All the aluminum upgrades had already been done including the shocks ( dual front and rear to the car and it is a blast. I run it on 3s and it is a monster and stable plows through almost any thing. I am 79 now and RC is my new hobby.
I’ve had my udr for a few months now and it’s been broken probably 80% of that time. Can’t even get a full pack through it without it breaking from nothing🙃 glad you have better luck!
My dads udr breaks a lot but it’s how he drives it, mine breaks but not to often, u can’t drive a udr like a xmaxx. You got to drive it more realistic and scale
And yes a udr in the rain is a spectacular special sight!! My brother has molded his (Clifford), to the point of shelf queen status. I love watching Clifford slide around on wet grass or a nice iced over lake. We came up with a way to stud the tires on the udr and my typhon unlimited(that used to be a typhon mega 550, all metal gears deiveshafts etc... will run 4s.) Seeing those rc's sideways on a lake chuckin ice everywhere was amazing.
Agreed mate, maybe some of the other offerings are more durable, but thats not why i got my UDR, it was to have the most realistic handling and looking RC truck out there, and i love my UDR. It is so satisfying and easy to drive, and just looks so damn good in motion !
Comparing the Hammer to the UDR is comparing apples to oranges. The Hammer Rey is based on an Ultra 4 King of the Hammers competitor. It's more of a rock crawling based vehicle. The UDR is based on a full on trophy truck. In their respective categories, they're both the top of the field but they were never meant to be in the same realm. They have the same sponsorship badging but that's like comparing a Penzoil Indy car team to a Penzoil Baja race team. Same badging, entirely different field of competition. Anyway, still fun vids.
Trophy trucks race the KoH as well. The buggies like the hammer also runs in the baja races like the trophy trucks. They're actually good competition but the UDR easily wins the scale & driving between the 2
@XK not really. The chassis are completely different. The Hammer rey is a lot narrower. Suspension trailing arms are a lot shorter. Looks like the wheelbase is longer. looks like the Rey has different suspension in the rear as well. The rey has different A arms as well. All those differences add up. If you're only going by type of axles then the UDR is the same as the Element RC Trail Truck...solid rear axle and IDFS in the front.

For Slo-mo, the UDR any day! The realism from these larger Trophy Trucks are spot on. I've got the 30DN 1/6 trophy truck, ditched the crappy servo to something decent and it's amazing!

Been at this since the 70's and the only ride that comes close to the UDR is the very first Losi truck with the trailing arm rear suspension. Imo obviously but it is such a fun drive. From power to suspension to realism...I just lover it.

Bought a UDR when It first released years ago. sold it after 1 year of bashing. I have been through with so many RC cars. If let me pick one and only ONE ultimate RC car to keep in hand. I will definitely go for UDR again.
i swear the next thing kevin should get is a big piece of land and pave a nice long straight away for speed runs and then make his own off road/ basher course
They both look awesome I like what Steve did with the losi hammer ray To be honest The UDR 6S The hammer ray 4s Put the UDR against the 6s arrma Mojave That will be a better match but the hammer ray handle itself well against 6s compared to 4S 💯
Yeah for sure I am a Traxxas fan there Vehicles do handle well . but In this comparing It is the battery 🔋 6s & 8s . Is a whole Different level of power Compare to 4S I took my hammer rey out today just to make sure Steve did not put that on 6S or 8S . Its ripping like that on 4S i can imagine if it was 6S it will be a big difference That's why I give my props to losi on this one the udr was only about 3mph faster it did handle a lil better
hey kev, I've got a recommendation, so the arrma senton 3s is already a really good 3s basher, but i made mine into a monster senton with some arrma granite wheels, a 15T pinion, and a cut out body to fit the tires, makes the car sooo much funn, it does backflips and wheelies like crazy
I really hope he considers your comment the senton is so versatile, I’ve done what you did too but as of now my senton is set up for street racing and it clocks 80mph with the stock body vented and lowered
Can’t beat the udr for realism, but the thing stock is like glass. No comparison to the Mojave on toughness. Love to see head to head stock for stock udr vs Mojave 👍
Everyone has there favorite rc. All companies make good and not so good. My favorite is Losi, but I do more racing than bashing. So it's not a fair comparison. Losi has always been more race oriented and less bashing. Apples and oranges....main thing with any of them is to have fun. If you're not having fun then your doing it wrong....lol
depends the kind of driver you are, are you a basher or you like more to drive "scale" or realistic? The UDR is not built for bashing, but it is heaps of fun to drive if you arent a hardcore basher. Its so satisfying to drift it in the corners and stuff, also never get tired of seeing it soak up rough terrain at high speeds.
To me the UDR makes the BEST sound of any RC car. Absolutely loved owning one of those!

Traxxas is so good at making those trucks handle, even the 1/16 slash handles like a trophy truck with the bodyroll and dampening just on point

It’s not though, it’s based on a Baja high speed rig (Baja Rey 1/10). Not suited for crawling or rock bouncing AT ALL.

I think the battery placement helps with center of gravity and stability. I'm no Traxxas fan but I can't deny how their vehicles handle so well.
