Is avr is also fixed on rotor shaft of generator
Sir, why we use main excitor?? Why should we don't send directly DC from AVR to Alternator rotor?
Just think: how you will connect the dc power to alternator rotor.
We need some arrangement to feed power to alternator rotor as its a rotating part.
The system you are thinking is static excitation system, in that carbon brushes are used for sending excitation power to rotor.
How rotor current is measured
sir diode wheel ke baad dc current main rotor ko bina carbon brushes ke kaise provide krte hai? agar yaha rotor ko bina brushes ke de skte h to static exciter me kyu nai de pae?

But buddy, think about how can you change the magnetic flux according to demand of customer. You need to maintain constant voltage irrespective of load on the generator. So, you need variable flux na!!!
