I always liked the Squiggle Vision because, for me, it implied nervousness and apprehension in the characters which made sense because the show is about Brendan Small as a kid. Kids are nervous about everything new in the world, and adults are nervous about all the things of the adult world. I know that's not a blanket statement, but the technique pointed to a naunced subtle emotion all the characters were feeling.

Such great memories and I really related with Brendan. Still a fan after all these years. The ending episode "Focus Grill" really hit heard. Fantastic show. Can't recommend it enough.
I just rewatched the whole series on Hbo Max. Just finished focus grill this morning.. it does hit super hard... ive been feeling a profound sadness all day lol. I LOVED the show when I was a kid. To see his camera hit the ground, get run over, and break into a million pieces runs parallel to the fact that we'll never get to go back to those carefree days.

this is one of my favourite shows of all time, it was hilarious and thoughtful and stupid and relatable. So good, music, characters, dialogue, everything. I legit no it by heart no joke, that's how much I love it, me and my brother were just talking about it not being facted and now it is!!!!!!
If coach McGuirk sounds familiar it's because he also provides the voice for Archer in the show of the same name. He is also the voice of Bob from the Bob's Burgers sitcom.
I think it might have been worth noting the similarities between the Pesto twins and Walter and Perry. And that Brendon Small has guest starred on Bob's Burgers.
My kids and I have loved this show forever! My daughter often had insomnia and we would watch it together. I love Bob's burgers but it doesn't quite match my love for Home Movies! This answered so many questions I've had over time esp if they improved and I also think it was funny the 8 year olds were so precocious. Great info!
at least they finally got around to mentioning "Lucy, the Daughter of the Devil" near the very end. sure it only lasted for a single 11 episode season but it damn near blew away everything they ever did before. even with all of their success with Bobs Burgers, Lucy still holds up as one of the best things that ever came out of Loren Bouchard and Jon Benjamin

Thank you, for posting this. I did wonder why Paula quit the show so soon. I actually think her voice made it funnier than the actress who took over the voice of Paula Small. Paula Poundstone just has better timing & she’s really funny comedian.
This is probably my favorite show. I felt sad I didn't watch it when I was younger, then I realized I'm only 13 and I'm growing up with it so I can think about the good memories when I'm older. I do that a lot.

I actually finally watched this show in 2020. I remember the commercials during WWF Smackdown in 1999/2000 but never cared to watch it. I assumed it was a wanna be South Park, being that was the biggest animated show at the time. I really missed out because i love it now. Easily my top 5 animated sitcoms ever.
speaking of Easter eggs, there's an episode of Bob's Burgers (S8 E12) around the 15:30 mark where there's what definitely appears to be a Brendon Small done in the Bob's Burgers style at waiting outside the soccer field port-o-potty.
