I went out to manhattan to meet up with some old friends over the summer, and they just keep a tab open and pay it, and if you ordered anything whoever payed for it or whoevers friend you are (I met old high school friends who have since forged a new friend group in the city) will contact you to venmo whatever your food costs. Perfect system, as long as you trust the people youre in it with. Thankfully I stopped congregating with scumbags a few years ago.
Also, for the friend who said waiters hate splitting the bill…as someone who’s been a waiter, it’s NOT a big deal. The only issue is if you wait until the end of the meal to say so. That’s what makes you an a-hole, but honestly, any waiter who knows what they’re doing asks in advance who is with who. I dont fall for that , I just say no thanks and move on with my day. I was on the other side of that transaction at one point in my life and it was extremely uncomfortable to ask people to donate money on top of what theyre already paying for.

Also the solution for chocolate chip cookies is mini dark chocolate chips. Then they're great. It makes the chocolate to batter ratio correct. I feel strongly enough about this to make maybe my 5th TH-cam comment in a decade.
Proper high quality semi-sweet chocolate chips are great in some baked goods. However, american chocolate in itself is not very good and baking with milk chocolate is just pandering to an over-sweetened palette.
If she had led with brownies, I would have agreed. Fudgy brownies should be homogenous in texture. No one wants your soggy yet stale walnuts or chocolate chips in those. I'll have to disagree about the chocolate chip cookies though, especially ecause my favorite way to eat them is right out of the freezer where they get softer and warm up as you chew them. There is kind of a horn language, at least where I live. Two short taps is 'hello,' and/or 'I have arrived and am idling outside your domicile.' One short blast is 'wake up, the light is green.' Laying on the horn conveys road rage with the usual epithets and finger language; the length of the sound indicates how stupid one thinks the blastee is.
as someone with adhd and anxiety and also not really big on honking ... is it possible you zoned out and honking was the only thing that was gonna bring you back(besides time)? I havent driven for about 5 years but when I did, I only broke the horn out in extreme situations, like guy stopped for more than 5 seconds at a green light, someone making a turn into traffic, you know, things that the horn is the only option for. Light taps only, theres nothing more obnoxious than a long honker. Maybe it's because I don't drive regularly but whenever I get in the car with other people, they love to complain to me about other drivers. I've developed sort of a laid back, go with the flow type attitude towards these minor inconveniences, but people just love to rage while driving.

I think you can combine the rant about tipping your food delivery people (and all service people) with the rant about getting pressured for donations from CVS into one specific point: people need to demand more from corporations and governments that take billions of their collective monies and stop subsidizing exploitation and underserved populations The very existence of charities and tipping is the problem. Pay service industry/gig workers a living wage, and do more for the country and planet that allows you generate billions of dollars instead of hitting up consumers for more

Like I flipped my 15 speed bicycle and fractured my upper right arm. 14 weeks to recover. The health care OMFG. The orthopedic specialist couldnt see me for 5 days while I suffered in serious pain! OMG, chocolate chip hater Halle could just learn to microwave her baked goods with chocolate chips in them for, like, 20 seconds because they melt, and then they won't be hard anymore. I don't even understand how she didn't make an exception for the ones that are freshly baked and still warm, because, again, those chocolate chips are obviously not hard.

I think you can combine the rant about tipping your food delivery people (and all service people) with the rant about getting pressured for donations from CVS into one specific point: people need to demand more from corporations and governments that take billions of their collective monies and stop subsidizing exploitation and underserved populations
The very existence of charities and tipping is the problem. Pay service industry/gig workers a living wage, and do more for the country and planet that allows you generate billions of dollars instead of hitting up consumers for more

OH NO! Don't do it! Don't move to NC! I did it! I'm still here almost 4 years later! They won't let me leave! I don't know how they do it but every time I try something bad happens. Like I flipped my 15 speed bicycle and fractured my upper right arm. 14 weeks to recover. The health care OMFG. The orthopedic specialist couldnt see me for 5 days while I suffered in serious pain! The closest ABC store is 5 miles away! You can't get weed, period! Just don't do it. Unless you have someone on the outside who specializes in human trafficking.
