Thanks for this - i was able to use the tutorial in dec 2023 to get me up and running. I had a previous version of wfview (1.5) installed and run into audio problems, downloaded the latest version (1.64) and audio on transmit and receive worked fine! Not done much /M or /P this year, but hoping to get back out and do a POTA ,hence the old versions and using an apple tablet previously.
ICOM are leading the way, I've the 7100, 9700 7610, all runningRS-BA... If i was a portable op, sure i would get the 705. Great video, very professional 👏
Worked for 3 Minutes then the audio from the cheap virtual audio cable started surging. Surging so bad it’s unuseable. When you try to tune it surges from nothing to alc max- at like half second intervals. Tried everything to fix it and nothing. Love some help, I figured it was too good to be true
Hi Ryan, what do you meanby surging? Virtual audio cable is signal routing software. It has level control in the mixer settings but that's all. I haven't seen that here.
Great tutorial. I have reached an agreement with a friend who is offering me his 3 year old Windows Surface Go 1. Will it work with WFView and the other programs?
Be careful. I downloaded the 3 programs, installed them, and rebooted as directed. Windows crashed and tried to recover (blue screen of death) 4 times, then finally started correctly. Maybe restart after installing each program?

@@VK3FS Hi -did you put the radio in access mode wifi set up and set up a password then connect the PC to the radio before it worked ? thanks for reply
@@HamTechRadioScannerDrones You'll need a username and password for either access mode. That's what you'll enter in the user/password fields in wfview just under the connect button. AP mode for out and about - yes to your question.
Andrew great info thanks for posting. I followed your instructions and got it (WFView WSJTx) up and running on my 705 test cat turns green and test TX turns red. Reception of FT 8 is great the only problem I have is I CANT TX! I have spent @4 hours trying to get the 705 to transmit. It shows a red TX like it’s transmitting but 0 SWR ALC or Po PSK reporter shows no signal after multiple CQs. If you have any ideas where to look? Much appreciated! Using a windows 10 Surface Go. 73
Hi George. I take it RX is working fine. From what you've said, it sounds like there is a blockage in the audio path. Use the audio meters in the Windows Sound Conrol Panel to see if you can see the audio leaving the PC. In the video at 6m20s you'll see a pic of the green signal indicators with the vb-audio. The virtual audio cable patches the sound from the PC into the radio. On the radio make sure the radio is in the SSD digital mode not SSB - you'll see USB-D under the TX button. On the video at 0:38 you'll see a pic of the radio with USB-D. Finally check the Data Mod on the 705 is set to USB. You're so close. Good luck.
know this is a very old post, but seeing it saw the response in forums and downloaded a later version of wfview fixes it, afaik its fixed from version 1.55, just in case people are reading/following the comments.
@@VK3FS Gday I got it working with wfview and wsjtx not using VPE just vb audio which gives me 3 vb ports just got to get sound into laptop lol cheers Harry vk2dwt
i have a Icom 7100 on the host PC wfview is working... but I can not get the remote PC to even connect to it even over my home network .. all my settings match..
I got my IC-705 working wireless, almost. However, VB audio isn't coming up in WFview or WSJT-X. Only my laptop audio is coming up. When I click on Tune, no power or ALC is coming up, no matter the power output on the radio. Not sure what I missed during set up, but I'm at a loss. I can receive audio, decode and Test CAT is green, Test PTT is red. Even put in the IP address and UDP in the Network Services section under the reporting tap. Not sure what going on, but I'm 99.9% there. Just the last little bit to get my radio and laptop to work properly is quite challenging. Any suggestions would be appreciated. 73, W4ISB Mike.
Hi Mike. You're very close. It sounds like the VB Audio hasn't installed correctly on you're PC. Can you see it in your PC's audio settings? Look in the sound control panel. You should see Cable Input as a device. I suspect you can't if WF-view can't see it. If it's not there, a re install may be required. It sounds like the virtual com port is working fine, it's just the audio routing to and from the 705. 73 Andrew
Hi Tim. That could be many things. My suggestion would be to follow the flow of audio from your PC to the radio. It'll be a process of elimination. Maybe try a different PC if you have one available. See if that's the problem. Also, try a USB cable and see if it clears it. Good luck.
the down load link for vspdxp, when installed, does not look anything like your video. And the software is clearly telling me it is a 14 day trial. Please help
Hi Peter. Follow this link www.eltima.com/products/vspdxp/ Click the blue download button and wait 5 or so seconds for the 'save as' dialogue box. I've just tried it here and it seems to be working fine. See if it works for you. Cheers, Andrew
Hi Ray, msvcp140.dll is a part of "Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Packages. Sounds like an environment variable isn't set correctly. Try reinstalling the package again and see if that helps, failing that ask in the wfview support forum as that library is distributed with the software. forum.wfview.org/
After installing the VB Cables they appear backwards when I try to select them in WSJTX an wfview. When selecting Input there is only a selection for VB Output and vice versa. Any suggestions to fix this? 73 KO4EUF.
Hi Scott. I'm not sure what you mean by backwards. In your Windows 10 sound system, do you have a VB Cable option in both the Playback and Recording tabs? (Scroll down as it's most likely at the bottom. at 2:48 in the video) Cheers Andrew

Don't you need to go:
MENU > SET > CONNECTORS > MOD INPUT = WLAN
Otherwise no modulation on TX
