Well done to the French players on an incredible performance, but unfortunately I can't say the same for the booing fans. Also, it's pity that Du Pont played so brilliantly but chose not to credit the SA team's performance at the post match press conference and insteas chose to whinge about the referee. That was low class but no one will say anything because in was Du Pont who is treated like a deity.

I think there are a lot of questionnable decisions made by the referee but I want to stay worthy in the defeat. May the better team win the world cup, enjoy the rest of the competition in our beloved country and let's all appreciate a little bit more these amazing final phases!

Ridicule.

We are often on the other side questioning ref decisions and from a South African point of view, there were alot of questionable decisions that went Frances way too. Like you said, the game was very balanced and in the end, 1 point is the difference. If the game was played again today, France would win. The rules of rugby are very complicated, too complicated. Makes it difficult for Refs at times. But Rassie was banned for 6 months for calling out Refs in the past, remember when we played the Lions? They make alot of mistakes

Just to clarify a few things about the ref issue : Im french and that question from the French reporter was scummy at best, and defamatory at worst . Dupont never said the "ref was bad". They said the following :
    - They admitted they thought the quality of the officiating didnt live up to the quality of the game, but that it wasnt that bad either
    - Then proceeded to say that, even if they were mistakes, Ben O'Keefe should never be targeted personally, and that there is an entire team of TMO behind him that didnt facilitate his officiating
    - That they would appreciate if further questions would not go on this terrain, as they dont want to criticise the ref
    - That, by principle, they accept as valid every decision O'Keefe made during that match, as none of them were outrageously incorrect
    - That whatever mistakes might have occured, it went both ways and favoured both FRA and SA alternatively
    - That wathever mistakes might have occured, they take nothing away from SA's win
They were extremely fair and measured in their terms and were also quite displeased with the reporter. Its very likely that they never wouldve mentioned the ref if the topic wasnt brought up in the first place (by that very same reporter btw!!). As usual, just media doing their best to try and stir up drama

Bullshit. Dupont clearly criticized BOK, and he is right doing so. Shameful refereeing. So many 50/50 situations going on the same way.
This doesn't remove the amazing performance from SA. But France clearly deserved the win.
NB : Fiji exactly suffered from the same, both against Wales and England (and it was a French referee...)

    • @testman9541
      @testman9541 ปีที่แล้ว

@@scrivenroanI don't think that anyone in France think ref was that biased that the show was stolen. SA played their game very well. FR made way too much mistakes. But we can still say that ref was bad, simply because the ref team (inc TMO) was clearly not at the same level as both playing teams and not to the same level we have seen in previous tests. There were dangerous and forbiden things done on both sides at key moments with little or no consequences. This is not a pingpong game🤦 Having video recorded and TMO not getting back is not acceptable. I don't know the reason the TMO was almost never calling the central ref on things, but this is a problem. It gives a bad bitter taste to a great test where both teams where at the max 🥂 I do hope the IRB will solve those issues before the remaining games 🖖

Hello, i'm French, obviously, I'm devastated by what happened yesterday. I think we missed a lot of opportunities.
But I just want to congrats South Africa. This team is amazing, I think it's one of the greatest world cup ever, 4 teams that were winners contenders is juste unbelivable (dont know how to write this word haha).
Yes, there was some HUGE mistakes by the referees, not Ben O'Keefe but all the referees. He cant see everything, the guys behind the videos must say something. So yes, lot of mistakes but I cant accept to say that we lost because of that. Yes its part of it, but anybody saying that we lost just because of the mistakes of these guys is not honest.
We made so many mistakes too, some points were not taken.

Very poor question unfortunately. Trying to make someone who had just gave everything they had feel bad for something that was out of their control. The players head is completely in the game while playing, they aren't aware of every small downfall the ref makes during the game. They hear the whistle and accept, that is one of the great things about rugby, that they don't argue with the ref.
If we want to nitpick, he made poor decisions against South Africa too in every game he has reffed in this WC.
All we can hope for is that better and fairer refs will be used in future WC.

I love my team, my country, and my people, 🇿🇦. We had no right to win that game the French were superb. Kolbe!!!, Jesus Christ Kolbe!!! He was my "player of the match". His runs from deep gave us a lift every single time, the commitment for the charge down on Ramos. Kolbe was so switched tonight. I can't even think..... so many players stood up, Kwagga, Eben, Jesse. For the French Peato Mauvaka and Uini Atonio were incredible tonight, I was thanking the Gods when they were taken off. I guess the biggest difference between the two sides was the quality off the bench.

The difference between the 2 sides was the referring. SA has been allowed to fucking disrupt the rucks. Being warned, given time to adjust... It's not always like that. The ref wanted the thing to be clean through granting points on very obvious things. The collateral damage is the french game disappeared in an ocean of small offenses from South Africa. And this has a huge impact on the game as well !

I dont know what world rugby want anymore, one moment, game is to stop start, the tmo should be less involved, then SA are commiting (what you are classing as) "small offences" to slow the game that should be penalised requiring a stopage... France Lost, great game well played, but you lost. If you were the better team you would have scored when it was 14 v 15. Infact your last try came in the first half. Blame your handling errors or your lack of positional awareness or your 3 missed kicks.

    • @edouardmontfort7816
      @edouardmontfort7816 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@Jay.D.Smithy Which offenses ? Watch the game again, south Africans falling on the french side of the ruck to disrupt the thing regularly. Or trying to intervene when not allowed, the ref saying "noooooo", "release", "let gooo"...sometimes 2-3 phases in a row. That's totally killing the pace of the attack ! Or 3 times the ball gets out of the french ruck "by itself", and it's regathered by SA, while the players around are raging. And ultimately you miss 1 point. Just a single penalty out of everything that was ignored was enough.

I fear I'm getting too old to ever see that happening now. It will be one of my worst memory to ever face in my last moments in life... that's what I'm feeling today.

J'ai peur de devenir trop vieux pour voir cela se produire maintenant. Ce sera l'un des pires souvenirs de mes derniers instants de ma vie... c'est ce que je ressens aujourd'hui.

Well... That's one way of seeing it.
Then what about Rassie's comments prior to the game (on refereeing mistake that would give the win left or right) ? Losers' complain?
      Facts:
-1995: referee got a golden watch prior to the match between FRA & SA
-2011: Craig Joubert admitted his numerous mistakes during NZ-FRA final
-2023: I can list all the mistakes going one way (and if you want the very few that were in favor of FRA), but you will say again it's a loser's complain
France were stolen the win several times.
      Commonwealth always refereeing commonwealth.
What would you think of a Belgian or an Andorran referee for a FRA vs SA quarter final? just for fun...

The All Blacks won even though Wayne Barnes was trying so hard to let Ireland win. Even that last passage of play, Ardie got the turnover before Sam did, and so many instances like that during the game. So don't come out here and blame the ref, when you had so many opportunities to win the game. If this is the mentality of this french team, then you will never win a world cup.
