    Wow the Hot Rod Lincoln on my dreams! When I was 16 years old, a growing red blooded American boy, growing fond of everything with an engine in it. With the most wonderful Dad a kid could ever dream of, who himself had a love of big cars, MOPARS in the 60’s, mainly I remember two, an amazing 64 Imperial Crown Coupe, with a 413 Golden Lion push button automatic beauty, then after my 3rd sibling being born, Dad was forced to trade his beloved Imperial in on an amazing 1968 Chrysler Town&Country, but back then that did not mean a minivan, but a fire breathing 440/4 brl Commando powered Beach Wagon, that later on was my daily driver I had buried the speedometer was past 120, into the clock at three o’clock!!! But then it was Lincoln all through the 70’s. Starting with a 1971 Coupe, with a premium gas 460/4 brl dual exhaust engine! I was clocked in radar on Rt.295 in Cumberland R.I., late one night in December 1973, while on leave in The U.S.Army, by a State Trooper, who had just joined the Troopers after a stint in The Army! So he gave me the biggest break in my life, a stern verbal warning for doing 128 MPH!! On radar!!!

    Black on black, seems proper, formal and "correct" for a gentleman's luxury muscle car.

      The Mark 3 was not a muscle car. People today are identifying all sorts of cars of that era as 'muscle cars,' but in almost every case, they're mistaken. They call them muscle cars because they weren't alive when these cars were new - I was.

    Had a 70 in 1991 I bought for $500 when I was in H.S.
    Yep...hydraulic wiper system...cut the wheel to tight and they stop...lol
    Vacuum operated door locks....smoke induced power window switches..if they worked..most of the time they didn't. Great car none the less. I left most cars in the dust when road racing. I had the ole trusty
    "SureTrack" brake system on her..well that's what it said on the pedal..lol
    Wish I could find her..it's been 28 years since I sold her. All I have is the build sheet..which I took from under the rear seat...and a picture I snapped of her.
    Keep up the good work!

    Took my drivers test in one of those when I was 16. Great memories. Buddy's in HS had Mopar's, Chevy's etc.
    Drove my Mom's MKIII in HS and would do 100ft burnouts longer than any of them!

I'm all done with it. The 514 in her is dangerous. I installed an eaton true trac and that helps a lot. Thanks for commenting and good luck with your 74'. These cars are great to work on.

    That timing cover/ water pump/ power steering pump combo was late '68 only. The 462's that it replaced used that crank driven P/S pump. '69 and later 429's and 460s used the standard 385 series front covers and water pumps. Those Lincolns didn't have a wiper delay, but had a 13 speed wiper selector. Heaven forbid you park one with the wipers not parked, and had the blades freeze overnight. They would literally tear the blades off the car.

    Hi, I like your Hotrod Mark III. Thanks for the video, not many Mark III hotrodders posting anything. Very helpful! I also have a black 69 Mark III not as clean as yours. I'm looking to rebuild my tired 460, I have a few questions, why not use a Performer RPM intake, is the hood clearance too little? What headers are you using. One recommendation I have I would not install 3.73 gears without an overdrive trans. I have a old GMC short bed with 3.73's and 28" tall tires (equal to the Lincoln hgt.) the small block is turning 3200 at 65 mph on the freeway, and everyone is passing me, not fun. Post a video once you get the new engine running. Thanks Ed G.

    • @dovergerald1579
      @dovergerald1579 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Eddie G-Force hi Eddie. I did use the rpm performer intake. Fits without any problems. I really like this intake as it is great for low end torque, perfect for the 514.... I had custom ceramic coated headers fabricated from FPA. thanks for the tips! keep on hot roddin!!!

    • @sethbarnes7608
      @sethbarnes7608 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll probably be using the standard performer series, as I have a ton of vacuum powered stuff and the RPM doesn't have the accommodations for the temperature vacuum switches I need

  • @Johnnycdrums
    @Johnnycdrums 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    How were you're old engine tolerances?
    I ask because, it is said by people on blogs that the early models 69-early 70' that the engines were assembled using selected fits.
    I just wondered if it was true.
    I'm leaning towards believing it because early 429 (385 block) Thunderbirds had a power difference you could actually feel over the one year earlier (1967) FE 428 Thunderbirds.
    You should not be able to feel a 5 hp. increase in any luxury car.

Not "murdered out" or overly modified but just tasteful & comfortable. Just asking is all, why not rebuild the car's original engine? Are you getting rid of it or keeping it? Kinda depends. LOL If you already own the car, probably around $20k all said and done for motor and accessories and car upgrades. I spent probably too much on the 514 motor as i used all forged components (Looking back I think the crank is good up to 1000-ish HP. I did this in case I ever wanted to super charge it...But the car is absolutely insane as is so I will not be adding a super charger). Aside from engine there is aluminum heads, roller rockers, intake, carb, March pulley system, water pump, COAN custom torque converter, etc etc etc. Then all the rehab to the vacuum system, Air conditioning system, suspension/bushings, etc, new brakes, blah blah blah. I then finished it off with custom ceramic coated headers from FPA and all stainless dual 2.5" Magnaflow exhaust.... It took me several years to complete. I will have to make a video of the car complete now. Car is a blast to drive!

    Best bodied LINCOLN was the 1978 Mark V V With the Boll Blass in all BLACK! I know that it was a 351M/400, but swap it with a Built 460 with a Manual Transmission, and it will KILL everything on the road...🤬

      Michael Badamo there’s actually a gas tank on amazon that will fit perfectly. It’s sold for a 1968 thunderbird.... essentially the same car!

    This is a luxury car, not a damn meat-head (read : muscle) car. Not every 2-door American car made between 1950 and 1978 is a meat-head car. Mustangs and Camaros are meat-head cars...not this one.
