    I really liked hearing about your first night in China. It totally reminded me of my first night too lol. I'm staying in Wuxi and when I landed in pudong it took about a 3 and a half hour drive from the airport to my hotel in Wuxi. Btw... the driving was NUTS! The driver was on his horn the whole time, and when the cars would get into accidents the people would just get out and walk from the car down the freeway. So like there would be tons of people just walking on the freeway lol. It was starting to creep me out about how long it took to get to my hotel, plus it was in the middle of the night... I thought he was taking me somewhere else if you know what i mean lol... When I got to my hotel, my internet was super confusing. My facebook, google, youtube didnt work because it was all blocked. Thankfully my co worker was near by to tell me that I needed a VPN... Oh and yeah I tried to contact my parents too and I couldnt get a hold of them also hahaha. Oh and when I got here it was just after January 1st (new years) and the start of the Chinese New Years so the fireworks were nonnnn stop! lol, I thought it only happened for that month but now i know it happens all times of the year ;) When I first got here I was definitely nervous, but once I figured out how things worked and how to use the trains/taxis ive grown to really love this place. I'm gonna be totally bummed out when I have to leave. I'm gonna really miss this place and the people*

    So, after 10 month's studying, how's your Chinese you think?

    • @lenny.winter
      @lenny.winter  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When I finished my school year there I took HSK3 and passed it with over 90% on all sections (listening, writing, reading), but I also knew about half of the characters in HSK 4. I would say I could get around and hold an every day conversation, but I wasn't really able to discuss interesting topics and exactly express myself like I would like to, which is normal I guess. I've been living in Italy for the past 3 years so I barely used any Chinese ever since, so I think it would take me a few days to refresh my memory. I did notice that even if I forgot some characters it is very easy for me to go through them and then remember them again, so I'm not worried about "losing" my Chinese, as I believe I'll be able to get back to it pretty easily. At least I hope so! haha

    • @lenny.winter
      @lenny.winter  7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      The phone itself was fine, it was probably a problem with my carrier. It was 3.5 years ago so I don't remember exactly, but I assume that we wanted to deactivate my SIM card after I arrive in China so that I don't get charged for calls abroad, but there was probably a misunderstanding that resulted in my SIM not working earlier than planned. I got the Chinese SIM the next day and everything worked perfectly :)

      I got a germany sim card and when i came back to china ,it still worked but u need to pay much more than chinese local sim card! There r many free wifi-set in airpot and railway station, if u have problems of Phoncall, u can go there to get free wifi for searching city-map and trying to contact ur friends with whatsapp ,QQ,skype,wechat blablabla(but no FB )!!! of course u can buy a local sim card a day after arraving,but remember,most Chinese local sim card dont support INTERNATIONAL ROAMING,so that might be a Problem ! For international roaming of phoncall , u need go to China Telecom and then activate the service of international phoncall. (I think ,that u can communicate ur family with skype instead of god damm international roaming call)

I believe lots of people are like me enjoy your videos!

    How did you get a room in the main building? Can you choose it yourself? They are kinda prestigious compared to the supplementary ones.

      Chris Sabre yea but English has so many expectations whereas as Chinese dosnt, English is one of the hardest languages to learn fluently. Furthermore each character is most likely a word or a part of a word whereas in English you have to piece together different letters

      Yeah, It's Pretty Awesome ughhh don't remind me haha. I was dumb & didn't have a backup. I accidentally spilled water & destroyed my laptop 😬. Have all my footage from my trip to SE Asia that I just completed backed up in multiple places haha.

      I accidentally deleted the footage from my last day of Singapore, where I actually shot all the places I've been to, but like in a nice, cinematic way for the purpose of making a video. It still bothers me haha

    • @ThisIsRyanWilsonLive
      @ThisIsRyanWilsonLive 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ahh that's the worst. I mean I was able to get over it since it was my very first footage & wasn't nearly as well shot haha. Just moving forward & making more videos haha. You'll just have to go back to Singapore!

    Hello dear, I m a gold medalist in bchelor environmental sciences from Pakistan, have two choices in hand, either move in South Korea in Chonnam National University Gwanju for spring 2019 intake on professor-based scholrship. Secondly, I have received acceptance from Fudan University Professor to join through CGS program, and for this I have to wait more six months fall 2019.
    What should I do?

    I think 16th of March is close to Chinese New Year for 2017? Can't remember, maybe that explained the constant firework. But strange thing is firework is banned, expect people live outside of 'WaiHuan' don't know what is going on. XD Anyway, hope you doing well in China
