the most cones, known to man, is the Mantis Shrimp with 16 cones. So compared to a Mantis Shrimp, every humans only see black and white pretty much. (I do wonder how the world would look with such wide color receptacle for eyes... What kind of color exists that we will never be able to see with 13 more spectrum of colors?)
    9:45 People have known the earth is round for thousands of years (way back in ancient Greece, 6th century BC), the flat earther thing has started in the UK from a book published in the late 19th century which became a small organization in the 50s and spread world wide thanks to the internet.
    15:30 "Unless they birthed like 50" Praying Mantis are extremely regulated as exotic pets because they have the very very high potential to become invasive species if introduced somewhere they aren't normally in. They not only birth "like 50", they can birth up to 200 babies at once.

    • @TheReptileWard
      @TheReptileWard 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheReptileWard By heavily regulated I mean that at least in North America, it is illegal to release in the wild non native mantis, except for European and Asian mantis. Only reason European and Asian mantis are exempt from non native is because they were introduced many many years ago in an attempt to combat pest and they are already invasive pretty much everywhere.
      edit: I guess "heavily" is a bad choice of word, they are regulated though.

    The charging to 100% or letting drop to zero, I'm pretty sure are both myths. It is true, that batteries do have abnormal behavior when near zero charge or 100% charge and that these problems will not fix with time. However, these myths are believed based on the assumption that the indicator on my phone that gives the battery percentage is actually the true charge percentage of the battery. In reality, when the phone is at its lower limit and indicates 0% to the user and does not turn on, that is because the phone is designed to not allow you to turn it on when the battery is at its lower limit. Similarly, the phone has an upper limit that is indicated as 100% to the user, at which it stops allowing the battery to be charged. Ultimately, the indicator is made by the designer, and if the designer wants to lie to you or, more ethically, obstruct information that will confuse the user, then they will do that.

    You can still get diabetes 2 without becoming obese tho, with an long term high carb diet (epecially when eating high carb without much fiber) but balanced enough to not gain weight for example. Diabetes 2 takes many years to develop
