Nice rainy day project. I'm stateside and I have muddy sneakers to deal with regularly after walking trails with my beagle.

It appears dirty boots from dog walking affects us all! If I made it again I'd finish it with a poly or varnish though, Danish Oil made it look nice but it doesn't clean mud off as easily.

Nifty idea, thanks for presenting. I will be making one soon, winter is here.
I'm sad; my entire hillside is covered in dead Ash trees, killed by a bug called the Emerald Ash Borer. (Eastern United States.) We probably have 20 tons of dead trees still standing, shedding rotted branches. And they fall over at every major windstorm. I wish I had the energy to run a chainsaw sawmill - usually the top third of the tree is rotten, but there's solid wood in the bottom of the trunk.

Thanks so much for the comment, and good luck with the build! Sorry to hear you have a bug that's killing the Ash. Here in England we're suffering from Ash Dieback Disease which is sadly having a similar effect! Such a beautiful wood species being decimated is an awful shame.

I definitely need one of these to get my Dubarry’s off!! That’s currently a two person job!

You should give one a go, they’re surprisingly easy to build!

What a great project. You are spot on, this is perfect for a beginner. And I have to say that Ash may be my favourite light wood. Lovely grain. Great to see the router plane in action too.

Thank you, I have to agree, Ash is a gorgeous wood! So strong too, I really like working with it!

Start Making (Woodworking) send me your way (I think it's called, I'm from Denmark!)
He listed this channel together with 19 other channels (not including his own. Humble man!) as THE 20 best woodworking channels!!
I like to start from the bottom, and there you were, but I'm very sure, it was only because he could not mention all the channels at once, or at least, it would be a mess, and in woodworking, I like to start from the bottom, and the No 1 channel was this/you.
Yes, I've subscribed, watched this first video, and I can say for sure: and I'll be back!!
(I have to go now, as I have two dogs in my neighbor's house waiting for me to feed and entertain them until their servants return from their jobs!)
I wish 2024 may be a great year for this channel and all of you, and it may be the year where we just turn off The News from around the world, and instead of watching people destroying each other, etc. we'll choose to put on our boots and go out to our sheds/shops, watch some woodworking videos while drinking a cupper, and get some inspiration to MAKE something! And Go to town! (a new expression I just learned a few weeks ago)
Aka: Start MAKING things. And mistakes, and lots of them, as those are supposed to be those we learn the most from!
As a newbie woodworker, age 61 ( and have 6 cats, horrible humor, and yes, I am single!) and I enjoy watching videos with projects I might be able to kinda replica within a year or so, and not after my 90th birthday!
❤ Love and support /Pia from the DK

Thanks very much for the lovely comment and for subscribing!
I agree, let’s hope the news is dominated by peaceful hobbies and horror and suffering.
Good luck with your woodworking! If I’ve learnt anything - it’s we are all still beginners at heart! There’s always something new to learn!
