Willie Hugh Nelson (born April 29, 1933) is an American musician, actor, and activist. The critical success of the album Shotgun Willie (1973), combined with the critical and commercial success of Red Headed Stranger (1975) and Stardust (1978), made Nelson one of the most recognized artists in country music. He was one of the main figures of outlaw country, a subgenre of country music that developed in the late 1960s as a reaction to the conservative restrictions of the Nashville sound. Nelson has acted in over 30 films, co-authored several books.

Carole King (born Carol Joan Klein, February 9, 1942) is an American singer-songwriter who has been active since 1958, initially as one of the staff songwriters at the Brill Building and later as a solo artist. She is the most successful female songwriter of the latter half of the 20th century in the US, having written or co-written 118 pop hits on the Billboard Hot 100. King also wrote 61 hits that charted in the UK, making her the most successful female songwriter on the UK singles charts between 1952[contradictory] and 2005

I grew up on country and I did have and was loved 26 years worth of tomorrow’s since 1994 he passed away six months ago today good strong country love never stop loving each other hard this song Reminds me of him and life past. Peace and love each other

No one sounds like Carole King and Willie Nelson. Authentic. One of a kind.
Carole is fantastic. But just listen to Willie.. forever the song is more important than the singer.. he quietens his voice to allow Carole’s unique tone to embrace the soul of the song. Willie’s sensitivity around the lyric makes it so tender. They paired so beautifully.
Agreed - Willie was comfortable enough in his own skin to not try to outshine her....just let her sing and enjoy the spotlight. Entertainers could learn a LOT from Willie...!

Right, too much overjoyed, and that's a pity.. I've always thought she wasn't a very good singer, but this was far below level.. as well it was for the vocals of Willie.. And I know it was because it wasn't his key, but I think Carole should have been sitting behind her piano and not standing on stage singing next to Willie Nelson.. those two voices don't match at all..

Watching Willie or Carole sing a duet with ANY artist is such a treat. I've been a fan of these two for over 40 years and never knew they did this song together. What national treasurers they both are.
We are all so blessed to be living in the same life time as these two.

I was a lonely teenager looking for those 3 words. Unfortunately the only time I ever heard them was when the door shut! This song, even to this very second, brings the tears and shame. But thank God I did find a beautiful man with a beautiful heart with who I devoted 37 yrs of my life. Until death did we part. But as I said this song still brings tears.

This present day generation will never come close to the music that was made during this generation and it will last forever I doubt that about the music out there today.
So funny, I so clearly remember my parents saying the exact same thing, as well as about actors. My mom would say that "our" generation's music was a bunch of noise, couldn't understand the lyrics! She liked and occasional Beatles tune i.e.: Michelle, Fool on the Hill!
I agree. If that saying was true we will still be listening to tribal music. There is plenty of music today that will last. I am discovering the 80s now (and I thought the 70s were the best!). Maybe one day I will chatch up! (and I was a teenager in the 80s)

i can remember my parents saying that our music ( 50's rock and roll) was crap compared to country and western, but this is comparing music to music. i think what we are comparing now is music to poetry to a beat. rap and hip hop isn't music is rhyming to a beat kind of like the beatniks from our generation. it doesn't require a singing voice. you can argue music to music, but not rhyming to singing. most of these guys can't sing.
Most of the music today is like Raman noodles, made out of plastic and very bad for you.
