Panacur for Cancer in Dogs │ Dr. Nancy Reese Q&A

  • It sounds crazy to use Panacur for cancer in dogs. Doesn’t it? It’s a dewormer! It doesn’t cure cancer … does it? Or wait, does it make cancers grow bigger? #dogcancerconfusion! Time to ask Dr. Nancy Reese to do some research.
    Here's our article on fenbendazole (Panacur) with all the details: www.dogcancer.com/articles/dr...
    Sandy calls in to our Listener Line to ask her question. She wonders: is Panacur for cancer in dogs a good idea? She read about it online. And some folks seem to think it really helped their dog (and their own) cancer. And others think it just made things worse. So … what’s the deal with this dewormer, officially named fenbendazole, and cancer??
    Dr. Nancy Reese, our chief medical editor, answers this most-excellent question. She’s interested in outside-the-box ideas, not just for her patients, but for her own family members. And what she finds out about Panacur and dog cancer is both fascinating and clarifying.

    Panacur with supplements have been keeping my 13 year old terminal dog alive and well for almost 4 years and she's still alive and well. After a CT scan and pathology report from biopsy, my American Bulldog was diagnosed with aggressive terminal metastatic anal gland cancer and was given 2 months to live. Two different chemo drugs were given to her to buy her more time but both failed. She needed 5 pharmaceutical drugs for the horrific side effects of Carboplatin and this drug almost killed her and Vet oncologist had to stop it. The next chemo drug didn't really work. I saw Dr. Jones' report about Panacur and started her on low-dose Panacur and switched to high-dose Panacur protocol with curcumin, krill oil, agal DHA, Dr. Jones Ultimate CBD Formula with .4% THC, and various other anti-cancer herbs and foods like cinnamon, dandalion root, and mushrooms like Turkey Tail, Reishi, Chaga, Maitake, Shitake, I'm Yunity. It's a daily fight. You can't take a day off from the anti-cancer protocol.

      Hi, my name is Stella. My dog got cancer, Lymphoma. My family and I we are facing one of the hardests moments. We dont know how to help my dog, the vet said two choices... chemo or put him to sleep. We don't want him to do chemo and of course we don't want to think about the second choice that vet gave us. Everybody deserve a chance to live better. The panacur that I found is panacur 250mg tablet (it says is for sheep etc)each tablet is 250mg. Could you please let me know how much (mg) you used in low- dose Panacur, after how long you switched to high- dose Panacur. My dog weight 24kg. The last few hours he has less appetite I am so desperate and worried, I don't know how to help him.

      @@lela2090Hi, I just read this. I hope he’s still around. Dr Jones (veterinary secrets channel on you tube) he explains the panacur done on one or two of his videos on panacur. I give my dogs Paradigm from Dr Harveys (super green dehydrated food that even has bone broth buy at Amazon) and I cook my dogs meat (90% dog beef, or turkey, or white fish like talapia - no chicken cause my dog itches from being allergic to it when he eats it, and I’m stopping eggs for a bit to see if he’s not allergic to it, will text that later) and ot tells you the amount of the dehydrated food to put per dog’s case of life and weight, water, protein and oil amount. It’s a pricey dehydrated food but he gets full nutrition from it, full moisture, and I don’t have to worry when he eats it. Both my dogs love it. I hope you found your answers by now and if you see this I hope it helps when it comes to nutrition. I use CBD Dog Health’s green colored bottle cbd tincture and the Remedy cbd salve for keeping my dogs lump at bay. Hope the tincture is helping him internally. I used it on the previous dog. They had cancer a few years ago. I might have to get his long to remove wondering about panic care of myself. I really like CBD Dog Health’s products, but I also saw a video on Dr. Jones’ (Veterinary Secrets TH-cam) CBD tincture recently, and because that one has thc, I may purchase it. Maybe even his dog supplement. I am also looking into purchasing from Amazon, Dr. Harvey’s other supplements like this Day and night, sunrise something duo supplement, and this mushroom supplement to that seemed really good. They had one mushroom supplement for the liver that I used for my dog for a while, and there’s another new one for allergies that has a mushroom mix seems interesting too. Wishing the upmost luck to you and your dog and hope you get the answers and the help that you need. 🙏

      The studies are ongoing, for sure, because this is already a big pharma pharmaceutical :-) As our article points out, it operates just like many chemotherapy agents currently in use do. It's an untested chemotherapy agent, however, so it's important to remember that the high doses and long-term use required to treat cancer might result in the same severe side effects as other chemo agents that might be used. www.dogcancer.com/articles/drugs/fenbendazole-for-dogs/

    • @2manycatsforadime
      @2manycatsforadime ปีที่แล้ว

      @Hannelore 777 I am going in circles as well. Most of these vids don't offer enough details nor do they answer questions. Two thousand for a scan is more than half again what a same scan for a person would be, more like 800. I did not have a catscan done, we did blood work and X-ray. That was only 350. Ultrasound would be the next step if we think we would need it. My vet is not holistic however he is open minded, does prescribe CBD oil 4-1 and vitamins. Mostly though like all vets he goes to his pharmacy cupboard. When this cancer was diagnosed I started him on krill oil and ivermectin. Yes I though that was a high dose however in researching that dose is well tolerated. My vet does not have any experience in using this off label so I think he used the dosage as if he was treating paracites.

      @Hannelore 777 Not good. I think we had a little bounce but then a dreadful relapse. The poor boy became anemic and I brought him out of that with Epogen injections. Then he stopped eating and was tossing up everything, even water. Have him on Metoclopramide and that has stabilized him. He is going down hill and there really is not much to do except keep him comfortable. Right now we are on the 4 days off panacur but I keep giving him Krill oil and CBD. If he makes it to Saturday then I will evaluate if we go back to panacur.

But ANY drug used at high doses and for a long time can cause side effects ... including ivermectin, which is really hard on a dog. In what universe do you have "perfect studies" and drugs with "no side effects"? Sounds like this vet, like others in the medical professions, hold cheap, generic drugs to a ridiculously high standard compared to new high-dollar 'blockbuster' drugs.

    • @DogCancer
      @DogCancer  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The studies are important because this drug is currently only used in the short term, and its methods of action when it comes to cancer are identical to chemotherapy drugs currently in use that have major side effects. Using Panacur over the long term and at the high doses needed to treat cancer (not the short day or two required as an anti-parasitic) might be just as damaging as any other chemotherapy drug. Basically, it's a new chemotherapy drug. Here's a more recent discussion: www.dogcancer.com/podcast/drugs/repurposed-drugs-for-cancer-mast-cell-tumors-in-dogs-dr-lauren-barrow/ and here is our full-length article: www.dogcancer.com/articles/drugs/fenbendazole-for-dogs/
      There are MANY chemotherapy drugs that are generic and have been used for decades. Fenbendazole's method of action is comparable to vinculin, vincristine, and paclitaxel, for example, all of which are generic drugs. The reason researchers are considering it for cancer at all is due to this very reason ... it's already doing what current drugs do, it's CHEAP, and already in circulation. Oncologists are always looking for better solutions, particularly ones that regular veterinarians can use with confidence.
