Hey this is the first review of any m16 variant I've seen that actually shows the knife, in hand, in good lighting and focus. Seems simple but so many reviewers do those shitty photo shoot angles where you can't even get a good feel for the knife. Thanks for making this video!
Mine is M16-14LE. Looks almost the same, but with liner lock and an extra manual lock button on the back. Really like the solid feel. When you hold it, you know it can take a lot of beating, no sweat. It's in my rotation with my other foldings.
@@TerriblyTactical Absolutely! Just because a person doesn't have a lot of coin to spend.Doesent mean they don't have a right to defend themselves and their families. I like review's for working men. There is a lot of snobbery in the gun world.
I didn't know these were so iconic and carried by soldiers a lot. I might pick one up, I don't have a frame lock and it looks very cool. Thanks for the video brother, keep up the good work 👍
Nice review! Concise and well shot. I just got a M16-04z and I love it. Now I want to check out these frame lock versions. The handle looks a bit thinner than the Z but that frame lock looks solid.
Wish I could of bought this, but it's illegal in CA to carry a pocket knife which the blade in more than 2". Do they have the exact style but 2" blade?
I got this knife but mine is smaller and has the non powder coat blade. It felt dull when I got it out the box. I was going to sharpen it but I tested it out by shaving my arm. It shaved a clean patch of arm hairs like nothing. Since then, I've cut myself 3 times playing with it. I didn't know I was cut all 3 times. I just had Dominoes pizza and they didn't cut my pizza into slices all the way so I used my knife. I cut the pizza and clean thru the pizza box. I give the knife 5 stars. Strong locking mechanism and super sharp blade. Solid construction. I'm no knife expert but I like to keep a nice pocket knife clipped in my 5th pocket and thats one reason I got the smaller version. I also got it less than half price. It was $30-40 on eBay but I bid on one that was up for auction and got it for like $16. First time I ever bid on an item. Now I might buy that CRKT Off Lander I think it's called. It has a unique lock I never seen before and it's all metal. No powder coat.
These coated 8cr blades will never corrode if nothing else. The 12c27 variant will hold an edge a little longer though. I prefer knowing I’m not going to worry about rust more than anything though.
@@TerriblyTactical I have all types of Kizer and Civivi blades and always end up back with my 3” M16-02SS. I love those things.. I’d pay $100 for one in a tough steel that doesn’t corrode though for sure. Just to have one. Keep an eye out on CRKTs new higher end knives that Hogue is OEM’ing for them.. all have been awesome but flew under the radar a bit cause all $200+
Looking at a couple of previous liner fails, you can clearly see why the liners fail. Fit plays a huge role in stability and strength. That framelock is many times stronger than the liners regardless of steel material because not only were the liners thin but they really don't have any more structural suport than the framelocks which are simply more beefy.

Glad I could help! Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave that awesome comment!
I have carried one in the Marines for many years. Great knife and they take beating and make the best boot knife ever.
Lot of guys like em!

They're definitely a classic!
Look's like a fairly competent blade for the price point. Good review! Not everyone has a ton of money to spend.
Yeah and I think everyone should be prepared at any price point!

Thabks for watching!
It's a Sandvik Steel, It's a good EDC Steel for sure. Better than 8CR13MOV for sure
Good to know!
I have the 04SS. Are there any other differences other than the color?
Not that I can do

Yeah the lock is definitely an improvement! Thanks for watching!

Unfortunately I don't think so
California doesn't have a statewide blade length limit

Yeah they're a pretty consistently solid brand across the board!
mine was quite stiff saids fast deployment mine barely deploys
Just work it in a lil bit, should loosen up for ya

@@Errcyco very interested I'm the hk Knives by hogue
I am liking all the extra editing
Thanks bruhhh
The knife comes with a Nickel warning. How much nickel is in this knife?
Lolol who knows but that's a good question haha.
Since they've gone with Sandvik, I wish they went all the way and used 14C28N. 12C27 is good but we all know 14C is better.
Indubitably
Just purchased one how do you close the blade 🤦🏻♂️
Watch the video again and you'll see me do it. You push the frame lock over to the left so it clears the tange of the blade.
Thanks I figured it out from another video. Too fast for my comprehension
@@jameslogan6127 haha sorry man
Why doesn't mine open as easy I messed around with the screw and did nothing fails the opening all the time
Maybe you got a bad one because I've had 0 issues with mine.
@@TerriblyTactical weird I messed around some more still doesn't open super super easy busy easy enough
@@daltonmarchand2755 just quality control probably. Mess around with the pivot a lil bit.
Yeah been working on it
How does this compare to the 03? Is it "too big" to carry?
Do you think a 8"25 M16-03 qualifies as a good enough self defense blade?
It's definitely not too big to carry!
@@TerriblyTactical thanks brother! Would you consider the 03 (spear point) a good choice for EDC/self defense tho? I'm TERRIBLY in doubt hahahah
I love this knife I took the original on multiple deployment works great.
A lot of guys do! That's awesome!
Thanks for the info!
Thanks for watching!
Which M16 model is this?
Idk the specific model number but it's a newer model in the tanto blade
M16-04KS
21 seconds into the video and he says which model it is.. if you were paying attention
A nice size knife as good share....Good stuff....
Thanks brother!
No safety? Shit, my other 2 m16's have it. Might have to send this back.
Safety shhmaftey I always say
I think the only crkt I can do is the hissatsu, I just don't really like crkt
Yeah not a ton of their designs speak to me either but the m16 is a classic
Also pretty annoying they just keep moving more and more shit to china. Before at least they were made in taiwan
Yeah but such is the way of the world with most companies unfortunately
Who cares... Reate and WE make better knives than 90% of production makers out there.
@@ryanhawkins3387 Exactly - China makes the best knives, unless you spend $500.
Awesome video though man
Much appreciated

Nice vid. If you'd like to sell your m16 I would purchase it.
Thanks for watching but I think I'm gunna hold on to it!
$50….? This knife is $140.00 man 🤷♂️
It was 50
You can get it on eBay for 50$ I just bought one
12c27n and a framelock is not really stronger than that liner. 😉
I'm pretty sure a much beefier frame lock is stronger in most cases but I've been wrong before...not often...but it happens lolol
