    Holden he gave Christopher Walken a list of weapons that he wanted. Walken runs a protection company with access. Walken when he got the list: "this is a war." Hence the rocket launcher.

      From his heavy breathing in that scene you can tell how infuriated he truly was. Yet he still managed to say that so calmly. It was truly impressive.

    One thing most people don't realize is that creasey is slowing bleeding to death during the movie. If you pay attention to when he swims in the movie (which is like a baptism), the red cloud gets bigger each time, so he knew the farther he got he was a dead man by the end as long as he gets everyone that was involved and her out he is okay with it. Between that and Rayburn saying that creasey would bleed out if he didn't get some rest. He actually hints at it when he tells her he is off to the "blue bayou" during the exchange at the end. I think he knew he was gonna die before they got the chance to torture him.

    • @BrandonFlint-ro2ns
      @BrandonFlint-ro2ns 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The gunshot wound he got when going after the main guy's family sealed his fate for sure and he knew it. He knew he wasn't going to survive another day which is why he agreed to the deal so easily.

    • @davidmanning2859
      @davidmanning2859 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @BrandonFlint-ro2ns the gunshot wounds I am talking about are his wounds from when they took peeta. The doctor and/or cop tell him he needs rest so his wounds will heal. I think he went in with the mindset from that point that he would probably die, but as long as he took them with him, he was okay with it. Once the voice confirmed she was alive, the way he reacts is to me that he has to hold on to life til he gets her. Once he gets to her, he tells her he is going home to the blue baouy (heaven/afterlife). He is basically giving into death once she gets to her mom (hence the look back at them). Him holding the medallion while mumbling is his prayer to God for acceptance right before he passes.
      The gunshot he gets when chasing the brother recollapses his lung (its mentioned when he is in the hospital that he had a collapsed lung). Yea, it does speed up his death but I still think he would have probably bleed out at the pace he was going.

    Man, I loved this movie! The relationship that evolved organically between him and the little girl and how he was willing to do anything to get revenge and then eventually get her back. I always thought he deserved greater recognition for this and Crimson Tide rather than Training Day.

    • @davidmanning2859
      @davidmanning2859 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think the main reason everyone praised training day was because he was the bad guy which was against type for him. Most people thought while watching Denzel is good guy in his movies, so they probably kept trying to justify what he was doing, thinking he would ultimately be good at the end. I agree man on fire is underrated (so is fallen), but training day is still fairly iconic. All you gotta say is "King Kong ain't got shit on me" and people will know what it is from, that and "you wanna go to jail or you wanna go home?".

    I also believe one of the most important scenes is when Creasy tries to kill himself and when the gun doesnt fire he calls his friend Rayburn. As the rain pours down on him a completely broken man he looks up and sees Pita looking down on him like a guardian angel. In my mind that's his turning point. He knows he's the one that is supposed to be looking out for this little girl but in reality shes been put in his life to save him. It's a brilliant concept and it changes Creasy completely until Pita's kidnapping . That in turn turns Creasy back into an assassin . Great movie. Maybe my all time favorite. Thanks for the great review and insight.

    There was originally a subplot of Denzel sleeping with the wife. But that was cut out of the movie. The original ending also had Denzel surviving to meet the head kidnapper, then revealing he hid one of those bombs in his ass and setting it off, killing them both.
    In the original book, written by AJ Quinnell, Pita actually does die and Creasy lives. Man on Fire was the first in a 5 novel series with Creasy being the main character.

    The way they used over half the runtime to establish Pita and Creasy's relationship and the fact they cut all the romantic elements is what elevates this movie. Without that it'd just be another action movie but you feel a real bond between their characters which I'm pretty sure reflects Dakota and Denzel"s working relationship. Any hint of romance between her mother and Creasy would have ruined his character he was a broken man filled with regret and shame who found redemption in loving and protecting an innocent child.

    • @SusanaCanales1
      @SusanaCanales1 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah no I’m glad they cut it out. She had a husband she’d loved up until she found out what he did. She’d be in no place, emotionally or mentally, to be pursuing a relationship with anyone right off the bat, especially with the bodyguard who’d revealed what her husband had done. Not to mention whatever trauma she’d endure from her husband killing himself in their house. That’s still pretty tragic. Idk who pitched the idea but the movie just being about saving pita and her bond with Creasey was the better decision.

    Denzel probably has the best lines in this of any of his movies. Just so many great lines in this. :)

    Was loosely based on a true story. Sad that Tony Scott committed Suicide yet his Brother keeps the company the created ScottFree alive and still making such amazing movies. The scene where Denzel gets drunk and tries to commit Suicide. Denzel actually really got drunk for the scene. He wanted to portray the scene realistically so he got wasted. Lol
