A spray bottle with dish washing liquid and water mixed then sprayed between the tire and rim help a great deal when pulling the old tire off.
Why didn't I think of that, I lubed it putting it on but for some reason didn't think of it taking it off? Thanks
I appreciate the video, I'm going to try the zip tie method to remove the old and replace the new tire..
Just a thought...remove tire from side opposite of brake rotor? 🙂
Who knows, might be easier. I don't even recall considering which side to do it from.
Use rubber lubricant! Makes it incredibly easy compared to your struggle. You are lucky your tire is bald....a new tire would have fought you much harder.
Having 3 tire spoons helps and a bead buddy. What kind of tire spoons do you have. 🤣 “why do I always try and save some money” That’s what everyone of us says after a bruised knuckle or 2 and a hurt back. Thank you so much for going first.
You're welcome. I'm not sure what kind they are, I bought them years ago off the shelf at my local bike parts store. I'll try to remember to look at them when I get home and leave another response.
@@repairandcreate6192 oh that’s okay. Although the set you have gets the job done I did some research and found that the Motion Pro version has a wider and a more narrow bite. The spoon edge helps wedge into the beed.
@@FogataMexicana I looked, and they are motion pro, model 08-0005. They are 11" long, and they are double ended.
I scratched the rim a lot
That's too bad, you can see I was pretty meticulous with the pop bottle protectors to try to prevent that.
Thanks for making these videos. I’m in the same boat, always trying to save money. I’m going to tackle this project this afternoon.
Thanks for the kind words, they were fun to make, while being difficult at the same time. I keep thinking of making more, but haven't done so in a while.
