Great video! The Gōtengō and Ragō are extremely underrated and long overdue for a reappearance. Want to hear something crazy though? These ships have even more abilities! The Gōtengō in Final Wars carries at least one fighter aircraft. I believe the Ragō does as well, however, sadly I haven’t seen Super Atragon yet. Additionally, Gōtengō got a slew of new abilities in the video game “Godzilla: Unleashed.” Freezing missiles, eight broadside maser ports, and an energy cannon that uses a crystal as its power source. Thanks for giving this under-appreciated vessel some attention. Hopefully, we’ll see it on screen again soon!
We never got to see Atragon (1963 version) use her turret guns in action. With her idiosyncratic wooden deck, she is still a battleship, no matter what her appearance. Too bad her co captain (Akira Ifukube) won't be around if she returns in a faithful remake/sequel. But, then again, there will never be another Empress of Mu like Akihito Kobayashi. Long live the Empress and Manda too!
@@haveyoueverbeenstrangledto5548 maybe they could also bring back jet jaguar and have him like that one lovable robot side character like c3po if you know what I mean
Not at all. The basis of the Goten-go is the I-403 of the Japanese Navy’s huge submarine. Space Battleship Yamato, as you well know, was born from the Imperial Japanese Navy Yamato.
They’re both flying WW2 style warships that defend Earth from advanced threats and have their most powerful weapon, a massive energy weapon, mounted at the bow… Yeah, I’d definitely say Gōtengō is in a way a precursor to SBY.
Or simplified version of it like Space Noah class battleship unit 3 the Kurogane from Super Robot Wars? th-cam.com/video/-9Q8OWey0SA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=EDBmKeyWzOvkrft1
So the gotengo has been around for quite a while now.
That's actually really interesting
I'm just getting into Godzilla, I didn't know it had a whole expanded universe of films, that's so freaking cool

Hoping we'll get a Monsterverse version some day.
That would be awesome. Hopefully.
Does anyone think that they should bring the gotengo into the monsterverse
They focus on monsters
......instead sadly
I think so because I feel like it would have been a better idea then the USS Argo. The Gotengo could probably obliterate the Argo in one hit.

It’d be a nice surprise, but they focus only on the Kaiju.
@@bayonetonazero2535 your right but they have aircrafts more advanced in gvk then the ones in Kotm so it’s a possibility
最後ぐらいから地球防衛軍入ってるの良いね👍️😊
1:38 Aren’t these actually Armor Piercing Shells?
Doesn't matter which ship bears the name ... the gotengo is one of legend ..
Next to the Yamato, this is my favorite Japanese based ship
The war in space 1977 my favorite gotengo ver

@@honndawakenomikoto I'm talking toho godzillaverse wise
The gotengo in it'd way being the equivalent counterpart of the space battleship yamato

Well if it isn't Nerdtron
I BOIL DOGS ALIVE
Waiting for Wildstrike’s comment (Edit: I just realized he made this. Then again who else would have?)
I am begging Godzilla Battle Line to add this unit🙏
Good news they already did
There’s a anime gotengo
That’s what I wanna know
What was the name of the anime the gotengo was in

Shin Kaiteigunkan (Metsuboueno 0 hour)→sub title
Bad to bone ship!

I prefer RahGo from SuperAtragon Kaitei Gunkanime.
Or simplified version of it like Space Noah class battleship unit 3 the Kurogane from Super Robot Wars?
