Lovely area. I think that you brought out the best in the scenery and the attractions of the wildlife. Plenty of birds with a few nice shots, along with those rabbits that didn't seem in the least bit frightened by your presence. Take care and thanks for sharing...
lovely video, cracking place to camp, epic views, I always put a sml groundsheet under my bivvy bag stop damp from the ground getting in, thanks for sharing, cheers craig
The strange thing is the next night I was on Sandsend beach photographing the moon over Whitby, and a guy came up to me with the terrapin in his hands, he had found it in a rock pool on Sendsend beach! He said he will take it to the Tropical World in Leeds! What are the chances of that, a freshwater terrapin swimming all that way, Steve.
Very sneaky wild camp but really glad that you did and that you shared it. Stunning countryside, scenery and wildlife. The stars, constellations were amazing. Bivvy bag camping is a great way to spend a night if it keeps you dry but with a skyscraper like that it hardly matters. I still use my Brit Army Goretex bag and it is marvellous. Thank you for sharing. Happy wandering. Paul :)
I didn't get a great deal of sleep, I couldn't stop looking at the stars! I have only had the chance to do that a couple of times, due to the weather, but I will make more of an effort in future, really enjoyed it. Cheers, Steve.
It's a great experience camping out under the stars with no tarp or tent. I saw lots of stars and meteorites. You don't sleep much I was laying awake in awe! Thanks for watching, Steve.
looks like you had a very nice holiday, despite the fact that you had to sleep out side a night (-; amazing how that coastline resembles the French one. even the building style. . thanks for taking us.
Nice video mate...Great scenery... Did just the same on our family Cornish holiday a couple of weeks ago!! Snuck out for a quick Coastal overnighter..😀 ATB - Marcus
Hi Steve. Sadly my plans were scuppered this weekend but I'll definitely be up there sometime during the next couple of weeks. It was a great sunrise rather than a great video! I need some decent camera kit and a lot more expertise. Keep your wonderful vids coming!
i have just purchased a Snugpak special forces bivi bag this week, not had a chance to test it out yet. Yours has got me wondering about it now and they are not a cheap item too fantastic vid
Hi John. I've used this about 10 times, only 3 times in wet conditions, and each of those 3 times my sleeping bag has been damp on the outside? I hope that mine is faulty and that yours will be fine? Although my Stratosphere has the same problem. I suggest using a tarp as well. Let me know how you get on. Cheers, Steve.
I finally got to camp here last night, in the old quarry. Great weather and an abundance of wildlife. The only downside was having to clear up the mess left by some inconsiderate campers. Thanks again for a really lovely little film. TJ.
Interesting you say that - there was a green tent a couple of hundred yards away from where we pitched. We didn't notice anyone in it throughout the evening, so after we'd packed up the following morning, I went to investigate. I didn't get a reply when I called out so unzipped the tent and had a look - nothing.....no mess, and no sign that anyone had slept there the night before. My main concern was obviously that someone had come to some harm but that didn't seem to be the case. The tent was in good condition so I left it where it was. The rubbish that we cleared up was close to where we pitched and not where the green tent was.
TJ Outdoors We were holidaying in Sandsend last week, I had a few early morning/late night walks up there watching the roe deer and birds. I saw the tent from a distance, the deer didn't seem worried by it. Hope you had a good night, did you see much?
Like you, we spotted a couple of roe deer. Also a cormorant on the shoreline, fulmars and a couple of curious pied wagtails. It was a nice, relaxing camp finished off with your tip of eggs and haloumi for breakfast and a potter round Sandsend in the morning. Just the tonic I needed.
haven't watched this one in a while mate, and i forgot to comment before. lovely little camp, can't beat sleeping on the coast! funny question, but what trousers are you wearing in this video? are they quick drying? look pretty decent and i'm after some more walking/outdoors trousers. cheers atb Tom.
Hi Tom, they are Fjallraven Vidda Pro Trousers. They are expensive, but very good quality and tough. You have to iron in wax to make them waterproofish. I like them for the woods as you dont get bites from insects through them unlike other lightweight trousers. OK for the hills, but better with more insulated ones in winter. Thanks for watching and commenting. Steve.
@@craftywildcamps cheers for the reply mate appreciate it. Yeah they are a bit pricey but I'll have a look on eBay for some second hand ones. Cheers pal, keep up the great work, hope your back is feeling better after the car accident. Atb Tom.
Great trip. As for the Bivvy bag id replace that and go for a new in bag mtp british army one. Just a tip.

I'm Yorkshire born and bred and although I've visited that part of the coast many times, I've never been to Sandsend, what an utterly charming place.
Amazing - Monday does not seem that bleak anymore - very chilled Vid

Hi, it's a nice part of the UK. There aren't too many little costal villages like that anymore, it's like stepping back in time. Cheers, Steve.
Just watched your video again, very inspiring and beautifully filmed 👍🏼

Cheers Marcus, I saw your video, great stuff. You have to take the opportunity when you can. Steve.
Really enjoyed this, especially as I'm heading up there tomorrow from South Yorkshire for a wild camp. Thanks for the tip about avoiding the woods!
Hope you have a great time. Will you be doing a video? I see you have done a great sunrise video already. Steve.

Had someone left a green tent there?
