    Just to be crystal clear. I do not want to influence people one way or the other. I just want to let everyone know that I do not like to take magnets out of my cars. I challenge everyone to try no-mag at least once, but if you don't like it that is ok. We each enjoy our hobby in our own unique way, and that is what is so great. You do YOU!

    Ha great bit of provocative content! 😂 I run mag and non-mag - even for novices. The winner every time is adjustable power supplies so each lane can be set for the skill of the driver and characteristics of the car! 💪🏻⚡️

    Great video, Pete. Never felt the need to be apologetic about running magnets - I do with and without. Like you, most of the guests who have raced on my track are not regular racers, and the magnets help (and turning the voltage down, if needed). I have a fair about of turns, and the track seems more enjoyable with magnets. I've never agreed about the "realistic" racing notion. There's nothing realistic about a modern hypercar or F1 fishtailing around a curve. The object overall is to keep the car on the track; some use magnets, some use lead or tungsten, some use a guide as big as a 2x4 to help stay in the slot. We all need good tires. It also takes a certain skill to go fast around a track and avoid violent crashes, with or without a magnet. That said, tuning non-mags is fun and necessary if you are racing in those groups. To each his own...or both. 🙂

    @markphillips5368 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    Good call, Pete. Once the new drivers are comfortable with driving the car without a lot of crashes, it is then time to explore removal of the magnets and getting them to come to terms with driving without them.

    • @Show-MeSlotCars
      @Show-MeSlotCars  12 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      If your track and drivers can handle no magnets then go for it. If they need training wheels then leave them in. If they never remove the training wheels then that is OK.

    Great video! I run with a couple different groups - 1 group is all about faster motors and more magnets. The other has a consensus that Carrera/Scalextric cars keep stop magnets and higher-end cars (NSR, Thunderslot, RevoSlot, etc) are non-magnet. I find both groups to be a LOT of fun - and that's what it's all about - having fun!

    So, this forces me to put my mustard on top of this topic, too, I guess. 🙂 Hi Peter, this is like throwing a snowball, which will let others throw snowballs back. To be honest, I never got the point of no mags are more realistc!??? How can it be realistic, if the cars are guided in a slot and there is no stearing on the stiff front axxles? lol Some just need a reason to justify their opinon. It is wishful thinking and absurd to call it real(istc). Denying the reality is the case here! I often see this and hear that comment, with that argument. Oh well. Could it be more stupid than that, I am asking myself all the time, hearing it?
    Most of us run Carrera slotcars on Carrera tracks. Carrera slotcars are made to run them with Magnets. Otherwise, Carrera wouldn`t mount them into their slotcars. Besides, most Carrera cars do not perform well without them in the 143 and 132 scale. 124 is a different ball game, because they are bigger and heavier than the other two scales. 124`s can be tuned better, too. There is more space inside them. A 132 F1 slotcar by Carrera won`t let you put weight inside them. Their behaviour without Magnets is nearl impossible. Even with PU`s on the rear axxles! Other 132`s, like the KTM are without a Magnet a desaster. The KTM`s are already bad in their driving skills on the Carrera track with rubber tires. They definetly need PU`s in the rear! There are other Carrera slotcars that are too light in the back, so they will need extra weight, as well, as the KTM`s do. I placed weights inside the KTM`s I am driving and all of them are quite better to handle with Magnets, with a Frankenslot/Slotinvasion guide keel, extra weight and PU`s! Than, they are perfect. Without Magnets the KTM`s do not run well, just as others, like the Ford GT, BMW M6, or the old NASCAR cars by Carrera for instance! Those are hard to control with Magnets. In 143 it is a hazard of producing an electrical short -cicuit fault, because they are too light, if no PU`s are installed on the rear axxles. Even with the PU`s, they are too light and are a hazard! Those who ignore that, are learn resistant, or quite frankly said: Ignorants! Period! I had to instal a much stronger tuning-magnet into one of my 143 Carrera Ferrari 488, simply because the motor stray was so extrem, that it would deslot nearly in every curve and the stronger magnet holds it quite good therefore! It runs fast as hack and if I would run it with a friend, he/she would simply loose the race because of it.
    Other brands do give you more freedom of running them without Magnets, like Revoslot for instance. They were built for that. They behave better on the tracks and are made for serious racing. Not Carrera though. It is a considered as a toy brand here in Germany and was known for it since Carrera came out. But the old Carrera systems were better and more reliable. I am talking about the Univesal and 124 Carrera system. You could run them without Magnets, because they were more heavy and simply had no Magnets inside. But ever since Carrera changed its ownership, it had changed and the old systems were abandoned.
    This chinese stuff, that Carrera produces today is not made for serious racing in my opinion and it is made for home racers in special. Even if there are many clubs here in Germany and they really take it serious, they also often ignore this fact. It is hard to talk to these, who ignore the reallity and the result is often disappointing. For both sides. It is quite frustrating sometimes, to even have any arguments with them, because they are like kids, who are stubborn. The Digital 124 scale leaves you more room for the Carrera cars to tune them up and run them without Magnets. There are much more better tunning parts available, than 132`s have on the aftermarket. Here, it defintly makes sense to run them without. But the tunning issue is not the topic here, so, like I mentioned before. There are brands, that allows you to run them without, but for sure it is a different issue with Carrera slotcars. Those, who want to run them without, should be aware, that they need some good tunnings, before they will give you fun.
    And, this is the main issue in general. To have fun, and not to argue about it too serious, because the restrictions and limits are there and should not be ignored!
    My opinion, your opinion. My fun, your fun. Just keep it real and not too serious. That only turns off! I have ready now! lol 🙂

Seems to me, as many have reduced their capability of conversation in writting. If I would have said it, it would only take a minute. Writting was once a way to communicate and not to only state an opinion with a few words in the SMS kind of writting. It is obvious, that many have only the size of a pea left in their left over brains, since SMS messages had begun to take over the communication.
