    Myself Anuya's father would like protest for misrepresenting history. She said that the book "Hundred years of solitude" which she presented on my 50th birthday ,I did not read it. Which is not right I read the book and I liked it immensely.

    Have been waiting so long for this. Yes Marquez for me too was my first step into magical realism. Earlier this year I read a book called “Beauty is a wound” by an Indonesian author Eka Kurniawan. The plot , the characters everything made me feel so close to what I felt when I First read 100 years of Solitude.

    Nice to see a non cynical, fun side of Manu. His columns can sometimes be so abrasive, heartening to see him talk about stuff he likes and agrees with.

    Could you please do a podcast authorwise, that includes tips for what books to start with for a particular author? For example Wodehouse, O Henry, Shakespeare, Rushdie etc.

    Guys, I think you are trying something new probably but the seating arrangement looks too formal and camera angles are distracting. He is not in the frame so many times. Plus, why were you so nervous around him? :D Lovely discussion as always. Great fan of his work..:)

    FINALLY. I thought you guys had stopped :( More Book Thief fans, yay, I still remember hiding the book while reading it because I was supposed to be studying for my coaching/boards; also trying to cry quietly :p Never watched the movie though, I couldn't see how it could capture the magic of the book.
    Loved the episode!! ((Also, will never consider Sidney Sheldon, Perry Mason, Wodehouse, trash xD)

    The interviewers are so damn distracted and giggly ..... and at times self conscious as well ..... a great man like Manu Joseph tries his best to look interested and not get annoyed. I hit the dislike button.

      "Great man" like Manu Joseph has climbed so high he can't fain interest in conversations of mere mortals? Honestly, the man seemed so full of himself that it amazes me someone so "great" could not find the morsel of humility and intelligence to listen first.

      @@BooksonToast Actually the "giggly" and allegedly "self conscious" behaviour that pinkjasomething talks about helped the interview. It was a nice contrast of two different personality types coming together for an engaging non-serious serious conversation.

    Manu should write book on what he said @24:20 This looks like an interesting subject. how reality of the past becomes magic of today. and how reality of today will become magic of the future.. however at the same time, in present, we believe magic is Something which will happen in future as in terms of technology like hover board, flying cars, space solar electricity generation and various subjects on which we don't have any clarity now, but will be something real in future.

  • @Walklikeaduck111
    @Walklikeaduck111 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    As the discussion went on it became livelier. It was too giggly and strange in the beginning. Also why is anuya looking at sharin all the time and manu isn't looking at her...and its just weird. Is it the camera angles and not knowing where to look? But I liked the books they talked of..mostly favorites. And some good recommends.

  • @Walklikeaduck111

Sharin is awesome ,much respect to her.
