Hello friends! 😊 Thanks so much for watching! Making videos and artistic endeavors have been an important part of my life since I was a teen. I wouldn’t be who I am today without pursuing my creativity and surrounding myself with other creatives. I’d love to know what’s something that has been changing your life lately?
Thank you for this video! This was really helpful. Your video popped up on my main page which seems serendipitous as I just began my content creation journey 6 days ago! 😃 I’m a Gen Xer and creating content on cozy games. I’ve been wanting to for a few years but have been talking myself out of it, telling myself I was too old especially for gaming. But I truly enjoy it so much and love how gaming is appreciated by ALL ages. My 18 year old son even encouraged me and thinks it’s awesome I finally pursued it. ☺ I’ve found the community to be super welcoming and supportive, which has helped me gain some confidence in this short time. It also helped that I know folks who are also in the community, and offered me advice and encouragement. I’ve been a stay at home mom while homeschooling my son, but now that he’s in college I’ve been able to do this for myself, and even my husband said he sees the excitement I feel for it. I definitely believe creating content on TH-cam can change lives in very positive ways. New sub! Can’t wait to watch more of your videos. 😊
Congrats on starting your channel! 😊 I’m so glad you’ve found a supportive community. It really does make a big difference, especially with family cheering you on too. I’ve experienced a welcoming community here as well, and it’s amazing how TH-cam can have such a positive impact on our lives. I agree, TH-cam is wonderful because, as you said, people of ALL ages are here! Thanks so much for subscribing, and I wish you the best of luck on your TH-cam journey!
I just found your channel, I subscribed because I am early in my youtube journey, started february of 2023, in 2024 I am taking my channel much more serious and it is picking up traction and growing pretty steadily. I am looking forward to seeing more updates on your journey!
Thanks so much for subscribing! That’s awesome that your channel is growing! The TH-cam creator journey has its ups and downs, but it’s worth it. I wish I would've taken it more seriously sooner! Best of luck on your channel!
Yes, it started as a video production degree but when I transferred I moved into broadcast production (TV broadcasting/journalism) so that was the degree I ended up completing.
and in just a few days you are almost at 1000 now!!! congrats i subbed hopefully i can reach there 1 day too im only at 388 right now trying not to give up because this is my dream
As someone who’s been a cosplayer for a few years now who’s just now starting out on TH-cam, this was very interesting to watch! I’m trying to find more ways to expand my horizons with cosplaying!
That sounds awesome! Have you checked Rachel Maskys channel? I mentioned her in the video but she does cosplay. I think it’s fun to watch how everyone creates their costumes and outfits.
Loved hearing about your experience! I’m a new TH-camr and small creator and a lot of what you’ve shared resonates ❤ it’s definitely a creative and fun process!
Love this and so much of it rings true, I also started in high school media! After creating a channel during covid + pushing to get it monetized, I've taken several years off from making long form videos and trying to get back into it, so hearing this perspective was such a good reality check on the other benefits of having a channel. Also your striped strawberry shirt is so cute!! Just subbed, excited to watch your journey
I’m glad you enjoyed the video and welcome to my little community! I totally get needing to take time off from creating-it can be a lot sometimes. I’ll have to check out your channel. And thanks for the compliment on the shirt! I’m a big strawberry person, so its definitely one of my favorites. 😊
I just stumbled upon your video and I really liked it. I started uploading TH-cam vidéos 3-4 years ago and kind of dropped it when I found a steady job. I lost it this year too, and decided to go back to creating. Your video resonates so much with me and I hope to find those changes/improvements along the way too (especially the confidence one ^^). I feel like it makes me look at my career path from a different angle and definitely helps with the skill part :) Thank you for this it actually helps lifting my doubts a little :)
I'm glad my video resonated with you! It sounds like we’re on a similar journey, and I totally get how challenging it can be to balance creativity with a career, especially after losing a job. Honestly, I’m also nervous about what might happen to my creativity and channel once I’m employed again, but I hope I can keep the momentum going. I really believe that content creation is so undervalued when it comes to skill-building and how it relates to traditional 9-5 jobs. It shows dedication, adaptability, and a willingness to learn, which are all great traits for any career. I’m happy my video could help lift some of your doubts! Keep creating and I’m sure you’ll continue to grow! 😊
Not sure why youtube recommended this to me, but I'm glad it did! Subbed! I love how positive this video is, and so happy to hear what a boon this has been for you :D
Thanks for subbing! Welcome to my YT community 😊 I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. I try to keep all my videos filled with positive vibes, so I hope you find lots more to enjoy!
Hello Rachel thank you so much for sharing your experience! I'm currently thinking about starting a channel but there are a couple things holding me back. For one, I'm not sure where to start and that kind of overwhelms me because I feel like there are multiple ways I just don't know how. Second, I can't help but feel anxious as to what my family and friends might think of me, even though I know this shouldn't matter and they'll probably support me regardless, I just feel cringe. How can I move past all this?? Thank you for your inspiring video!!!
Thanks for watching! I totally understand where you're coming from. Starting a channel can feel overwhelming, but my advice is to keep it simple. Start with your phone and use a free editing tool like iMovie. Experiment with different types of videos at first, like talking head videos (like this one) where you discuss topics you're knowledgeable about, vlogs, or how-to videos. Try out a few styles to see what feels right for you and the type of brand you want to create. Also, when you first start out, it’s important to remember that it takes time to grow an audience. In the beginning, it might feel like no one is watching or paying attention, and that’s completely normal. As for friends and family, like I mentioned, I didn’t tell many people at first. My close friends know, and while some support me through subbing and commenting, others don’t care or bother with my channel at all, and that’s okay. I told my family last because, honestly, they’re not my target audience. My parents don't understand TH-cam, content creation, or vlogging. I rarely mentioned it to them at all. Just focus on creating content that makes you happy. The right people will support you. I hope this helps! If you have more questions let me know. Once you start it gets easier every time!
I enjoy posting on TH-cam but I have been very inconsistent. Because of my mental health, I don’t have the drive to always edit and post my videos, but I do enjoy documenting my every day life. I’m working on getting myself to do the things I love!
I can relate to that. I stopped posting for awhile a in 2023 because of my mental health and just being overwhelmed with my work and trying to do life in general. In my experience its better not to force or put pressure on yourself and get back to it when it feels right. I still struggle to make time doing fun things instead of grinding. Balancing can be so hard! Keep working on it!
i relate to this. just subbed to you #314 and watched your videos and will continue watching more. i hope to grow on this as well my goal is 1000 but its hard being consistent especially when the videos dont do well
15 years doing this, it's a 100% waste of time. All you end up doing is making a vanity mirror to look back at yourself with, like a Myspace page or personals profile.
Thank you for sharing your perspective. It’s always good to hear about different experiences from other creators. For me, doing something I’m passionate about brings a lot of fulfillment, but I know it’s different for everyone. Thanks for watching and sharing!
@@RachelElizabethW Yep, I myself am passionate about it, but it's a bit more than that for me... quite a bit more, because I followed a whole different road, and use YT as an unholy necromancy tool to portal view into the after life and communicate with the dead, and bring them back to life. It's absolutely wild. Money means nothing to me. I have plenty of money. But to see through to the other side, and have it talk back to me... is wild. I youtube like a gangsta!
I think it’s possible, but I don’t expect to get rich from it. As I mentioned in the video, being a creator is about more than just making money for me, so I don’t see it as a waste of time. Genuinely curious-if basic vlogs are a dime a dozen, what keeps you coming back to watch?
