    can you explain how the IEC got the relationship between alpha angles and? and why they divided them into classes sir?

    Good morning Sir. Do you have a lecture on internal lightning protection systems?

    Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I would be great if you could do a video on DC Traction protection systems.

    HOW DO YOU DESIGN THE SIZE (CROSS SECTION) OF DOWN CONDUCTOR?

    • @railwayengineeringinsights6463
      @railwayengineeringinsights6463  ปีที่แล้ว

      For this we need to refer to iec 62305-3 table 6 or table 2 of iec 62561-2

    You should state that this maths is based on assumptions. It is a risk calculation and not an actual one. This is a theory which has zero scientific proof that is actually factual. The striking distance is an assumption based on distance and not charge density - which is where this assumption fails. Charge density location is unpredictable.

      Thanks for your comment. You are correct, and even the standard states it clearly. However, the intention of this video was to help someone design the LPS if required based on risk assessment conducted as per IEC 62305-2 or other equivalent standards. Maybe in another video where I will try to explain about lightning strikes, I will mention what you said.

      Sorry I might not be able to make videos in upcoming months. But you can refer to table I attached in this video at time stamp 18:16. Based on class of level selected as per risk assessment (iec 62305-2) you can choose either 5x5, 10x10, etc. As per that table
