This was incredibal. They played right at the pyramids infont of King Tutt's tumb. I was fortunate enough after serving in Europe in the Army, I was fortunate to get tickets for these shows. Wow being with bill Walton and 100 other US dead heads. Really made my heart sing by the Suez Canal. Amazing, just as good as the '90 and '72 European tours. But in the DESERT wow and using Tutt's tumb as an echol chamber. Blew my mind.
King Tuts tomb is about 400 miles South, Suez canal is some distance away too and if i remember correctly was a closed area for military reasons. There were more than a hundred American Deadheads there and quite a few European ones too. Are you sure you were actually there, I was.
alan sperling Everyone was on acid if you had any clue, I got on the bus 71 Providence RI and walked up to Jerry pre show, shook hands and asked him if I could get behind the amps for the show and he let me! I know many of what's still left of original members of the family and what started with the acid tests and Kesey,is still happening ! Peace my brother and sisters ⚡️🖖🏽⚡️🎸⚡️
Thank you for your service Alan. I too am an ex-Army vet. I just wish we served at the same time. This was probably one of their greatest shows on earth. Buy the ticket, take the ride!😊
If you love the Dead Egypt, Deal is the best Deal on tour, get all of the show, best one, they were in the Zone Jerry & Phil. The show moved me i was their & it was the best in a long time! Watch it for yourself ........
Julie catch a rabbit by his hair Come back steppin' like to walk on air Get back home where you belong And don't you run off no more. Don't hang your head, let the two time roll Grass shack nailed to a pine wood floor Ask the time baby I don't know Come back later, gonna let it show. I say row Jimmy row, gonna get there, I don't know, Seems a common way to go, get out and row, row, row, row, row. Here's a half dollar if you dare Double twist when you hit the air, Look at Julie down below, The levee doin' the do-pas-o. I say row Jimmy row, gonna get there, I don't know Seems a common way to go, get out and row, row, row, row, row. Broken heart don't feel so bad, You ain't got half of what you thought you had. Rock you baby to and fro Not too fast and not too slow. I say row Jimmy row, gonna get there, I don't know, Seems a common way to go, get out and row, row, row, row, row. That's the way it's been in town, Ever since they tore the jukebox down. Two bit piece don't buy no more, Not so much as it done before. I say row Jimmy row, gonna get there I don't know Seems a common way to go, get out and row, row, row, row, row.
this is good. i love 77/78 dead. gotta say though that their setlist in egypt was strangely unadventurous. it was the sort of set you might imagine they would play in omaha nebraska or columbus ohio. they could have whipped out some of the blues for allah material or "eyes of the world" or even "dark star" but didn't.
I still don't really understand what this sing is About. Don't get me wrong, I understand the individual little phrases of defeatism and encouragement, the foibles of life and such... But the narrative is so vague...what's the story that led us to such dire straights, and to what end shall we row? The music is so good, tho. Reminds me of Mark Twains Mississippi.
hey man columbus ohio feels the burn with that statement. were not LA but were no underdog! eyes of the world > dark star > mountains of the moon > terrapin station coulda shoulda woulda.
charlie .something The reality is somewhere in between. Not their best, but not their worst either. It was a little laid back but some good song performances
This is the tightest I have ever seen GD play. Their sheer enjoyment of this spiritually enlightened shows shines through. It looks like it was HOT, and BW probably wasn't allowed to wear his shorts in Egypt. Donna - no matter what, would not ever tie or clip her hair bc it annoyed her.
Egypt….wow….what a sound…. Like magic!!
Beautiful version. Donna was more of a plus than people give her credit for.
Amazzzzing!!! I feel like I am there now! I'm celebrating from Jerry's birth til Aug 9 passing.... taking all the music in. Blessings!!!
Ahhhhhh to be there.......One more Saturday night please!!!!!
The sound quality on this is superb

Yeah, Valley of the Kings is not near the pyramids. Oh well, maybe they were that night! Looks like a good time was had by all.

Jerry was so fucked on H at this time. A great event. But a bad time
I heard that they planned on doing dark Star there, but decided against it

I had that same thought.
