I watched the replay of this game with friends in the Philippines, where 3 cushion and caroom/balkline billiards used to be very popular in the 1950s-1970s. With the emergence of Efren 'Bata" Reyes, the pool games, 9 balls etc supplanted its popularity. Nowadays, one can hardly find billiards tables in pool halls because the younger generation is focused on the other games. By the way, Bata Reyes was once a great billiards man. He played the likes of Thorbjorn Boomdahl, but eventually changed his sport where the money is. Can't blame the man. There are more nine/ten ball tournaments worldwide. Unlike in Korea, Viet Nam and China, and Europe, Billiards is widely popular. Thanks UMB for a great tournament! I watched all the matchups. Those up-and-coming young kids are really playing great!!
