  • In the audience hall adjacent to the Throne, state receptions were held, and during ceremonial dinners, when tables were set in all rooms of the palace, places were reserved here for court cavalry ladies. That is why he received the second name - "stas-ladies".
Unlike the Throne Room, this room retained the authentic Baroque interior created by Rastrelli until 1941. The narrow space was visually expanded by multiple reflections of mirrors on opposite walls, covered with gilded carvings in the form of girlish heads, foliage, shells, fruits and flowers.
The graceful plafond "Liberated Jerusalem", created by the Italian P. Ballaria, was lost, like all the decoration of the hall. However, the huge restoration work carried out by the artists L. Lyubimov and V. Nikiforov in the post-war years allows today to admire the exquisite interiors of the Audience Hall.
