Everybody talking about how sad it is that rollerblading died & how they "USED to skate" - Go buy a pair and start again! Rollerblading is only dead because we all went soft and quit lol.
well.. i didn't go "soft". I had two torn ligaments in my knees and my knee pains are so bad that i can completely forget to do it again, even if i wanted to. And i'm only in my mid 30's. Most people stop because they've fucked up their bodies to the point where your doctor tells you to quit or get ready to be in a wheelchair 10 years later.
Aggressive Inline's downfall is so unfortunate. I was a young kid during its height of popularity. My big brother skated for senate. I used to love watching him perform tricks; it was like he was a god or something. Not trying to rag on skateboarding or bmx, but I'd rather be watching this any day. BRING INLINE BACK TO THE X GAMES!
addy no doubt i was sitting here think when I was at the skatepark today...what really happened. Great idea fun to do but it just fell off. And i have my theories after running into some people in the industry, they just aren't likable characters. Most I honestly feel were spoiled kids who once they grew up realize they couldn't be spoiled anymore and found real jobs. Unfortunately for other sports I don't feel bikers and skateboarders were products of spoiled kids. They just wanted to build on something they felt special. That is just my take. I still love to rollerblade but even back in 2007 I could see it was dying away and in 2017 its dead.
Andy another thing the sport went dead when the style changed over to skinny jeans. It wasn't us and never was. It never will be. Its just the way it is. People wanted to change over with society but we were always different. Arlo said he wanted to be different and it seems like people wanted to fit in. Shame though I never switched my style I just watched people fade away.
Addy C: I personally think it was just the fact that inline skating could only progress so far...unlike BMX and Skateboarding you have no bike or board to flip only urself ...so basically you can only ever really do spins and flips and simple grinds
This stuff is crazy awesome. I'm trying to start learning itf and I don't understand the comments about this sport not belonging in xgames. Have you seen the skateboard street finals? They're relatively slow. Entertaining, but slow. This sport looks very fast paced and I'm sure the modern xgames crowd would dig it, but the community is drastically smaller.
Not only did the X-Games once sponsor aggressive blading competitions. It was outright started to capitalize on blading's popularity at the time which was greater than boarding
Its because anyone with enough dedication can get good at this, very few people could ever reach pro skateboarding level. Most people can't ollie a skateboard, any goober can jump. It looks stupid and just plain is stupid.
Man I’m back after 18 years , my last pair were the oxigen Argon 3.1 , it’s hasn’t been to hard because I been active somehow ,but dam if it feels good to be back blading again !
I've seen inline skaters go super hard at the skatepark. I saw one guy jump onto a inclined platformed and was able to grind a fence rail. I think he was a sponsored pro. I don't think any skateboard could ever do what that guy did.
I was just going to mention....when I was fifteen, I came into aggressive inline fairly late....I was in Brighton and the best I could do was a basic acid grind on a knee-high concrete waxed ledge. I did a 360 rotation over a tumble dryer....but I gave up as I had too may accidents and bruises, scrapes really, all over arms.... People like Kate Curry, Fabiola Da Silva, Chris Haffey, Alex Broskow and Arlo Eisenberg...all CAN skate....some people are just plain terrible and you would never expect them to get sponsored....Even me...I had to say to myself: 'One day, dream of getting the big bucks off skating...' It requires perseverance and stamina to get lots of medals and recognition from the crowd, to score the highest marks....nothing comes easy, these days....
Helmets should be mandatory in televised tournaments. Not for the skaters' sake, they can handle it, but for the kids out there who follow their example.
Aggressive skating competitions seem to have very high expectations on their skaters like you must hit every trick but skateboarding tournaments bail almost all the time… this sport is severely underrated right now in terms of media attention I think it should be an Olympic sport.
@Louis Williams I used to skate remz mostly, but a good beginning skate is roces, the have wide enough side plates for grinding not too heavy and they come stock with great bearings after that move in to something like salamon at original, pro,or Brandon Campbell signatures they're all dope skates too and razor, usd but they're expensive to es are cheap and well built skates I learnt to back flip on roces they're dope
If you're still hating on inline then your whole way of thinking is stuck in the 90s. What the hell made you click anyway? Shouldn't you be at the skatepark walking around with your board? ...pretending you can skate?
lol i like rollerblading and i think these ppl who put hardwork in stuff are magnificent but its funny to me when ppl take 'games' seriously lol no matter how much hardship or hardwork you put in its still a game and for some reason it really cracks me up when ppl get serious over stuff like these. tho im the same, i feel like games are just for fun lolol
Man this course is so good. IMO I like this style of course alot better that the Fise BMX courses they use now. I do appreciate that Fise still let's them compete though. Everyone else black balled inline years ago.
Hey I am just a kid, so I don't really know much about hard tricks, but why don't they do front and backflips? They have the hight and I have seen a guy do some in my local skatepark. I think I saw no front or backflip, only one flatspin, but that is not the same...
Ive been blading a long time and I have to admit im sad where the spot has ended up. Everyone I know who blades dresses like a hermaphrodite indie wreckage and the current "cool" thing is to barely slide a really difficult trick. What happened to normal people blading with me and sliding grinds the entire coping or ledge? Truly makes me sad.
Ah good times! I use to go to an indoor skate park and inline aggressive skate, and it was so fun. It is weird though because as my skates got to small for my feet, the sport died down. It was almost as if it was meant to be. I would get a pair, but I am in college now and don't want to be looked at weird for skating. Lmao.
havnt been watching aggressive inline scene for like 10 years, but is it just me or is it now just... dull :-| Like, no style, no flava, no energy. A looooot of hard tricks spins grinds slides... but, like no joy, just thinking. I am from the Cesar Mora, Yasuttoko brothers, Matt Salerno.. era, and damn was it something else than i am watching now :-O
It is not in the X Games anymore because people thought this is gay for some reason. I would buy some skates again, but I do not want to be a college kid reliving my 5th grade days getting made fun of around campus lmao. I will probably get a BMX bike tho.
its good to see some sponsorship for competitions but thee somany skater would make these guys look like amateurs. franky morales, alex broskow, aragon....
1)I feel like the skaters aren't fit enough and lack confidence, style and passion. 2)This competition format doesn't really fit the sport. It should be a day of streetskating outside where individual tricks and attempts and judged without time pressure. It'd rather see creativity, style, courage and power rewarded instead of endurance in a pre-determined pressure setting.
you can do all of these tricks (apart from the grinds) without overpriced aggressive skates. fuck I have a pair of skates designed for roller discos that I use to skate ramps and bowls.
Casper Howell lol yeah I can imagine that being true alls you need is good bearings and your solid. I dont skate inline, Although I skateBOARD all the time and I STILL have the utmost respect for these guys along with all other extreme sports. Haters death.

I don't think I've ever watched inline stuff. These guys are super skilled. Its a bummer to see the empty crowd.
Look up Brian Aragon. More accurate watch Brian Aragon - ground control
its hude in asia....500k views....450k from asia prolly lol
4 out of 5 skaters are asian in this comp
These guys were pretty weak
Nope, these guys kinda suck. They don't even look like they wanna be there. @Brett Gardner hell yeah Brian Aragon, now he's fun to watch!

On today’s episode of “TH-cam recommendations during quarantine”: I just bought some aggressive inline skates.
Thank you TH-cam.

Boarding is still awesome, but I agree. Compared to inline, BMX is just boring to me.

There’s just something about the way blading flows 🤙🤙🤙
I miss the xgames 97-2001 when in-line was at its peak
Definitely
0:12 - I thought I was reasonably flexible but oh my god, if I tried that I think I'd shatter my pelvis.
it's not as hard as it looks at all
alZiiHardstylez that is really easy
They are literally doing the most insane stuff with no helmets lol
watch the older X games, i feel it was alot better.

I don't think any skateboard could ever do what that guy did.
Two different sports man
Skateboarding is a much more skilled sport and a lot more fun to watch that's why fruit booting died
this is like saying a MLB pitcher couldnt dunk
One has wheels connected to them…the other doesn’t. Skateboarders can’t do 1440s on a halfpipe either.
Hopefully skating will make a real comeback in 2019 baby
Bad news buddy.

Goto always jumps very late when grinding, the rail is already over when he gets in, this happened every single time for him.
just realized this was the exact game I went to, time really flies
