There's a moment in the movie where Yayoi says something like "I've been watching this world for a long time, as a gatekeeper between these worlds... If I were to say that, would you believe me?". She plays this as a joke, but there might be some truth to it. She also comments on how Kyoukai no Kanata will probably come back eventually, but that humanity will still be able to survive. There's also the fact that she was friends with Mirai's mother, which is probably not a coincidence either. I don't know what to make out of this.

I don't understand why they made Ayaka a dreamshade/youmu in the anime instead of a normal human from the light novels. So is it canon that dreamshades could also become spirit hunters?
