I wish I could hear Yellen or other officials from the Fed answer to that statement.
The US' bank regulation is totally insane. It amounts to zero regulation. Everytime they're even slightly constrained, banks burst into tears and run to their lobbyists. The Lobbyists readily have the support of the entire republican party, but they can always pick off a few democratic votes by using these threats. I am amazed at the plain disconnect between average conservative American voters and the Republican's actions in congress, they couldn't be anymore different. We are the only country to go through a financial crisis and come out of it with _less_ regulation.

I used to work at CS back in 2018. It was terrible. The technology infrastructure was nonexistent. The entire Prime Brokerage business was run from a series of Microsoft Excel sheets. Senior management was unwilling to invest even a penny into improving the technology. I would have to work long hours just because the antiquated tech would delay my ability to work. I did not stay long.

The negative impact of SVB and SI debacles has been reflected in the regional bank ETF (KRE) which has witnessed a decline of over 20%. This event has triggered contagion effects, dragging the entire market lower. However, historically speaking, a localized and narrow contagion of this nature presents an opportune time to invest in strong, financially stable companies with substantial cash reserves on their balance sheets.

We underestimate the fact that banks are corporate entities also governed by greed. Since 2020, the banks have been over-leveraging their assets, which was one of the reasons for SVB's implosion. I have never been okay with keeping much money in the bank. I simply invest through my financial advisor, collect my profits, which I then spend.

The best is the dry humour that Patrick may become a financial Comedian that the gallery on the dirt in the middle of the Globe Theatre to watch as humans have gone backwards when the earth brings catastrophe as I just read a continent is splitting at the rift valley . The worst stupidity that I have ever witnessed when Japan allowed nuclear reactors built without walls high enough for the Tsunami that risk management failed to consider that the Japanese government still has not arrested the builder of that facility for gross negligence. The moment I witnessed the World Trade Center completed my next prognosis was the stupidity for a plane with jet fuel would be planned because New York City is the capital of Capitalism with someone angry enough to plan long term to destroy but that action wasn't accomplished for decades that I envisioned in my crystal ball as at least women are not burned at the stake or drowned for our ability to warn about future events that most men except the few because risk Assessment is the first objective of any company to maintain a business. My father did not raise me to devalue humans that haven't my intelligence as that is a product of my ancestors having the courage and bravery to survive after leaving the old world for the new. I am the last of the Norman family but some still remain in Kent as confectioners that my dad located in 1943.

As someone at a European bank risk department, I had a read through of the financial accounts of Credit Suisse, and apart from getting the feeling of impeding depression that their team probably had while writing that, the bank seemed in okay-ish health. Yes, deposits have halved in just a single year, but their Liquidity Coverage Ratio is well above regulatory minimum at 144% despite falling from 2021 levels. I struggle to see why the bank took such a beating.

A bank needs to offer something more than "have liquidity". As this video explained, the bank had been badly managed for years so customers and employees flee from it. It's like wondering why a restaurant serving bad food is struggling, just because they haven't poisoned anyone.

The first rule of neocon economics is to create a solution for a problem that doesn't exist yet.
The second rule is to create the perfect conditions for this problem to arise.
The solution is CBDC and the problem is US regional banks which funnel in lot of cash from local depositors and SMB.
The nordstream2 demolition wasn't just to stick it to Russia or keep it theirs EU "allies" onboard the Ukraine ship, it also remove German economy out of the picture. The German economy relies on three foundations: competitive small and medium businesses backed by solid regional banks, and cheap energy.
By removing cheap energy, you remove German SMB and regional banks in one go.
What's taking place is a consolidation of the economy in favour of global corporations on both side of the pond.
CS has taken too many heats and has a justifiably poor reputation but it's not necessarily in that bad of a shape, I think its demise is wanted because it is a Swiss, not an American, bank.It cannot be controlled by the Fed.

Woke up on March 19, 2023 from San Francisco to read that the Swiss Government sold out that bank to UBS. My gut has always been right because my mother was trained accountant teaching me since I could count the cost of everything and what a Balance Sheet required no loses from income at my tender age of 6. I never believed in Capitalism because was eating the children thus would eventually would bring survival back to our farm that I watched my grandfather manage as he also was assistant manager for the Great Western Sugar Co in Billings, Montana. Bank runs and interest rates affect bond prices as everything stopped March 13, 2020 having unique knowledge obtained from my father regarding VIRUS that affect humans and animals my prediction was correct but early by six months. Risk Management was my number one subject in 1984 but females must feed the children that men are too busy with egos to manage risk thus only females should manage ALL finances as Russia took my advice in 2014 to protect themselves from the war that my nation would launch because dying from deindustrialization thus required more profits from the EU just to maintain profits since the rule of 20%into R & D hasn't been done in corporations for years falling behind the nations that do.

If the Swiss authorities close down this bank; that would mean there's one less place for oligarchs to hide their stolen money; drug dealers and others to launder their money, and certain individuals to hide assets from taxing authorities. As all of this is a major contributor to the Swiss economic system, authorities are reluctant to do this
