    What is the minimum amount of sample that can be analyzed?

    • @Bruker
      @Bruker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there, the sample material applied must suffice to mostly cover the ATR crystal. Our monolithic diamond crystal is 2 x 2 mm in size. So you can quickly see that it depends also on the density of the sample material. Typically, ~10 to 20 mg of material is enough for ATR to work.

    If my samples are solid hard 4mm tablets kind of things, Can I directly place it on prism without grinding it if I want to know the composition just on the surface?

    • @Bruker
      @Bruker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly! In this case, you would get the information of the surface itself or a coating that has been applied to the tablet. This way, also contaminations (or residues) can be detected on surfaces. If the surface is metal however, it would be best to use a reflectance analysis.

    can I use the ATR technique in the analysis of coated fiber-type samples?

    • @Bruker
      @Bruker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there, it depends on the fiber and type of coating used, but yes - you can!

    Does the ratio of two differents peaks heights remain the same both in transmission and ATR spectra?
    P.S. Thanks for the video!

    • @Chaotarch
      @Chaotarch 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could you elaborate? You mean like, if you want to compare an OH band to a CO band? As you can see around 2:40 the peaks in the ATR spectrum at ~600 and ~1500 are rougly the same height. In the transmission spectra however, the peak at 1500 shows almost the double intensity compared to the peak at 600.
      This is because in ATR, lower wavelengths take more time to travel through the sample (due to the refractive index), hence they are more exposed to absorption.

    Can I use ATR FTIR to analyze blood samples?

    • @Bruker
      @Bruker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are some publications on this topic and there are parameters that can be assessed by ATR-FT-IR analysis of blood or blood serum. However, this type of analysis has not established itself in the field of human medicine, so far. Just take a look at scholar.google.com by searching ATR FT-IR and blood.
      Hope this helps!

    for honey ?

      ATR-FTIR can be used to quantify the main sugars. There is a publication from a portuguese university from 2015.
      Search google for "Application of FTIR-ATR spectroscopy to the quantification of sugar in honey"

    Can i use ATR in the analysis of apixaban suspension ?

    • @Bruker
      @Bruker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on the suspension and what kind of information you want. If it is a thick slurry, the liquid will be most likely pushed aside by the ATR stamp and you will mainly get signals of the solid. if it is a thin suspension, the result may vary a lot.
