I hope Helen’s career gets its due. I think she has such talent and a delightful presence. Hadn’t heard of her prior to Call the Midwife and I am now a huge fan.
Wonderful they have kept the flapper Chicagoesque showdance style in this Charleston. The Marilyn Monroe look really suits Helen, and it's really a joy to see her giving it all in this dance, and yet still managed to keep to the techniques required for the Charleston. Unfortunately when Helen was going up the steps, she nearly stumbled and after that she momentarily lost her bearing, but she recovered and carried on. It could easily be a ten without those mistakes. But mistake being quite obvious I think she'll lose AT LEAST one point off ten from the judges. So I would say an eight or a nine dance, alas...
Her scores were 8 9 8 9. My favourite thing about Helen is that she always gets into character so dances like this really suit her. Shame about the mistake!
Estella Hunter I normally feel happy when I am right about the scores, but I am sad to be proven to be right this time, because it might mean she's in the dance off with that score. Hopefully she is not with another shock bottom two like Kellie or **gasp** Jay (in other words, not Jamelia and not Peter)...
+Scd Observer Oh no, really hope she's not in the dance-off. It's getting to that stage where all the dancers are good and it'll be a shame to see anyone leave.
+Scd Observer Unfortunately, those weren't just slight mistakes. I also noticed that she lost the timing once before she even climbed the steps, and she seemed to lose steam from that point on -- i noticed that her Charleston kicks weren't anywhere nearly as high as Aljaz's -- he seemed to be outdancing her a lot towards the end of the routine.
I'm not sure if many of you have noticed this, but future Strictly champion pro Katya Jones is in this! She's the third back-up dancer from left to right. It's easiest to spot her in the 1:24 mark, where she's right next to Aljaz.
+GrandiaKnight I thought she looked a little wobbly from the lift onwards. At the time I wondered if she had hurt herself or something. Could have just been a little dizziness combined with running out of energy, but everything before the lift looked much sharper and more precise.
+Jam Dev I can't say I see that. There were two or three lifts. First lift in and out of it she's stunning. Second was a difficult dizzy lift, and she still looked alright. The third lift was a little wobbly but it was the end.
Aww, it was all going well until the end! The lift at 0:48 looked a bit messy but still amazing. It was when the y did the quickstep like hold that things started going wrong. She was out of sync with Aljaz and then in the group Helen went the wrong way at the beginning. But still a very accomplished performance! Also, i don't think that it was "lacking quirk" as Craig put it i think, it was quirky with its 1920s feel and the atmosphere was just right for a charleston (in my opinion anyway)
I liked it! I'm just glad she pretty much bounced back after that awkward Tango last week. And REALLY glad she didn't look like a 50 year old woman this time. She seemed to have fun and that's what counts! She and Aljaz seem like they have so much fun when they dance!
I liked it the song is perfect for the style (I listened to it on fallout) but the singers/ band got it wrong a little bit but it must be tiring for them
First lift where she did the splits in the air looked pretty messy and kinda ugly line really. The "dismount" wasn't pretty either. She was out of sync starting with the quickstep section and then she looked really tired and struggled to run up the stairs. By then she was spent I think. Out of time again at the top of the stairs. Such a shame, it was going so well!!

Me too! 💙
Me too
She is incredibly talented! We need to see her on way more stuff!
+The Driftwoodlover that's the good thing about strictly. My favourite was John Whaite last year and we hadn't heard of him before strictly
Did not know Helen was a dancer! She is fabulous!

Looked like she was seriously running low on energy by the end which is a shame because Helen started out so strong. Still a fantastic dance though!
+GrandiaKnight She was spooked when she nearly stumbled towards the end, that's why.

I knew the minute I watched her hands move she was a dancer...talented woman and beautiful to boot.❤

Helen reminds me of the late, great Vera Ellen.....
I know you wrote this comment a year ago but I totally agree. And it's a huge huge compliment to Helen but I think she really does merit it.
She is so adorable and beautiful

+jonaloin Yeah, I think that was another problem -- she just ran out of gas toward the end.
+jonaloin yeah lifts can be kind of messy...almost wish they'd leave them out...
@@Diathero I agree, what a strange comment.
Talented Helen
HELLO FROM LOS ANGELES, California!! (2022). I just DO NOT GET TIRED OF WATCHING HELEN GEORGE DANCING OR SINGING!
Alabama here... I love her!!!!
There was 27 Helens there😀
The real Charleston
What scores do they get
34 (8,9,8,9)
her legs went at the end it's a shame cuz it wasn't a bad performance in general

Hey Helen Watts 👋🏻 from Morley
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Too*
It was to complacent
So...this is literally the British version of Dancing With the Stars? I mean the dance floor and even the stage is like an exact replica.
Strictly came first though
DWTS is a copy of Strictly, not the other way round!
That was so much fun!
What incredible talent Helen has! So much energy, so beautiful, just super amazing.
7 strong Charleston
Wow! Very nice ! 💙💙💙
asking out of curiosity
how much do these professional dancers earn monthly?
I think one of the ex pros said they got about 30k for a season, not sure if that includes the tour too
in the american version the pros earn I believe 100k per season, perhaps its similar here?
I meant 100k per year! 50k per season
not much its rtess and claud and the judges who get the bib bucks
The BBC have shut down Dave Thorp's Strictly Spoiler FB page. Please sign the change.org petition.
Just go to the digital spy website... It's there...
+Liofa Thanks but the point is I think this is obnoxious behaviour on the part of the BBC and that it should be stopped.
At 0:27 wtf was that move? Bleah!
She forgot half the routine... Overmarked.
Lol tf no she didnt?
Loved that they used the Indiana Jones version of the song
THAT LIFT WAS UGLY
She is so perfect. I just... I can't.
That dress is so awful on her, she looks all squashed up and sort of Quasimodo-y lol 😖
