    It's virtually the Esprit. I can't blame WE/Civivi though, the Esprit is a solid knife.

      I honestly like when mfrs bring designs from premium brands to budget brands, like KAI bringing ZT designs to Kershaw. And honestly, I'd rather have 14C28N and micarta than 20CV and Ti or CF. But the swedge on the Esprit is sweet.

    Seems like a strong chain with some kind of (magnetic? ball detent?) breakaway to prevent strangulation would be perfect for a neck knife.

    I'm loving all of these small fixed blades that are coming out. This looks nice, and is in line with their Minimus. The QSP Canary makes me hopefully for the future of small fixies.

      I’m having a hard time telling this Circulus apart from the Minimus. Both 1.96” cutting blade, same designer, same steel. What’s the difference?
      Just googled and it might only be that the Circulus has a pocket clip on the sheath? I’m going to carry mine clip out around my neck.

  • @jamesgoodlet6554
    @jamesgoodlet6554 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    I think the reason why those ball chains come off easily is so no one can use your chain to choke you. That's what I was told.

    • @kwongyeang
      @kwongyeang ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Its a difficult one. If the chain is strong enough to work with a neck knife and let you yank the knife free, it is also strong enough to choke you. When I worked in hospital, all our name tags and lanyards have a quick-break link that will snap apart if you pull on it. For the last few years, I'm freaked out enough that I wear neck knives on my belt or put them in a pocket. I have also lost a neck knife when it must've gotten caught on a branch or something while outdoors.

    • @Zaque-TV
      @Zaque-TV ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kwongyeang oof yeah and paracord will fuck you up if it were to catch on something. It could hang you. Never thought of that

    • @thetoolwatch
      @thetoolwatch ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s my understanding, as well. There are many variations of neck knife carry in the bushcraft community, and one of the considerations for the cord or chain is: what happens if it gets caught on a branch? It needs to be able to break away.

    • @thetoolwatch
      @thetoolwatch ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I like everything about it... except, I can't have a knife that has 0 finger guard. It doesn't have to be much! A small flipper tab on a perfectly straight knife? Good enough! A slight swell in the blade, on a non flipper? Good enough! Just something to make it stabable! Sorry, fatal flaw. Realistic expectation of use?... No, it's the look more than anything 😄

    Open question. Is anyone a healthcare worker? I live in Missouri and just got accepted into physical therapy school. I’ve started to carry a knife everyday for the past year or so and I find it to be really useful as a tool. I was wondering if it is acceptable to carry a knife and work with patients as a PT. Maybe I would need to have a slip joint or something that presents as less “dangerous”? I haven’t been able to find any content so I figured I’d turn to the community on this one. Also thanks for the content big J, would love your input too

    Hey neeves knives and chat, I just got a sokoke in and it has a noticeable and audible forward and back blade play/clickiness. Is that something that will break in or should I return it? If I push the lock bar further into lock up it goes away. It’s a bit annoying, I had to return a cjrb pyrite recently for the same thing

    I have a pile of CIVIVi’s, and one chore has always been to remove, sand and rit dye the micarta scales, which are fuzzy and streaky looking. Their G10 is great, but they always had cheap looking micarta. Glad to see that changing, thanks!
    By the way, from the Civivi manufacturers description of the Circulus: “The titanium bead chain is also extremely lightweight and robust.” 😉 I think the problem is they made the bead chain out of titanium according to them, instead of steel. I much prefer de stranded paracord for a neck knife, even though that can get you choked, it’s just more comfortable on the back of your neck.

I bought my first about a month ago after 1.5 years off collecting and it's a good knife (Parxis) but it just doesn't excite me much especially with all the other options out there. It's definitely not my most carried knife, but by far my most used. It's what's in my pocket for around the house/gardening/ weekend projects, stuff like that. It's just worry free and if something happens to it, I'll just get another. I was going to get the mini for a buddy as his first pocket knife, but when it came out in d2, I got him something else.

    Cant make change Jarred if you love communist made”knives”. Your helpin the Matrix keep the rich rich. Member the vid you made a Very short time ago. Those endorsements must be nice. Plz, for the love ov Pete, tell me im wrong. You said the knife community is changing. Custom makers, bigbox knifecenter’s n BladeHQ type stores wont last selling D2/14C/g10 scale knives. Here we are again. Correct me J! 🔪🔪✌️

      @Ace hey pal, listen up, ok. Ov course i own foreign made blades. American exdeptionalism is dying cuz cheap Chiner shit has flooded our market, making bigbox blade dealers mega bucks. We’re trying to stop it, 1company ata time!! You dig now?
