- Jehovah/Yahweh is God's personal name. And it is His most often used name in the Bible.
It is the name by which He explains Himself to us. "This", God said, "is My name forever and this is how I am to be remembered in every generation." (Exodus 3 verse 15)
Moses was a 40-year fugitive on the run from the most powerful man on the planet. He was hiding out in the hills surrounding mount Horeb, shepherding sheep, when He saw something that made no sense.
A burning bush that wasn't being consumed.
It was time. God heard the cries of the Israelites. The oppression under Egyptian taskmasters had elevated.
Under Egypt's protection, the Israelites had grown in number to the nation God had promised Abraham. A people through whom the whole world would know that Elohim is the one, true all-powerful God.
Moses did not want to go back to Egypt. He had been there, lived large, grew up with the Pharaoh, but defended the Israelites and was wanted for murder …it was an impossible situation. So impossible that with his shoes off, kneeling before a voice booming, burning bush, …Moses still resisted.
In the end, Moses said, OK, if I went, who would I say sent me? What would I tell the Israelites?
In Exodus 3 verse 14: God (Elohim) said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM"; and He said, "Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel. I AM has sent me to you."
What kind of Name is that?
It is translated Yahweh and Jehovah and it's the greatest Name of all! One that is used nearly 7,000 times in the Bible.
So, that is why we included Jehovah as one of the names we are studying in this Name of God men's group Bible study.

YAHUAH is our father without a doubt in my mind ,I have researched this as far and deep as one could and it's YAHUAH ,he that is self existant,HalleluYAH ,amein.
The apostle Peter gave this testimony: “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). However, we have many names for Christ: Jesus, Iesus, Iesous, Yeshua, Isa, and not to mention the pronunciation “Hey-zeus.” So is the name based on God’s revelation or on the linguistics of mankind? So which one is the revealed name from Heaven? Halleluyah is universally known throughout the world, and yet few seem to know what it actually means. Hallelu, means Praise, and YAH is the name which is above every name.
Halleluyah means “Praise YAH.” YAH means “I AM” in Hebrew. YAH is found in Strong’s Dictionary of Bible Words # 3050. Where did the name YAH come from? Moses asked God for His name: “Then Moses said to God, “Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?” And God said to Moses, (“HAYAH ASHAR HAYAH) “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM {YAH} has sent me to you.’ Moreover God said to Moses, ‘Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations’” (Exodus 3:13-15).
According to the prophets “YAH” is the only name of salvation for us: Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; ‘For Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation” (Isaiah 12:2 NKJV), and Sing to God, sing praises to His name; Extol Him who rides on the clouds, By His name Yah, and rejoice before Him” (Psalm 68:4 NKJV). “I, even I, am the Lord, And besides Me there is no savior” (Isaiah 43:11). Christ tells us that He is YAH, when He said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM {YAH}” (John 8:58).
Christ is I AM, that is YAH. Therefore the angel came to Joseph and said, “And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name YAHSHUA, for He will save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21). Joseph was given a command to name Him YAHSHUA! The apostle Paul on the road to Damascus, to persecute Christians, was confronted by a bright light, and the Savior told him, “I am YAHSHUA...” (Acts 26:13-15).
The apostle Paul heard the name which is above every name, for he writes, “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of YAHSHUA every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that YAHSHUA the Messiah is LORD, to the glory of God the Father.
What happens if I reject this one name given under heaven by which we must be saved? “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:16-18). The name Jesus has only existed in its present form since the 17th century. Reject the revealed name YAHSHUA, the one name by which we must be saved, and stand before the judgment throne condemned. In YAHSHUA’S Name, Amen. P.S. Trust the actual revelation of God and not the linguistics of mankind.

I love what he said, that it is possible to know God and not know Jehovah. So when we learn God's name we can know who and what he is and develop a closer relationship with him.Jehovah wants us to know his name and he wants us to talk to him and get to know who he is.

@@OneThingforMen I am sorry but after much research myself. I am now aware of the NWT made and translated by the governing body of elders. Also it’s interlinear translation. For one the two don’t match. Example: Colossians 1:16-17-18. And many more, but only if you are willing to test the scriptures? As for the name Jehovah. The was invented by a Jesuit Catholic monk in the 15 hundreds, so more then 100 years. And after that it is also recognized by the Mormons, and the Masons. @@tortugaclan The Name YeHôWaH (JeHoVaH) came from putting the Vowel Points of Adonai (ADoNaY) and putting them in the YHWH making YeHoWaH which eventually became JeHoVaH. This originally came from the Alepo Codex dated to the Tenth Century. The Vowels for YHWH are also spelled as YeHoWiH and YeHWaH in the Alepo Codex. YHWH or YaHWèH is has Founding in the First Few Centuries AD and even in the Septuagint as YaHÖ ΪΑΏ.

Jehovah...It is widely used. It is considered by many to be hallowed, and it is also endeared by many a beautiful hymn, however, this name was never revealed by God. The name of “Jehovah” is a concoction of man. Therefore, it is a “mongrel,” a “hybrid;” and it is “fantastic” and “monstrous.” There is something very wrong with this euphonious name. The facts have only to be known to justify this verdict.
What are the facts?
Ever since the Babylonian invasion of Judea and the enforced diaspora of its people in 605 B.C., the Jews’ have a strong penchant for hiding the name of God from the Gentiles, and thus preventing the profaning of God’s revealed name. Later, the Catholic Church in the Middle Ages were known to raid Jewish synagogues, take the gold, and the Hebrew Scriptures [the Old Testament], and persecute Jews. The name and pronunciation of “Jehovah,” (and also the name Jesus) was unknown until 1520 A.D., when introduced and propagated by Peter Galatinus, Confessor to Pope Leo X, who noted in the stolen Hebrew Scriptures that there were Hebrew vowels placed onto the four consonants letters of God’s true name, YHWH [pronounced: Yod-Hey-Waw-Hey]. Peter Galatinus (1450-1540) did not know of the Jewish practice of placing vowels from another word, (accordingly one of the following words: Adonai {YaHoWaH}, Eloah {YeHoWaH}, Elohim {YeHoWiH}), and specifically Eloah, which created the name Jehovah. Jehovah is merely a combination of the Tetragrammaton (the four consonants: YHWH) and the vowels from another Hebrew word for God (namely: Eloah) arbitrarily placed onto the Tetragrammaton to remind the Jewish reader not to attempt to say the name of God, but to say, “Adonay,” instead.
It should be noted that words in the Hebrew Scriptures contain consonants only, no vowels, so when the Jewish reader would come upon YHWH, God’s name, he would inadvertently attempt to pronounce the name. Therefore vowels were added to remind the reader to say, “Adonay” instead of “the name” (HaShem). Noted Bible scholar J. B. Rotherham, stated, “To give… YHWH (Latin: IHVH {Iehovah} later JHVH {Jehovah} due to the later addition of the letter J in the seventeenth century) the vowels of the word (Eloah) to remind the Jewish reader to say, “Adonay,” and later to pronounce it “Jehovah,’ is about as hybrid a combination as it would be to spell the name of Germany with the vowels of Portugal-viz., Gormuna” (the Emphasized Bible, J. B. Rotherham, 1994, Kregel Publication, Pp. 24-25). Jehovah in its present form has only existed since the seventeenth century. Fact: God’s essential name is YAH, and Bible scholars acknowledge YAHWEH (for YAH, see Strong’s #3050), as in “Praise YAH,” in Hebrew: “Halleluyah.” YAH is the name above every name (Philippians 2:9). YAH is from the root word of HAYAH (I AM). The Savior identified Himself as the I AM (John 8:58). Je-hovah, “hovah” in Hebrew means “RUIN and MISCHIEF,” and “Calamity” (see Strong’s Dictionary of Bible Words #1943). “Jehovah” is a monstrous name that means “Ruin and Mischief.” Besides the vowels of Eloah, the Jews also at times used the vowels of Elohim, producing the false name: “Yehovih” (see Strong’s Dictionary of Bible Words, #3069), which was done to remind the Jewish reader in the synagogues to say, “Adonay” instead of speaking the name of God.
The Jewish Encyclopedia, states, “This name is commonly represented in modern translations by the form Jehovah, which, however, is a philological impossibility” (p. 160). The Jehovah’s Witnesses admittedly make a similar reference that the name Jehovah is inferior (in their Book: Let Your Name be Sanctified (p. 16). The name Jehovah is not the name of God! Consequently, the name Jesus is not Christ’s name either. The name of God is so important and lost, that the LORD must restore it. The LORD said, “For then I will restore to the peoples a pure language, that they all may call on the name of the LORD” (Zephaniah 3:9). To those who reject the true revealed name of given to our Savior {YAHSHUA}, there is this warning: “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:16). To use a false name not revealed by God as God’s name is tantamount to idolatry.

Jehovah or Yehovah comes from the verb to be as we see God called himself I AM in Exodus 3. It is a combination of three Hebrew verb forms meaning he was, he is, he is to come, just like it says in Revelation. Jehovah is the eternally existing one with no beginning and no end. Praise the Lord!

Nowhere in scriptures does it say Jesus was created, His deity is given numerous times unless you have a NWT Bible that literally changes the scripture to degrade Christ in order to keep their Doctrine. Christ is the Alpha and Omega, The first and the last. God is the Alpha and Omega,, the first and last. Unless you think we have two God's, they are one and the same. Firstborn doesn't mean what it appears in modern days. In those days firstborn refers to Rank. If Jesus was first created, why didn't scriptures say First created? It refers to Rank, meaning he is first in rank which can Only be God.

You literally said that man had to add letters to make YAHWEH out of YHWH and the same goes with Jehovah, YHWH had vowels added from Adonai which means My Lord. YHWH does translate to Hayah which means I Am. From what I see, God never gave his name, He gave titles. If you know something I don't, please inform me. I've checked interlinear Translations to find actual scriptures and their translations and I can't find anywhere that God gave his name except when he became human to save us.
The exact pronunciation of the divine name in ancient Hebrew is not known. However, the form “Jehovah” has a long history in the English language and is the most common form in English.
The first century Christians who spoke Hebrew would have pronounced the name of Joshua as Yehoh·shua. We today, who speak English follow the sensible course of using the form of proper name (Joshua) in our own language. We do not say “Yehoh·shua”! Similarly if we are not speaking hebrew we would not say “Yahweh” or Yehowah”, etc.
There are many lords and gods but there is only one true God, the father of Jesus Christ - John 17:3 NIV and his name is JEHOVAH.
The Calculations of YeHoVaH
God’s Divine Name written in Hebrew as YHVH ( Yod Heh Vav Heh).
YeHoVaH (English Jehovah) is 7 letters long.
Based on a=1, b=2, c=3 etc. the 3 vowels added to YHVH, e, o & a calculate to 5+15+1=21
21=7x3 or 7+7+7.
YHVH =25+8+22+8 which calculates to 63.
63 =21x3 or (7+7+7)x3 or 7x3x3 or 7+7+7 + 7+7+7 + 7+7+7
YeHoVaH=25+5+8+15+22+1+8 which calculates to 84.
84=21x4 or (7+7+7)x4 or 7x12 or 7+7+7 + 7+7+7 + 7+7+7+ 7+7+7
Note that the vowels e, o and a are the first letters of Eternal, Omega and Alpha.
The Calculations of Yahweh
God’s Divine Name in Hebrew is changed from YHVH to YHWH ( Yod Heh Waw Heh).
Note the 3 changes of 6 they needed to create Yahweh from YHVH.
1. Change God’s name to 6 letters long.
2. The 6th Hebrew letter is changed from V to W
3. The 2 vowels a & e calculate to 1+5=6

WEH was added to God’s Name YAH.
The 6th Hebrew letter is changed from V to W
WEH=23+5+8 which calculates to 36=6x6
6 6 6
YHWH =25+8+23+8 which calculates to 64.
64=2x32 or 4x16 or 4x4x4 or 8x8
Yahweh=25+1+8+23+5+8 which calculates to 70.
70=2x35, 5x14, 7x10
Note that 70 = 7 heads x 10 horns (Rev 13:1 The Beast with the blasphemous name)
Note that Yahweh does not include the letter o for Omega.
The Jerusalem Bible introduced Yahweh in 1966 and since then, most Bibles replaced Jehovah with Yahweh.

I’m not going to argue about the different names of God. BUT ONE NAME NO ONE MENTIONS. At Jeremiah 25:29 “ the city that bears my name”. At Daniel 9:18 “ the city that bears your name”. Question, what city is that?
His name or personal name is only Jehovah. Elohim and Adonai was just titles and not personal name. Elohim means God and Adonai means Lord. In order to have everlasting life your knowledge about Him must be accurate, like what the Apostle Paul said.
I always thought Elohiym translated to "of the supreme God". Not the LORD, the self-Existent or eternal Jehovah. Definitely two separate God's. That's what I was taught. And I'm sticking to it.

However, we have many names for Christ: Jesus, Iesus, Iesous, Yeshua, Isa, and not to mention the pronunciation “Hey-zeus.” So is the name based on God’s revelation or on the linguistics of mankind? So which one is the revealed name from Heaven? Halleluyah is universally known throughout the world, and yet few seem to know what it actually means. Hallelu, means Praise, and YAH is the name which is above every name.
Halleluyah means “Praise YAH.” YAH means “I AM” in Hebrew. YAH is found in Strong’s Dictionary of Bible Words # 3050. Where did the name YAH come from? Joseph was given a command to name Him YAHSHUA! The apostle Paul heard the name which is above every name, for he writes, “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of YAHSHUA every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that YAHSHUA the Messiah is LORD, to the glory of God the Father.
What happens if I reject this one name given under heaven by which we must be saved? “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:16-18). The name Jesus has only existed in its present form since the 17th century. Reject the revealed name YAHSHUA, the one name by which we must be saved, and stand before the judgment throne condemned. In YAHSHUA’S Name, Amen. Trust the actual revelation of God and not the linguistics of mankind.

John 6:38:
"...for I came down from heaven to do, not my will, but the will of him who sent me..."
Now we really see that there is confusion between God the Father and God the Son in these false Protestant Bibles which have been deliberately and expressly manipulated and falsified to hide the name of the God the Father "Yahweh", it is THE TRUTH.
Faced with these hypocrisies, is it normal that all the scriptures are no longer inspired by God, but by all these antichrists who are liars who will all be condemned at the Tribunal of Christ with all these lies? Jesus sanctified his true name and made it know to people. It’s only tradition to not use it, but GOD himself wants us to know him; not titles, but his actual name. YHWH even said that there were men who would him his name from man…….

The covenant name given to Israel, YHVH or YHWH, came on Mount Sinai through Moses, along with the 10 commandments, and all of the Law.

Yahweh (NOT Jehovah - that there's no "J" in Hebrew should be enough to tell you that) only has ONE Name not many names but He does have many titles associated with that Name. Also why would you refer to Yahweh with a generic word such as 'God', a word associated with many vile things - a sporting god, the weather gods, an acting god, a model god and many more examples. There was even a sniper shot that killed a man called "The God Shot", such terminology should NOT be associated with Yahweh, especially when it is not hard to establish the true Name and Title being referred to in Scripture.

With all due respect, Jehovah is not a name of God. We get this made up name by taking the tetragrammaton YHWH found in the Hebrew bible and placing the vowels for the Hebrew word adonai after each consonant. Then we transliterate it into German and anglicize the new German word. German doesn't pronounce the J or V like us. They pronounce these two consonants more like a Hebrew would with a Y and W sound. If you want the best guess for the personal name of God it is Yahweh, not the made up word Jehovah.

Jehova is not one of God’s names. It is a mispronunciation of YHWH or Yahweh, as people pronounced the transliteration as “Yahova” and subsequently turned it into “Jehova.”

When I went back to look into paleo Hebrew which is the original language their alphabet chart does consist of e,i,j,o,v,w in their alphabets chart.
