I had the pleasure of visiting this club back in 1990. It is by far the most realistic layout I have ever visited anywhere in the country and should be a standard for anyone constructing a layout of any size. Further more, the video and the sound editing is truly outstanding. Please check out WW II PT Boat 623 for more video and sound editing.
Love it .. Glad to hear that this layout survived .. i was apart of the Burlington Norther Model RR Club that was in King Street Station Until the Railroad asked for the location back for Amtrak's development. . the club didnt survive the falling move ..
Awesome and excellent layout and club. Have the original layout tour from Model Railroader (I do believe). Was wondering if you guys thought about doing a re-visit tour in MRH magazine. Would love to see that.
The Rolls Royce of HO layouts. The rolling stock does not wabble, and the diesels do not sputter. I only wish it could have been designed so that a public visitor could safely survey or meander more thru the central part of the layout, not just the edges.
most ppl say that the La mesa model railroad club is the biggest, but the Pasadena model train club has more track so its technically bigger than the La Mesa one.
+Michael Mohrmann hey ,if anyone else wants to learn about model railroad track layouts try Stiklind Model Train Fixer ( search on google ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my m8 got great results with it.
That is one cool layout!!! Wish I was there to run my Amtrak California Zephyr train there!!!! Who owns that Golden State train??????!!!!!!! Who makes that?
I've had the Oentrex DVD for many years now. It looks like an updated one is needed. Great lauout!

I can't even imagine how long it takes to clean the track. Moving trains out of the way to clean the track and then moving them back
Excellent layout my compliments sir and thank you for sharing awesome video
EXCELLENT LAYOUT!!!!! I have the VCR tape, now it looks like i need to buy the DVD. Happy 70th and keep up the good standards.

The layout is still in DC, however, there is a small spur that is DCC controlled that goes to a minning area near Powderhorn.

I have a friend that is presently working toward becoming a member of this club, And they would have a talented person, once he's a member.

Holy cow! Amazing.
Wow, they turned that locomotive quickly!
at 2.06, both locomotives are facing forwards.
at 2.08, one is reversed.
How does that welded rail train work? Are the rails made from flexible plastic or rubber?
LOOOOOVE IT
So we're is the rest of the video.

Germans build great layouts but when Americans do things like this layout, NO comparison! This layout is the BEST.......
