You should really listen to the investor calls on stream. They are such an eye opening experience on the companies direction and the amount of crafted language they use to hide subject matter and progress.
Meh. I just play until I don't want to. like any other game. As far as the vid, it was good until about 20 min mark and you started losing your mind lol...in a very respectable and entertaining way of course.
played for a few year, first on russian server launch, then on NA launch, and ended up quitting before the first major update (back when housing was single time purchase, and pvp started at level 16) started playing again at console launch as my gf was super hyped for it. She had been playing for about a year and change at that point, and was hyped for console because she liked using controlers more than keyboard and mouse. she played console constantly for a long time, I quit after about 6 months. she was one of the top lifeskiller players in margoria pirates, got all her ships and eventually just had nothing to do and was getting pissed that console was always lagging. eventually the console parity copium died. so she switched to pc. and finally after the better part of a decade she finally abandoned all hope in bdo. she realized one day that she had done little more than afk and organizing khan and other boss runs for the guild she was in, and it wasn't fun. so she decided to quit about 4 months ago. There is a lot to do for a new player in bdo, but the catch up mechanics insult the vets, and cash out high dopamine to new players who then go on to realize that any meaningful upgrade is literal months away. vertical progression games are all doomed to the same fate.

Gear has 0 meaning. You have no end game for it besides mob killing for hours in a circle. Pvp is mostly capped especially the pvp most play at and has the biggest competition. And pve doesn't exist. I quit BDO after playing since launch because they didn't allow me to buy my sovereign. Gambling is against my religion. So I had a way to enjoy the game and be competitive via farming silver. Now, I need to violate my beliefs. I understand why they made the change, to force everyone into rbg to sell costumes for crons. But that change convinced me and a few friends who have been long time players to leave.

This is why I quit in 2020. I remember struggling to hit a tet ogre ring on my main account on NA (though im from EU, friends played there) and lost like 20B silver trying to do it. Meanwhile I used to log in like once every 1-2 months on my EU account just to collect rewards. After a bit of time I got like 1-2B silver on EU, some crons and some valks. I bought like 2 TRI boss weapons and 1 tapped them to TET, sold those and had enough for a TRI ogre ring. Tapped it to TET. I said fuck it, I still have plenty of valks around. I sold it and got 3 more TRI ogre rings, of which 2/3 went to TET. I sold one and kept one, and then I bought a TRI disto. Yup, you guessed it. I 1 tapped it to TET. I had 20B and a tet ogre ring, I literally got in fucking minutes more than I got on NA by playing the game for a year or more. Will never touch a game like that that doesn't respect your time. NEVER. I watch content now and then hoping maybe they get rid of this RNG bs. Nope, never gonna happen. This was eye opening. I'll just leave it in the trash and entirely forget about it.

The reason why people are doom and gloom on BDO is because the devs working on it are changing it so far to cater to casuals but are doing it in every wrong way possible. Then they want people to grind and stay playing for so long but doesnt give any proper reward. Its literally worse than D4 or PoE or Last Epoch where you grind better gears to do the same content again and again.

As you said there is no reward, no real incentive to grind, especially for end game/veteran players. Even with sov weapons out, I have had zero desire to come back to game myself, because there is no reason for me to grind to make and work on them. At least for games like D4, PoE, LE, one those are arpgs. But farming maps, grinding, saving currency for better gear, or crafting better gear, actually seeing yourself become stronger, blasting through shit, clearing screens, that is all genuinely fun to do. Whereas grinding in bdo, is so far from being fun. Grinding has never exactly been a fun part of bdo but we all did it so we could pvp, so we could compete. But with so many changes made to the game, made to pvp, things being stripped, so much being capped, there is just zero point anymore.

But yeah I agree, I had zero desire to actually play, I had no reason to, my gear was basically done, so had no reason to grind. As you said pvp is basically dead, though I do find rbf fun once in a while, but it's kind of the only place with uncapped ish pvp. With sov weaps out I still don't have a desire to actually come back, since there is no point. So yeah I am pretty much done with the game. Waiting for T&L f2p release, then D4 S6/expansion start, then poe2 early access after that.
