Spent five years of my twenty three at Colt, now live just a few miles away. Have visited the heritage centre a couple of times, well worth a visit. Stood outside the guardroom for the first time on the afternoon of 29th October 1972.

It should never have closed. Living as I did in Stallham I loved watching the Jags go off and dogfight the Yanks quite often, I miss Norfolk so much. For various reasons I cant move back but I do love it and to find this channel is magic for me.

Our family were stationed at RAF Coltishall between 1967 and 1969. Dad was an air traffic controller and had actually been posted there in 1966 but we lived in Norwich until accommodation at the married quarters was available. 226 OCU along with Royal Saudi Air Force Lightnings were operating there at the time.
I live in Australia now and have been back several times only to see it in a much altered condition with a prison and fences around many of the former family houses.
Hopefully I may get one more chance to visit and drop in at the heritage centre.
