I'd take this tier list as weapons "in a vacuum." Ambusher got absolutely nuts buffs (every last hit results in a kill, boosted throwing knife capacity, medkit availability) that lets them function well as flankers and offensive support classes. I've been able to frequently top or near-top score charts as Ambusher with zero issue due to these factors. In the hands of an Ambusher specifically, Dagger and Hatchet go up to A-tier due to the bonus damage they can get from backstabs + the offhand knives that are always available to chuck out. Big issue is they're generally stuck with whatever weapons they ended up with, so they don't do well (like engineers do) with swapping their weapon out for a halberd or dane axe or the like. Just enter fights where an ally has already engaged, use your medkits to keep your ally alive, and focus on getting your backstab damage off as often and as safely as you can.
@@angelhood101 Ambusher feels like a win more class. If your team melts every time each wave makes contact, you aren't flanking anything as you're going to get swarmed anytime you even look at the front line let alone try to extend. If you have the luxury of constantly backstabbing then your team is probably stacked a little and already winning.
@@Kraken9911 I've definitely used it while one or two down and succeeded as well as ended as MVP on losing team as ambusher. The difference is picking your fights, and knowing when you throw your knives and bide your time if you don't have the ability to engage. I pick my class depending on scenario though and frequently class swap just to get a better ability placed, e.g. when at 2 medkits as ambusher I can swap to guardian for a life when holding down a bridge, since that gives regen to the whole team for most of the ability instead of 2 100 damage heals. The big thing is to be cognizant of how your current class best interacts with the current objective as well as your team's current composition. A dagger Q is fast and will instantly kill a footman (provided no overheal) without them getting downed. If you see an enemy crawling away, dagger them for a free kill and to force them to respawn. If you see an enemy using a bandage, they're slow and animation locked and nearly dead. Free kill.
Messer has weird animation and hit box from my experience. It always hits from further away than you think it can and because it's so skinny, it's hard to track visually in the hands of a player doing advanced level drags and feints. It gets even harder to deal with if the user has the black blade skin.

I definitely get first place all the time with the falchion. I’m hoping people don’t catch on to how good it is because I like feeling special because it’s a steep learning curve for it’s range, but once you get it, it’s OP
Really accurate list. I like that you clarified that this is mostly for team objective. The two handed spear is GODLY for team objective. I mostly play 1v1s however, and I’ve found that the sledgehammer is extremely good in those situations.
Great tierlist, I really liked your reasonings and you always explained the positioning of the weapons very well. Its nice you always related it to the weapons above and below.
The 1h axe is a beast, very high damage for the speed but also allows you to confuse enemies with the overhead morph and it cleaves. The length is barely a detriment past a certain point. The light slash also deals more damage than the warhammer on vanguards, allowing for takedowns on a single hit. Not sure about the reach difference with the warhammer. It seems about the same, if so it might even belong on the A tier.
I get the best results with the axe and shield that overhead gets almost everyone, some players can intercept it with a fast attack every time and I haven't found that to have much with skill level since I tend beat them as long as I don't use the overhead. But I have serious problems against good players who can dash backwards.
Mallet is underrated. If you play with slow main weapon it is a life saver, no one plays with it so no one can read the animation. Btw. Great tier list :)
I remember the days when the shortsword was an absolute monster. The speed made whoever wielded it a blender for groups and it was godly in 1v1’s. I will say that the war club was done dirty though, it’s easily A tier in by book because the reach and speed are excellent, and although it’s damage isn’t the highest, other two handed weapons have a really hard time dealing with it on account of the reach and speed as well as the recovery time of each hit, and heavy attacks can decimate groups of enemies because they go out so fast.
I don’t know why everyone says the Morningstar and the mace is the same. The mace is slightly faster, the Morningstar has a slightly greater reach. I’ve tested them back to back in duels, alternating between rounds and sometimes during rounds.
This! This is also why I prefer the morning star. It’s reach catches some ppl offguard when they try to outspace you, especially its stab. Also it’s a spiky ball on a stick that makes it a very lovely visual with it’s skins.

Yeah that's a good point! I was also thinking really hard about whether i should put the messer into S tier. Was really close. I can understand everyone who says the messer should be S-Tier! But in my opinion the GS is just better overall for the team objective mode.
The knife is quite underated in my opinion, if you know how to use it you can be quite vicious and a force to be reckoned with. Definitely not the best secondary but my favourite one.

Chain with a blade maybe not, but I for sure agree with a flail of some kind. Flails weren’t amazing in the most part, but absolutely shone in the open ground battle style of Chivalry, when wailing on helmets like crazy and not worrying about space.
I love the pole hammer, popping the overhead special attack from around a corner or out from behind cover is often an instakill or at least good enough to completely wreck their attack
Executioners axe is definitely better than the highland after the nerf. Its almost equivalent on range but the executioner is faster and does bonus damage to knights and footman. I've been maining it on vanguard just sprinting around spamming heavies and it absolutely slaps.
Been loving the officer class lately. Longsword stabbing and overhead feints for most encounters. Can switch to the axe for some chop chop in larger groups. Good times.

cudgel is really good, you just can't play counter with it. Spamming jabs and swings and closing the distance makes it very effective and too fast to predict by many players. I think it all boils down to your playing style. The flachion glaive and cudgel are easily in my top 5. The flachion is my second favorite. Having weak damage but high speed makes it very easy to land charged attacks which compensate for weak damage. Good luck charging with those high damage weapons. .
This is a great list. Personally, I have a strong affinity for the Dane Axe and would rank it in the top S tier. I find it to be highly effective against opponents at any level. The only weapon that can give me trouble is a Spear, due to its hit markers. I feel uneasy facing off against a skilled opponent wielding a Spear and Shield in a 1v1 situation. Props to those who are great at wielding the Spear. I can never.
I love the Cudgel. I got into a match where I played poleman and lost my left arm really early, leaving me with one arm and only my Cudgel. Somehow I got 17 take down in that life.
Yeah I think the cudgel gets too much hate, yeah it's stats arent as good as other weapons, as a whole Its my favourite one handed weapon, its just so much fun
Finally some love for the spear. Works so well when allies are funnelled, just hop up poke some holes in lots of people, enemy backs up or dies. All with them being out of range.
The war club is the best weapon to go against hordes and a single player. It is fast and can be VERY annoying if your appointment knows how to use it effectively. I know how to use it and I deal minimal damage. But the amount of chaos and suppression I bring toward the enemy makes it a good all rounder.
Disagree about the battle axe. In close quarters it is the best weapon in the game bar none, damage is immense, as is stamina drain and it's overheads are fast relative to how hard it hits. Most team objective fights end up in close anyway and using it on vanguard allows you to close distance faster. Probably not S tier, but definitely A imo.
I love that a lot of these weapons are balanced to match their real life use, a rapier is an excellent dueling weapon but if you're going into a battle you'll want a halberd
I personally feel like dane axe is S tier and the greatsword is A simply because of speed alone. In a 1v1 with those two weapons, the reach of the greatsword means nothing if you are getting right in their face with fast overheads
Depends on the rapier and sword in question. One-handed and one-and-a-half-handed swords vary significantly in length, as do rapiers, especially when you start talking about things like the style of grip and the specific era with rapiers as well, with earlier ones generally limited on how long they could get because rapiers depended more on the quality of the iron used to make them more than other common kinds of weapons. Since rapiers were typically dueling weapons closer to the end of their lifetime, length was also a detriment past a certain point due to the possibility that the opponent could be within the minimum effective range of when the rapier would be effective. Likewise, past a certain length, it's just a glorified spear, and... well, we already have spears, which due to having a wooden shaft are far easier to produce en masse.
Interesting list. The fact that so many people are stumping for their weapon of choice in the comments makes it seem like the balance is in a pretty good place right now (except for katars 😂)
1500 hr TO player here. This a spot on TO tier list. The only weapons I disagree on are the Dane axe (annoyingly) and Exec axe. The dane axe, despite the range in the hands of even a moderately skilled player has the ability to ping off counters like a pinball machine, making it extremely easy to use in TO as an S tier weapon, low risk & high reward. The exec axe can also easily compete with the halberd and greatsword with a wide area of attack and punishing damage on knights and footmen. Just my 2 cents but a very concise video!
The messer has always been rated s tier because its absolutely flawless in combat for the most part, but also its hitbox extends slightly past the blade. Also the short sword is usually rated s tier because its so fast that it can easily interrupt some weapons’ light attacks. In fact it’s generally been agreed upon that the short sword is so fast that its damage doesn’t matter because you can just absolutely smoke people with it. Side Note: as a war club main I have no idea how you placed it so low, the bonk stick is so goated that its final form is a goat staff! All jokes aside i find the war club to be exceedingly good at 1v1 and 1vX because its damage to knights and footman is amazing, its base damage is fine for its insane attack speed, it can wrap around an enemy’s block quite easily, and there’s such a ridiculously massive discrepancy between its accelerated light attacks and its delayed heavy attacks that you can confuse the heck out of people and its absolutely broken. End of rant lol 😂
I haven't tried this game so I'm making some assumptions but some of those faster, long ranged weapons could be useful if they put the enemy in a hit recovery and you have assistance right?
I'm not feeling the halberd. It seems to drag way worse and feel overall clunkier than the greatsword. I always do great with the greatsword but with the halberd I struggle more to reach the top score. Either I haven't used it enough or it doesn't belong on the S tier with the greatsword. The running attack damage doesn't seem to make up for the sheer drag potential of the greatsword, how you can confuse enemies more easily with the morphs and how you can run around and spam light attacks which will give hits even at the periphery of your vision. I think people who don't practice extreme target switching on a constant basis can't fully appreciate how much dragging and a wide turncap matter.
Since the javelin deals 10 dmg less with its stab than the one handed spear (which is both weapons main attack) and the javelin also has less reach, I would place it into C-Tier 👍
A small tip for anyone who is new, when he says a weapon is good for 1v1 but not Vs multiple enemies if you can try to keep a secondary which is good for that so you can be prepared
Well this is pretty close to how you would grade these weapons for real medieval battle although the poleaxe and "polehammer" should be a lot higher same as the glaive and one-handed spear which in real life should all be a tier.
Hello! I would like to know, if the Chivalry 2 for Steam have real-time progression? I mean, even i get disconnected, i will not lose the match EXP and Gold?
I pretty much agree with 98% of your opinion of ranking the weapons. I dont understand why would you put War Axe in B tier, most importantly under Executioner Axe. Executioner Axe under my humble opinion is the worst 2H axe in game (just sliiightly better range over all rest 2H axes, but less damage and speed) War Axe should be placed between Dane Axe and Polehammer in A tier. Sword is superior to Longsword in almost every way. (Not very logic but true) Longsword have 23 range for slash while Sword 22 (Greatsword 31, Halberd 33, 2H Spear 40, for comparison) while sword have MUCH better speed, and just -5 dmg. Not to mention you can also use shield with it. Also, Cudgel should be at least in the C I believe.
Thanks a lot for your comment! I can definitely understand your opinion! But in my opinion the executioner's is definitely the best axe after the dane axe because of its potential in groupfights. The extra range makes it so much easier to hit more enemies than it would be possible with the war axe or battle axe. And while the war axe for example deals slightly more damage, judging from my experience the little bit of extra range of the exec axe lets me have more impact in groupfights and in the team objective mode in general. The attack speed of the exec axe and war axe is almost identical btw 😉. I also understand why you would rate the sword higher than the longsword! It was also really close for my evaluation of both weapons! But in the end of the day i believe that the longsword has the edge because its light stab deals 55 damage in comparison to the 45 dmg of the sword. And the stab is DEFINITELY the most used attack when using the longsword because of its speed and damage. Also after using both weapons for a long time, I always think that the LS has more potential overall. But i can 100% understand your view since both weapons are really close in terms of their potential in TO mode :)
@@xylar9630 War Axe has only 2 less range. But now that I looked the numbers again, I see those axes have same speed, with exe stab even faster. So you are trading +2 range for 5-10 dmg, and being unable to oneshot archers ( + WarHorn? :) In case of knights )
@@xylar9630 Also, in comment you probably forgot on Dane Axe, as you proclaimed Exe Axe the best axe :D Dane Axe range is short, but that overhead chopping speed is too nutsy + recovery time. Each time I play Axe Knight, when I see Dane Axe, I pick it :D
@@xylar9630 Btw, from looking to that weapon list I linked above, I just noticed Heavy Mace is actualy quite a beast. I would definitely put it to middle of A tier :) Never used that weapon, but definitely will try it next time I play first match.
Tbh i have an easier time fighting multiple ppl with a mace than with an axe because of hit stop making your recovery very short if you hit wich is quite easy with the mace because of its deceptive overheads and stab speed. Also noticed it still has the same problem as in chiv 1 where its super easy to drag behind the parry box especially with alt overhead and alt slash just like in 1
I agree with the tierlist, but the better you get at the game, the less it matters. A good player should be able to make any weapon work extremely well.
I wish so bad vanguard could use a longsword. I was playing vanguard the other day, got my helmet knocked off and picked up a longsword, seemed so wrong but felt so right. that was the best game I ever had. Went like 24 and 0, (Not my most kills but highest streak for sure)
Fire dmg is idiotically op in the game. Just walking past fire on the ground set you on deadly ablaze. If fire had been so deadly when humankind invented it for the firs time they would have killed themselves on the spot. :D

While I learn a lot from these videos, I still can't get over how almost everyone seemingly didn't know how to block attacks 3 months ago. Nowadays, the Asians on my server can block with their backs facing you.
I don’t honestly understand why everyone says the cudgel is so bad. I mean it’s not great, but I regularly bop knights and footman to death with it on my archer without getting touched. It’s fast as fuck boiii

I love the Cudgel. I got into a match where I played poleman and lost my left arm really early, leaving me with one arm and only my Cudgel. Somehow I got 17 take down in that life.
Same shit except o got left behind in a duel and it was my teammate vs a highlander .. and I noticed a cudgel lying on the ground and it won the day
Yeah I think the cudgel gets too much hate, yeah it's stats arent as good as other weapons, as a whole Its my favourite one handed weapon, its just so much fun
The Messer gameplay was insane. Good tier list.
Finally some love for the spear. Works so well when allies are funnelled, just hop up poke some holes in lots of people, enemy backs up or dies. All with them being out of range.
Every good player knows it. It’s so good that it’s banned from tournaments hence why it’s getting despised a bit (and not many play it)
The war club is the best weapon to go against hordes and a single player.
In a 1v1 with those two weapons, the reach of the greatsword means nothing if you are getting right in their face with fast overheads
sledge can move up a tier because it does insane extra objective damage
Rapiers in real life are as long (or even longer) then a longsword, would be a good buff to the weapon, also a bit more slash damage
Weird to not mention ranged weapons at all but overall I agree with your list.
Because ranged weapons deserve their own tier for weenies.
@SuperCatacata hey >:[. Archers have feelings too 😢
Longsword out of S is insane to me it feels like it’s in competition for best in the game
Well if I came to a duel it would be my second choice but for large amounts of enemies it just doesn’t work as well
Interesting list. The fact that so many people are stumping for their weapon of choice in the comments makes it seem like the balance is in a pretty good place right now (except for katars 😂)
Spear being at the top is just historically accurate
1500 hr TO player here. This a spot on TO tier list. The only weapons I disagree on are the Dane axe (annoyingly) and Exec axe. The dane axe, despite the range in the hands of even a moderately skilled player has the ability to ping off counters like a pinball machine, making it extremely easy to use in TO as an S tier weapon, low risk & high reward. The exec axe can also easily compete with the halberd and greatsword with a wide area of attack and punishing damage on knights and footmen. Just my 2 cents but a very concise video!
Ive got less than 100 hours and i fully agree. Guess ive been learning fast
Thank you for this post!
Maul is honest to God once of the best weapons. I love it so much
The maul is also one of my favorite weapons! But it certainly has its weaknesses! 😁
@@xylar9630 yeah, most of it can be avoided with footwork though.
@@joryjohnson8108 Maul with feint and jabs plus evasive steps.. OH BOY you make the entire enemy line to stop charging and think
@@DaveO0808 yeah, also drags with maul are super powerful for throwing off timing.
Agreed, came across a maul player today who was destroying everyone with it. Absolute beast of a weapon if yk how to use it properly
Longsword and messer without a doubt need to be in S tier. I’d also move war hammer higher in A tier and move war axe up to A
I haven't tried this game so I'm making some assumptions but some of those faster, long ranged weapons could be useful if they put the enemy in a hit recovery and you have assistance right?
I know it doesn't quite fit in this table, but where would you put the javelins? As strictly melee weapons, I'm inclined to put them as C or D.
Since the javelin deals 10 dmg less with its stab than the one handed spear (which is both weapons main attack) and the javelin also has less reach, I would place it into C-Tier 👍
@@xylar9630 That makes perfect sense to me. Thanks for the reply!
I mean, even i get disconnected, i will not lose the match EXP and Gold?
man after my own heart with those messer accels
Ziggylata pwns with the rapier everithing.
amazing tier list!
Ive been enjoying running a messer and two handed hammer to bonk knights
I love these weapons aswell!
@@Playmodik You're right i forgot about the dane axe for a sec. I edited the comment now 😁
@@xylar9630 Btw, from looking to that weapon list I linked above, I just noticed Heavy Mace is actualy quite a beast. I would definitely put it to middle of A tier :) Never used that weapon, but definitely will try it next time I play first match.
Really nice tier list. But how would you rank the main archer weapons?
It's hard to put them into tiers but I would say warbow is best and then: javelin -> crossbow -> bow -> throwing axes
what about battle field weapons like small pickaxe or normal axe that you can find across the map
Good question! Maybe I will make a list on these kind of weapons aswell soon!
@@xylar9630 would be great to also include the throwables like anvil, bell etc ;)
Mace in my opinion should be a tier because you can one shot anybody with the special attack if you do it from behind them
Tbh i have an easier time fighting multiple ppl with a mace than with an axe because of hit stop making your recovery very short if you hit wich is quite easy with the mace because of its deceptive overheads and stab speed. Also noticed it still has the same problem as in chiv 1 where its super easy to drag behind the parry box especially with alt overhead and alt slash just like in 1
Are you going to make a video of weapon tiers for duels? That would be awesome
I agree with the tierlist, but the better you get at the game, the less it matters. A good player should be able to make any weapon work extremely well.
The highland sword was broken on release
glaive is a awsome secondary weapon in duals becouse the speed throws people off
That's my go too when there is cavalry.
Bro forgot to put candlestick and broomstick in S tier smh. Not even allowed to spawn with them. Too op
hahah true 😂😂
You made them all look like S tier in this video
I really love the falchion i will stick to it cx
I wish so bad vanguard could use a longsword.
I was playing vanguard the other day, got my helmet knocked off and picked up a longsword, seemed so wrong but felt so right. that was the best game I ever had. Went like 24 and 0,
(Not my most kills but highest streak for sure)
I zoned out as I watched the GS casually glide through people like hot steel through butter and forgot why it's S tier
The War Axe feels better as an Officer than the Longsword. I can't explain why.
Fire dmg is idiotically op in the game. Just walking past fire on the ground set you on deadly ablaze. If fire had been so deadly when humankind invented it for the firs time they would have killed themselves on the spot. :D
Battle Ax should be tier 1 . Got multiple 50+ kill games with little death. This weapon melts teams.
What graphics settings are you using?
oh damn... ive been owning with the crudgel, didn't know it was bad tho
Someone should pin this list written in comments for those who don't have 30 minutes and don't know all the pictures
That Messer clip was really nice. I love the smooth accels and dodges.
do you think the nerf to 1h & 2h spear made a difference? i love the spear weapons and always play them but idk how much the changes affected them
The changes are almost not noticeable 👍
@@xylar9630 that's good to hear as a spear main. Thanks for the great tier list video, the explanations for each weapon was really informative
Why is the poke axe b tier and the halberd is S? Aren’t they basically the same? Pls explain
The only weapon you have wrong is the Short Sword. It IS S- or A+ especially in 1v1s.
Everybody talks about how good the halbred is. I mean I only have 15 or so hrs on it but it just feels so slow. I mean I'm not a very good player but I'm not trash either. That sprint attack is sick though. Guess I just need more time with it.
Very well made video
While I learn a lot from these videos, I still can't get over how almost everyone seemingly didn't know how to block attacks 3 months ago.
Nowadays, the Asians on my server can block with their backs facing you.
I’m a long sword player all day. I play with a heavy emphasis on stabs
Light Mace with a Shield is just op
Why isn't the bardiche on the list? Or do they fall under halberd?
I dont understand why the battle axe is in B tier just because of short range.
I don’t honestly understand why everyone says the cudgel is so bad. I mean it’s not great, but I regularly bop knights and footman to death with it on my archer without getting touched. It’s fast as fuck boiii
I really hope the katars get something soon, I still love them though.
Also, hi (:
Hey Sora, nice to see you commenting again!! :) Yeah the katars definitely need some love!
Is the morning star really EXACTLY the same as the mace or are there some minor differences?
I've used both and I definitely prefer the Morningstar. It pops the enemy's head like a watermelon 😂
Greatsword is my weapon of choice
I played a Scotsman wielding Katars today. Was it you? I’ve seriously never seen anyone use them before.
good video thanks 👍
i don't like messer and the axes are realy good for me, the battle and war axe. hight land and long sword are maybe better than great sword. hammer aren't so good and mace is usefull against sheild. a good idea is a tier list fort each attack rt, rb and lb.
Falchion is def labeled at least the worst tier of a good weapon
I definitely understand your view! It was really close when I evaluated the weapons!
For such a small creator, u rlly got some of the highest quality content on the platform.
Thank you so much! I remember we played together yesterday! TK-Hans told me what you typed after I left, was really nice to hear!👍 I hope we meet again soon!
@@xylar9630 I'll see you in the battlefield my friend
Level 15 about 24hrs in on x box series x. Favorite weapons are messier, dane axe, mace & shield and bow.
Good choices! ;) Although i think the warbow is exponentially better than the bow!
Don’t understand why they hyped up the katars and then decided to make them dog shat
How do you turn so fast around while you attack?
