A musical giant.
Elton is one of the best performers around. I seen him live (with Billy Joel) in Cincinnati in march 2009. It was the best. Since they were not promoting new music they did the older stuff and he did extended versions that you don't hear everyday.
His reaction time is unbelievable. He missed a couple of chords, realized it, dealt with it, corrected it, and moved on without missing another beat. True greatness here, people.
I had the honor of seeing him live. I sat 3 rows back from the piano. It was so healing and transcending.

It's a tribute to his genius and talent, that he can still perform this song. I saw him do candle in the wind playing accoustic guitar. No one believes me.

How come this song never got any air-time it deserves here in the U.S.? Heard this song first overseas in 1994 and was surprised that this song was recorded in one of his first albums.

I was there!!!
he had throat surgury in the late 80's ever since then his voice dropped a few octaves, but he trucked on and transposed all of his music when he plays live for 3 hours. He cant hit the high notes or do any falsetto whatsoever, but man he has a strong voice! even at the end of 3 hours of really tough songs!

I'd say the other other around. The US does have its great talents! But who's licking whose boots? Not so sure. I like to think that... Well, just read the beginning of my post.

Ok...I LOVE Elton, yet this was awful. I kinda got the feeling this was an off day, yet a terribly sad vision of what is to come....
Then only thing I hate about getting old is watching age greedily grasp those I love.
