"I just want some sweets" my life! x
My favourite word is 'hiraeth' - it's a feeling of homesickness for a home to which you cannot return to, a home which maybe never was; the nostalgia, the yearning, the grief, for the lost places of your past. It represents missing the things that were once so prevalent in our lives, which I think all of us go through.
And as always, great video Carrie! xxx
Hygge :)
- It's a Danish word which has no direct translation into English but the closest you will get is 'cosy'. Hygge is a lot of things: it's drinking tea under a warm blanket during a snow storm, it's playing board games with your friends and family. It's that happy feeling that warms your heart and when you don't have the words, you can simply say 'hygge' :)
+Maiken Hansen Hello fellow Dane! :)
+Kirstine Otte Jamen hej :D
Maiken Hansen Hyggehejsa :)
that is so beautiful
I have a pug teddy named after this
So happy you referenced the Dinosaur Attraction at Animal Kingdom.
+sorvian25 ONE HUNDRED MILLION COOL POINTS TO YOU KIND PERSON!
+ItsWayPastMyBedTime +sorvian25 OMG!!! This makes my heart so happy!! That was the greatest to hear! I worked at Dinosaur!! I'll be the one in the corner, losing it a bit for the Dinosaur love! 💚💚💚
My favorite word is: Fernweh (german)
Literally it means "farsickness" or "longing for far-off places" which I think is a really important word and there should be one in every language!
in English I think the equivalent would be wanderlust which means about the same thing. I love the word too!
+Anna Maria which is also a german word :)
+Nadine Jany I love how we have 2 words for it and other languages don't even have one and have to use the German word for it xD
I love this word! I have it tattooed
+Nadine Jany I love it ! It's exactly the word I need to describe how I feel !
My favourite word is happiness because it means feeling an emotion that is the equivalent of pure melted gold being poured over your heart and your heart absorbing it and the good thing is your videos make me very happy xxxx
+itswaypastmybedtime
Sorry I didn't mean to dislike your comment!! Keyboard is playing up aaaaghjjj
+Elizabeth-Louise Poulton hahah dw xx
SKADOOSH
the word said when you perform the mushi finger hold, which is the act of holding one's finger with your pinkie held up, then bringing it down causing a fatal explosion destroying the victim with awesomness.
My favorite word is xotzaxolotl, it means "walking fish of death" in the balamunuari language
+Walks As Elk I would love to send you a postcard for this word! Can you send me an address to send it to via TH-cam or Tumblr? carriehopefletcher.com/ask

***** I am technologically illiterate, but I can try
Favorite word is Spork, you should get one so you can eat your porridge, also a Swiss army knife so you can open your sweets and a small torch is always useful when you travel, have fun.
yES
+BEN TWOONEZERO Yeah, I've seen titanium sporks.
My favourite word is 'serendipity' the occurrence of happy events by chance 🌟🌟🌟
My favourite word of all time is "serendipity" not only because it sounds good to the ear but it means a happy accident and that is life's way of giving you a pick me up and I think that's wonderful
one of my all time favourite words is ethereal (despite me pronouncing it very wrong for half my life) as I think it is a beautiful word and it means extremely delicate, light, other worldly and the sound of the word fits with the definition and whenever i hear it I think of sunsets and faeries and dusky meadows and UGHHHH
My favourite word is 'neorxnawange', which is Old English for paradise. It appears in some veeeery old manuscripts.
My favourite word is petrichor, it means the smell after rain ;)
DAMNIT YOU STOLE MINE
+Kristiana Corona ooooh sorry sorry :p
Petrichor: For the Girl who Waited.
+Katie Brock I WAS JUST GONNA SAY
Right so the new Doctor Who companion was announced so we know that's not happening any time soon, but that was definitely a Doctor Who font at the beginning. After your "truly" tweet, I'm spotting little references left right and centre, so even though that was probably just you using a font you like, I'd like to make this comment my official "I think Carrie's gonna be involved with Doctor Who in some way", purely for the purposes of it existing and me being able to say "I told you so" if the world gets blessed with that news in the future.
One of my favourite words is 'Cwtch' it's in my native language, Welsh. there's no real English translation for it but the nearest meaning is an affectionate cuddle :) another favourite from my language is 'hiraeth' again no translation for it but some say it's like a homesickness to a place you can't return. like a memory sort of thing.
I'm such a lover of words haha
My favourite word is "love", and quite honestly, I can't tell you what it means. It has an infinite amount of connotations.
Mångata, in swedish it literally means "moon road" and is the streak of light the moon reflects in the sea.
my favorite word is pulchritudinous, which is a way to describe something breathtakingly, heartrendingly beautiful :)
+L0STinNARNIA I would love to send you a postcard for teaching me this word! Can you send me an address to send it to via TH-cam or tumblr? th-cam.com/users/messages
carriehopefletcher.com/ask
+L0STinNARNIA Nice to see that this one came up!! It was my word of the week last week. :)
Word of the week: Elucidator
+L0STinNARNIA Congrats! And this is a really beautiful word omg I love it thank you for teaching me this word.
Whimsical, it reminds me of tea cups and soap bubbles, flowers and wispy hair, and music. It simply makes me smile.
My favorite word is "parapluie". It is the French word for "umbrella".
My favourite word is an Arabic one " يسر". It's pronounced ""Yusr" and it means: ease ; easiness ; facility
Pili-Pala (Welsh for butterfly)🌸
So sorry if this gets long! The fact that I'm coming to see you on tour in Sheffield and actually flying in from Spain for my 21st birthday is just unbelievable! There is not one single word that could sum up how happy I am right now as I'm going to get to re live my childhood memories of my first musical all these years later. plus the fact that I've watched you for so long now is just mind boggling. Carrie you're amazing and i wish you all the best of luck with everything! xxx
my favorite word it's "saudades" it is in Portuguese and it's basically a word/feeling we say when we're missing someone and I love it so much because it is unique there's no translation for any language but Portuguese
Favourite word is supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, just brings back such lovely memories x
My favourite word is "querencia" it's a Spanish word and the technical definition is a place where one's strength is drawn, where one feels at home; the place where you are your most authentic self. It also is the name for the part of a bullring where the bull takes its stand.... but that's not as pretty :P
I don't feel like this is my favourite word but I really like the meaning. It's apapachar, which means in a very latin way, hug someone that you love with your entire soul. It is used as a verb and it's very common here in South America.
By the way, love the pink suit, you look gorgeous! xx
Ooh my favourite word is sonder because it just has such a cool meaning omg
even though i only speak english, my favourite word is 'pas de deux' because i'm a dancer and it means 'a dance for two people, typically a man and a woman', and it's just so romantic :) i wish i could come see chitty but i live in NZ :( love you
My favorite word is "intricate" because it looks as delicate as it sounds and means :)
One of my favorite words is "dusk", since it reminds me of the feeling I get when I'm alone at home by that time. I keep all the lights off, sit by the balcony, get comfortable, and just appreciate the fact that I have the possibility to slow down from time to time. I get nostalgic, philosophical, and dreamy, and it just helps me clear my mind once in a while. All of that is contained in the plain simplicity of that word for me, and I like to use it as often as possible.
English is my first and only fluent language but I take Italian in school my favorite word is la dita di piedi which mean toes in Italian but translates to the fingers of the feet in English which I find to be hilarious
dedos de los pies in spanish
Dedos do pé in brazilian Portuguese
Doigt de pied :) in french
Actually it's 'il dito (sing)/le dita (plur) dei piedi'. You were close 😂 however in italy we use the same word (dito) for both fingers and toes...indeed it's very difficult when we have to translate it in English, we always use fingers 😂
"Do people really need to be told that? It's a wall." 😂😂
I love the word 'kerfuffle' i mean, what a word! x
One of my favourite words is "saudade", in Portuguese. It doesn't have an exact translation to English, but it's the feeling you get when you're longing for something/someone. So when you miss someone, you can say "Hey! Saudade!" :)
I'm partially fluent in American Sign Language, and my favorite sign is probably "exhausted". It looks like you have two handfuls of glitter or confetti and you're much too tired to hold on to them anymore so you open your fists and let your fingers flutter a little bit as the invisible glitter/confetti sort of trickles out.
My favorite word is Rompetroll. It's an norwegian word for a baby toad. Directly translated it would litarlly be ass-trolls. Haha. I would capture them from little pouds and play with them when I was little. Love you Carrie!
I love the word 'liefde', which is Dutch for 'love' :) Just because love is a beautiful thing and when it's said in my native language I adore it even more.
Hier nog een (: !Xx
Haha, Belg eigenlijk maar Nederlandstalig woehoe! :D
Correct! :)
Carrie!
My favorite word (at the moment) is "holdfast," for so many reasons. As a poet, I like the mental image of literally 'holding fast'/'tightly' to a thing that is loved and valued or the act of anchoring or bracing oneself for what is to come. But I also love that this word has become a proper noun and a name throughout history just as much as an action or verb. It can mean anything from a part of a castle or fort, to a village in Worcestershire, to another name for 'Sellotape.' So I guess that's why I love it, Carrie: it combines the poetry of language--both in meaning and it the way it sounds when spoken--with the beautifully transitory nature of language itself, that, ironically, words are always changing and that their meanings are determined not by their age or place in a book, but by the people who use them.
YO NOTIF SQUAD WHERE YOU AT ? ❤️
Hey
+Lillian Rule heyooooo
Um...in my bedroom, why?
+Phoebe Jones very funny😂
I know the whole postcard thing is over but I just thought I'd say my favourite word is Un Sacapuntas. which means pencil sharpener in Spanish :-P
Amy Hutchinson THAT IS MY FAVE SPANISH WORD OMG
my entire Spanish class in school couldn't say it without laughing haha
One of my favourite words is Imber - to lean side to side while watching a car chase in a cinema. (Not a real word- from the meaning of Life)
*Liff
My favourite word is 'serendipitous' because I just love how it rolls off the tongue at the end... it means to discover something by happy chance or in a beneficial way!
Defenestration: the act of throwing someone or something out a window
One of my favorite words is: 'lieveheersbeestje'. It's Dutch for ladybug :)
Ymke De Graaff another Dutch person hoiiiii!!
Oh my goodness !!! I read this and thougt it was Afrikaans , we just write it as Lieweheersbeesie
My favourite word is Ohana, for those of you that don't know ohana means family and family means nobody gets left behind
or forgotten ;)
My ultimate favourite is petrichor - in simple terms it's the smell of rain, but it is officially defined as: "a pleasant smell that frequently accompanies the first rain after a long period of warm, dry weather". Also think lollopy is worth a mention. It is the name of one of my favourite childrens books, and means to move with a bobbing motion... if you don't understand, watch a clip of giraffes walking/running... they lollop. X
Onomatopoeia, I don't know why, it's just a nice word
My favourite word is Pan. It represents so many things I love! The god of nature, my sexuality and of course Peter! I really want to get it tattoed someday as well!!! I hope you have a great run as Truly!!
My favourite is currently Crescendo. I just love the way it's sounds when said
my favourite word is Quipu, Khipu.from tbe Incas
Quipus, sometimes known as khipus or talking knots, were recording devices historically used in the region of Andean South America.A quipu usually consisted of colored, spun, and plied thread or strings made from cotton or camelid fiber
i recommed googling them. I was luck enough to see some when I was in Peru. good luck for the rest of the tour carrie
I think Carrie is amazing in whichever character role she plays
My favorite word is pretoogjes which means happy eyes like when you smile or laugh and you scrunch your eyes a bit in dutch.
My favorite word is 'Sky'. Very simple and maybe boring to some of you but for me it means so much. It makes me feel calm and happy at the same time and I feel like the sky is a place I can always get away to. There's always a way. If you feel sad, if you feel like you want to get away, if you'd rather be in a different place in this life... The sky is a way out. Even though it may not seem like you can't go there, you can. You can dream away, climb, fly, fight, go for it. I love it. Love your vlogs as well Carrie
My favourite word is effervescent! It just sounds so bubbly and light and fizzy!
Catharsis is my favourite word, because I feel like the word has such a power within itself. I love how there's a word that means to bring emotional release from strong emotions. I especially love how its used in the context of the theater so much, as in how people go to observe plays and musicals because of the cathartic effect of watching someone else experience emotion. The same goes for books.
Aww, the people you work with seem so kind and fun! I'm so glad you're loving the show!! My favorite word is anticipation. There's just something about the way it sounds, on the tip of your tongue.
Captivated is one of my favourite words, so beautiful
i love it when u recognise it's ur city from a "this is not a toilet" sign
My favourite word is 'gezellig', it's dutch and it's one of those words that can't be translated into 1 word. Well you could say 'cosy', but you can use it for a lot more than just the typical blanket, tea and fireplace vibe. You could say that a party is 'gezellig', or that a person is 'gezellig'. I'd say it quite fits you actually, you are 'gezellig' in every way :)
I love lokata which is Jeremy Kyle guest slang for 'look at her'
My favorite word by far is "gezellig" it's a Dutch adjective. It's often translated to English as "cosy" but it's so much more than that. Sure a cosy atmosphere can be described as "gezellig" but it's also the feeling of being around friends or family, people you just feel comfy with and you can have a great time with. "Gezellig" is a soft and fuzzy vibe it's.....
You know what, "gezellig" is just Christmas in one word. That's the best explanation I can give you.
The word autumn is my fave - it sounds like it's got a quiet spirit, and I like than it ends in mn which I don't think any other words do!
The Sound Dome! Me and my friends always go in and have a a sing and a mess around it's so much fun
My favorite word is sunshine! It just screams joy to me! Sometimes my friends say that I remind them of sunshine, and that is truly everything I want to be. The sunlight makes everything around it illuminated (which is another lovely word) and faithfully rises and sets everyday.
Your outfit that you're wearing when you are trying to open the box of sweets is super cute!
i was at the first ever show and didn't realise you were in it and i was honestly blown away by your performance! your voice is so much more incredible live than it is on video. I'd never actually seen chitty before, even the film and loved every second of the show and you guys dealt with the hiccups so well! congratulations on such an amazing first show as truly and i'm sure they'll be many many more :) x
one of my favorite words is "saudade". it's in portuguese and it means the feeling of missing something or someone, that nostalgic feeling. so you have saudade, and you feel saudade. it's usually not a bad feeling, and it's actually really sweet to say to someone that you feel that about them! love you carrie, hope you're well x
Already commented but thought of an other word. Påtår, meaning the second cup, a refill. Most commonly used referring to an other cup of coffee but can be used for whatever beverage you please. It's used in Swedish but I believe it's a Norwegian word as well... When you have "fika" (I believe Anton thought you that word) you most definitely would want påtår. A very useful word.
My current favorite word is petrichor which is the smell of earth after rain, one of my favorite smells plus it's currently raining outside
I live in Milton Keynes and it's so weird watching you walk around the places I go to all the time. Xxx
my favourite word is anthropomorphism. it's the attribution of human traits or characteristics. it can be used to give animals character like in Disney movies by doing things like giving them thumbs or eyelashes. it flows so wonderfully off the tongue and reminds me specifically of Flower the skunk in Bambi.
My favourite word is confident because you inspire me to be confident in the way I act and how I am around other people!!
Oh my gosh, I love this show so much and from what I've seen this run looks amazing! I really wish I could come see it.
Favorite word: Embrace. As I've gotten older and grown in my relationships with people, I've come to realize how important it is, when a person is worth it, to not only accept the things that make them different from me and that it would be easy to consider flaws, but to embrace them and the person they belong to. Also I'm just a cuddler.
my favourite is inglenook which means a cozy nook by the fire or hearth and it just makes me think of winter and books and lovelynedd
I love the word pluviophile, meaning a lover of rain, someone who finds joy and piece of mind during rainy days.
I think my favorite word would have to be home. Whenever I read it or hear someone say it, the image of me with my family instantly comes into my head and makes me just so content. I think of where I grew up and made so many decisions that have changed me and shaped me into the person I am today just with the word home.
I love you so much more for referencing my favorite ride at Disney. You are so wonderful.
Vellichor = the strange wistfulness of used bookshops ☺️ my favourite word x
I LOVE the word 'Sonder' - the realisation that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own. Xxx
As far as I know, I'm not coming to see Chitty while you're in it (I watched it the night before you in Stoke) but my favourite word is preposterous simply because I love the way that it sounds when you say it!
My favourite word is " hydol" which is magical in Welsh ✨ can't wait to see the show!
I just love the word 'light' ,and every meaning that the word can take on.
My favourite word is serendipity and the definition is-the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way
I'm coming to see you on Wednesday at Milton Keynes!! Soooo excited!!!!!!!!
I've got to say my favorite word is whimsical and it means peaceful, beautiful, and graceful which is something that I strive to me as a color guard performer!
Apricity -- it means the warmth of the sun in the winter. I just love it cause it's such a specific thing! Random words make me happy
My favorite word is "Saudade" which doesn't have an accurate translation in English. It's a word in portuguese, and the closest "translation" that I've found so far is from the page "Wordable", it means a nostalgic longing to be near again to something or someone that is distant, or that has been loved and then lost; "the love that remains". It's a word that it's hard to explain, but easily felt, I guess that's probably why I like it so much (:
Wish I could go see you
my favourite work is anomaly: something out of the ordinary and something unexpected or out of place xx
Papillon - French for butterfly. It's just so pretty!
I do that I hate it when I am early for rehersal there is nobody there and your wandering round the theatre until you find another person and it's the most amazing thing ever
One of my favourite words is fluir which to me, means letting everything behind and just keep going
I can't wait till you come to Glasgow. Going to try my best and get tickets!
I was reading a book, "Between Shades of Gray" by Ruta Sepetys, and a word that kept showing up was "Krasivaya." It was defined by a character named Nikolai Kretzsky. This word means "beautiful, but with strength; Unique." Ever since I read that book the word has just been stuck in my head. It had so much meaning to the book. And, to be honest, it's the perfect word to describe you xD
I really recommend that book, by the way, as well as her other books.
I love you, Carrie. You are Krasivaya.
yassss
i have two: ZUC= train in german, Starify= to decorate with stars (it has been my all time fav word since i saw it in your video a couple years ago!)
My favourite word is eclectic because it of unusual-ness both its sound and meaning. So satisfying to say out loud as well!
I came across my favorite word many years ago and fell in love with it....."Vellichor" which is a word describing the strange wistfulness of used bookshops
One of my favorite words is ,Agape, which is the word to describe a kind of love that is completely selfless and self-sacrificing. I really appreciate the many different kind of words to describe love and this one just hits the nail on the head. I strive for agape and love because of agape.
