Hi Juan - I've been enjoying these small nymph patterns - thank you for sharing them! For this fly you used Coq De Leon "hen fibers" so I'm wondering if they are a stonger tail fiber than a typical hen feather would be coming from a CDL bird. Please let me know - thanks!
Hey. They are fairly strong but I mainly use them because of the color and length. The speckling is great on these feathers but they are harder to obtain. If you can find them, get one!
@@HopperJuan Thanks Juan... I'm not looking for excuses to buy more feathers but I might look for more feathers! Appreciate the follow-up! All the best!
Don't you also have a pseudo-baetis? That might be interesting to watch. I like 'em all so far; Slim shady, master baetis, this one here, sniper baetis.
The up eye is my preference of hook for this pattern. The sizes and the sturdiness of the hook is what I like. You could substitute the 2488 also and be just fine.
@@HopperJuan Thanks for the replay! I’ve been wondering about the sturdy aspect of these smaller sizes and have bought some 2488H’s. They seem to working quite well lately. I’ll look into these hooks as well. Tight lines!
Juan, can you clarify the CDL hen fibers you use for the tail? I have some india hen and some CDL tailing fibers but....no CDL hen saddle. Per usual, wondering about improvisation but, I like those solid looking but fuzzy tail fiber you use here.
I’ll use whatever I have around. I am using the hen CDL because I really like it. I also use India hen as long as it’s not to soft or too short. So you can use whatever you like as long as it doesn’t tear off while fishing it. Try out some of the CDL tailing fibers too.
Hey. No reason really other than I like the hook, a Daiichi 1140. It’s stout and reliable. Something I need while fishing these daily. My other choice is the TMC 2488 hook. Great question!!
Question on the resin. I've never used the one you have in the video. I've got solerez bone dry. And loon thin, flow, and thick. Any idea which of those would suit this best?
The Loon thin and the Solerez Bone dry would be the best option as they are very similar in viscosity. The flow is thinner and may drip off and the thick is too heavy for what you want to achieve.
Another short simple and sweet tie thanks!
Glad you like it! Thanks for watching!
Thanks Hopper Juan for another great video!! You do a great job, keep em coming!
Right now, this is my favorite tie. Thank you for sharing.
That’s awesome to hear!!!!
Great looking pattern, I'll have to tie some up
Great little pattern.
Thank you!!
The best in the business... guess who's back...back again...
JHopp in the heeeeezy...💪👍

EXCELLENT, THANKS !!!!
Great tie! Could this be tied on a TMC 2488 or is there a reason for the up eye? Thanks!

I love this fly. I will tie some up soon. Before I do, could you tell me why you choose an up-eye hook?
